My kids 30 years from now: "Are you crying? What are you listening?" Me: "The End of My Journey. The one about Mordin." My kids: "After all these years?" Me: "Always."
And they say games teach violence... Games can be art as much as a movie or a book. And the level of immersiveness is beyond any other art form. The best trilogy I've ever witnessed, and so glad I was a part of it.
+Definetely Not Nelson Pham Yes, yes you should. The game is a masterpiece and I envy you so much that you will experience it for the first time. have fun
+Definetely Not Nelson Pham they have a problem with how it ended. But to me, even though they might have finished it way better, this is still one od the best things I've ever experienced. I am playing it again just as we speak
All the people who gave any sort of love toward Mordin, weeped for him. I say weep because he was a person who was trying to redeem himself, even with his last breath, as well as he truly hoped that the future would be different than everyone else thought it would be, where all coexisted, at the very least partially. And men cant cry, they weep.
I agree, I messed up on the last mission of ME2 and almost let legion die.... I went back to an old save to make sure he didnt and boy did I NOT regret that decision in ME3...same with thane and mordin. Even if you cant have them as companions in ME3, the story bioware knits together with them is truly a masterpiece....the ME games have since been the only series to have made me shed a tear in the entirety of my gaming experience and that is saying something.
A great story sometimes features epic, bittersweet deaths. Yes, Mordin was a beautiful character, but what beautiful death he had. Saving an entire species from extinction and redeeming himself.
12 years. I listen to this song for 12 years, and it's still as powerful as it was the first time I heard it. John Dreamer, if you are still out there: thank you for this masterpiece.
It is almost 2 years to the day. And I am still sitting here at midnight and crying like a baby. I never cried for a video game character. Damn you BW! Damn you!!
Buda That's how modern pop music works- the artist has to sacrifice his heart and soul to the record companies :D But this music is different- you willingly give your heart to the song, how it should be
I remember arriving at the weekend and returning from work, preparing everything for an epic night, turning on my computer, starting this music at full volume with my 7.1, order my favorite pizza and prepare my glass of red wine, and then start playing with a whole BT3, BT4 and other games that I still play today... ..I will wait again this coming weekend January 6, 2023 to do it again after so many years!!!....THANK YOU JOHN DREAMER FOR THE INSPIRATION YOU GAVE US!
They got Mordins death so right, it was just the right amount of Heroic, tragic and selfless, it still chokes me up when he gets in the lift with the parting line "Had to be me, some one else could have gotten it wrong!" The other scripted deaths like Thane and Legion were good but they were just not as touching... I dunno correct me if you think I'm wrong.
+MrJohnycomelately21 Mordins was the only death that made sense to me... Legion's was... Forced, in this "becuase we say so" way. "Shepard-Commander, I cannot simply copy paste the reaper code. I must split my 1183 runtimes up into fragments and distribute it to all geth." "But, Legion. There are several billions of geth programs, how are you going to split yourself enough? Give each geth one byte?" "SHEPARD COMMANDER MY DEATH IS SCRIPTED. DON't QUESTION IT." ".... Fineee." And Thane's death AND his disease.... Holy shit what in the actual world. They never defined his disease, except saying that it can be treated with a lung transplant, which Thane didn't want becuase he felt undeserving of another persons lungs. In ME1, Garrus clearly stated that organs can easily be grown inside people for harvest. So, why the heck didn't anyone grow him some lungs or make him grow new ones? Or, for fucks sake, cybernetics?? Shepard was revived from a slab of meatloaf, they have to be able to give Thane some new lungs. So, again. Strange. (And I know he was killed, but come on. On full capacity, he would have brutalized that final fantasy char they forced into the story.) Aaand I realize I sound obsessive. XD I quite love the mass effect series, minus the ending of the third game, and quite a lot of story elements in the final game as well. I'd be more forgiving towards those writing derps, had they made the ending... Less awful. XD
+Ann Segdsgh yeah! I thought the destroy all AI was a massive snub to all the work you do to save the geth, making the destroy rewrite option pointless and ultimately Legions death pointless. The control option that made the whole Cerberus story arch and all decisions made with them utterly pointless, and synergy that pretty much makes the entire core principles of the entire franchise pointless.... they just sort of smashed out an ending that was totally counter to the entire underlying point....
+MrJohnycomelately21 Yes, precicely! It went counter to everything they had built up to, every theme, every "we're different, but toghther we're strong!" point they had made. And not only that, it was RIDDLED with plotholes we were just forced to accept (Normandy lands in front of Harbinger to pick up two non essencial crewmembers? Why the fuck did we not just land there instead at the beginning of the Earth mission? Didn't have to fight our way there in that case. Insultingly stupid. Really.) I really do not understand people who say they like the ending, or are fine with it. For me it was BETRAYAAAAL, and a big heartbreak. :/ Only thing that made me not completely break out of the fandom, was the indoctrination theory. I have no idea if thats the right interpretation, but, for me, the only answer is that Shepard is experiencing some insane fever dream courtesy Harbinger. :/
+Ann Segdsgh Aye but if it is indoctrination, then how did the game end? they've just left it totally in the air and then started again some time in the future far far away.... so what was the point of the previous three games? Building and building to a massive climax of an epic space opera to just go "meh!" and not finish the story?? it's the ultimate insult to everyone who paid money and invested hundreds of hours of three games. It's like reading an epic trilogy to get to the last chapter for the author to write "eeeeerm fuck it, I'm finished." and that's it.
Finished Mass Effect half a year ago, watched how people reacted to the death of Mordin on UA-cam. In my opinion it was the best, most meaningful death in gaming. Now, after a long-long time I found a beautiful melody which inspires me to continue writing (writing the second book). After a little research I am discovering that it is about Mordin! My mind is blown by this coincidence! Such a small world.
I haven't played a minute of Mass Effect and the feels train kinda hit me. This music is really emotional. The strings make a big deal for me, I think. Love your work!
+nakkazza Apart from the ending. The only way I felt good about it was when I looked into the Indoctrination Theory. I quite literally saved the franchise for me.
+SciFi Dragon i like to think about it this way my shep did not care about what insane logic that ai used to justify the mass murder of trillions he only knew that the reapers had to be stopped and so he game his life to do just that thats what the ending is
To this today we stood out at all, To grim and face the enemies thrall. Yet win we come our blood shall spill, To those who lost for future thrill. And remnant strands the noble creed, Fallen left to glimpse and heed. Of final days of work be done, Shall cringe and fade to certain none.
Shouting the lyrics at the end of the video through mid-tears. He had to do it though, someone else might have done it wrong. Goodbye you wonderful bastard, WE WILL MISS YOU.
indeed, a salute to all of them, except solaire, for solaire i have something special. PRAISE THE SUN MY FELLOW SUNBRO! may you find your own sun my sunbrother...
John pls make more songs. This is not the "end of your journey". you make this a "beautiful life". i know you will "become a legend" one time, "never give up". you will find "true stenght" from your friends, your "brotherhood". "It's time" to "rise".
Although my Mass Effect journey is done. I have played it day in and day out. Beaten it many times over Male and Femshep. I will never forget the loss of the greatest friends over the course of the trilogy. When playing you lose yourself in the story. When I beat it I felt that I would never cry again. But Mass Effect came and touched all of our hearts. It showed many life lessons that many people don't get. It was overall a true experience of Friendship, Romance, Heroism, sacrifice. We all remember the death of Thane, Legion, Mordin. But it is time to move on, to find new games that will have the same affect on us. But never forget the two words that make video games a true story. Mass Effect
You jsut can't find something like Mass Effect. It is unique experience that can never happen again. It's what makes the game special. All the loveable and hateable characters. This is Mass Effect. I agree completely with the rest :)
Normally, I don't comment or like on youtube, but I cannot just continue on without expressing my gratitude for you sharing this music. The words I type here will never fully show how amazing I think your music is, but hopefully, you will understand my message. Listening to your music not only calms me, but makes me happy at the same time. I hope you can wake up tomorrow, Valentine's Day, knowing that you made at least one person's day. You changed at least one person's life. Happy Valentinesday
Imagine a big choir of Asari, Human and Turian singing this like they´re honoring him and in the end there are krogans "URAAH"ing with the rhthym... damn, I want a space choir!!
All good things eventually come to an end, but the journey taken is what makes it worthwhile. It's been over 8 years since we've ever heard of your last composition. Although that may be the case, I would still love to thank you for making these masterpieces that have gotten me through many dark turbulent times and I wish you the best in whatever path you have set forth upon yourself. May one day we cross paths once again in the future.
Your music sir, is awe-inspiring. I feel as if your music rivals that of a Triple A title. I wish you luck in your career and will support every moment of it.
losing mordin was like losing more than a friend... a brother, a part of you in the whole series. In fact, you can see how Shepard's strength begins to get weaker as you begin to lose your beloved team, your brothers in arms. Genuine video and music!
I get the whole, "You guys don't want to listen to my voice", but, IMO, this was even better 'cause it was so easy to sing along to and the song's just fantastic. Definitely in my top 3 ME fan made songs.
Don't play it because you should. Play it because you feel like it. When you feel like starting on a sci-fi journey, play the first Mass Effect - From there, you'll just begin an amazing journey, and it will build up, and build your love for it, and by the third game, the pay off will be amazing.
Magnificent music. I'm here because I reached the end of Mordin's story a few days ago. How can I so authentically mourn the loss of a character in a game?
FUCK!I can't accept the fact that there will be no Shepard,no crew,no Normandy and other things in next chapter.Without them it won't be "Mass Effect",which i love so much...
I wish I could write a story as epic as the songs you compose. Whenever I type up my stories, I listen to symphony music- yours repeatedly. You are a fantastic composer for coming up with all of this. All these pieces that you come up with dedicated to great games. I can't wait to see when you come up with your own completely original pieces.
There are good songs that I enjoy in this world. Then there are great songs that get me very excited and energized. And then there are beautiful songs that send shivers down my entire body, and I have to step back from the world for a moment to take it all in. Needless to say, you've allowed me to experience the latter. Thank you, and a fantastic job!
Epic song man and best tribute I've seen to Mordin! People give Mass Effect a lot of stick for the ending but even by seeing the comments on this video you can see the effect the games had on everyone who played them. It was about the journey not the destination!
I was just looking up Mordin's song for old time's sake, and then I found this... So glad that I could find this amazing song. Brings back the feelings of Mordin...
This is amazing the mass effect trilogy is one of my favorite game series ever and this fit perfectly with the scene truthfully it made me tear up alittle " i miss mordin;("
Mr. John Dreamer, I was truly moved by this clip and look forward to when you have a vocal version of it done. I plan to buy the music in the meantime, but I will be waiting for the vocal with great anticipation.
considering there new CEO not messing up the Bioware stuff. I'd say next year fall or so. Battlefield hardline and other announced games will be released when they are completely well tuned and stuff. Made sure there made properly.
ME has always released in the spring and it won't be 2015 since we haven't heard anything yet, hence why I said spring 2016. Fall 2015 is definitely a possibility though.
As a musician i can tell that this music is very high quality . You should really get in touch with some companies that produce movie music . Good luck on your way John :)
Your music is so touching , your music is so deep, I feel the strings the back round music. It has inspired me in so many ways PLEASE keep making music You are a wonderful composer . I never grow tired of listening to it amazing :)
when I listen for the first time this song, I say, "yep, it's cool" but now, I saw the original with the mordin lyrics and God, this is the most powerful, sadness and brave fan song I've ever heard about ME3 So what can I say for that, just thanks, thanks for this track :) PS: sorry for my bad english, It's not my birthlangage :)
jonah pickrell Especially since he would have died either way.. Why not just let him see his mistake fixed to the end?... To be honest, the only reasoned why I allowed his death was because Mordin mentions how old he is in ME2. He was going to die soon anyway and he had been trying to fix the genophage for a long time.
The Mass Effect series, an experience unlike any other, without equal. It's full of hope, showing us that we can make a difference, all we have to do is believe. Believe in ourselves and the good in all people. I'm sad that Shepard's and her crew's chapter is over, yet I don't regret playing it. Mass Effect is the best trilogy I've ever played.
As many times as I grilled Mordin in my first playthrough, I still loved him and cried when he gave himself for the Krogan. Hic Sunt Leones my Salarian friend!
Good GOD the Chinese love John Dreamer. *Every* political ad, *every* reality TV show, *every* recruitment video features one of Dreamer's songs. I hope they are paying through the nose in royalties.
I sang along, my throat hurts now because of the surge of emotion I felt as I sang. I let it all out. Today was sucky for me, lots of fights with family. And now... I just feel amazing, both invigorated and enlightened, and depressed. But in truth, thank you.
My kids 30 years from now: "Are you crying? What are you listening?"
Me: "The End of My Journey. The one about Mordin."
My kids: "After all these years?"
Me: "Always."
for fuck sake this was a great game!! It seems like it almost went downhill from there...

Oh yeah, Attack on Titan!!
When Mordin was singing his song and the explosion cut him off, did anybody else finish it for him? The feels man, the feels.
I did.
I did. Mordin was one of my favorites.
I tried to finish it for him... but I can't sing and cry at the same time. "The feels" indeed! *sigh*
As best I could through the tears
I did, didn't even realized.
And they say games teach violence... Games can be art as much as a movie or a book. And the level of immersiveness is beyond any other art form. The best trilogy I've ever witnessed, and so glad I was a part of it.
Sounds like a great game. Should I but it? Also why do people say Mass Effect 3 sucks?
+Definetely Not Nelson Pham Yes, yes you should. The game is a masterpiece and I envy you so much that you will experience it for the first time. have fun
Veljko .Vukojičić Thx. But why do people dislike Mass Effect 3?
+Definetely Not Nelson Pham they have a problem with how it ended. But to me, even though they might have finished it way better, this is still one od the best things I've ever experienced. I am playing it again just as we speak
Makes sense.
Even though Mordin never had a spot on my assault team, he had a spot in my heart.
Shame on all who disliked this masterpiece.
No, they just missed the like button, we forgive them.
Seems that someone else did get it wrong
+D3usEX's Epic Music Den The tears make it hard to see which button's which
Must be the Reapers.
Men don't cry. We only shed manly tears.
Aleksi Heija "it must be raining..."
Razielx92 You suck for bringing back such memories... but im glad you did.
speak for yourself. I cried.
Mordin, Thane, and Legion were my favorite ME2 characters. Yeah, thanks Bioware. Love you guys.
I agree, I messed up on the last mission of ME2 and almost let legion die.... BioWare is the best. :)
Francesco Piccolo Not if you shot him in the back.
bimapringgo For a greater good.
Mordin was my second favourite after Garrus. He died a hero 😥
+Daniel Lincoln-Smith In my game, he is alive, because i liked him so miuch, i dont want to "kill" him for the krogans
Tali, Garrus, Mordin, Liara, Wrex, Joker, Thane and Grunt are my favorite character of the trilogy
+Thane Krios you were my side bitch haha
Daniel Lincoln-Smith Are you playing Fallout 4? I am! Waiting for Mass Erect Andromeda! ^_^
+Thane Krios I' m playing fallout 4 and the mass effect trilogy and waiting for Andromeda (need Tali... pls I need her in this fucking game)
not goin to lie, that ending made me tear up. A lot.. Okay, my mouth was moving... OKAY FINE, I CRIED DAMMIT, DON'T JUDGE ME!
You are not alone give me big hug
right there with you
Same here guys...R.I.P Mordin, hope you're collecting seashells on your dream place :'(
Add me to the list.
Damn you!!
This song is amazing, Mordin was an awesome character in the story
So wow. Its like it has hands and reaches straight for my heart.
that... kinda sounds really wierd

This song came to me on Shuffle play. Years after playing the games... Instant goosebumps and tears in my eyes. You will be missed, Mordin.
For me, the best game history ever. No other game made me feel like this.
My God. This music, this video, this game series. A masterpiece from you, John, and from Bioware. This is incredible.
John pls make more songs. This is not the "end of your journey". you make this a "beautiful life". i know you will "become a legend" one time, "never give up". you will find "true stenght" from your friends, your "brotherhood". "It's time" to "rise".

This is one hell of a masterpiece! as a Mass Effect fan through times, I totally love this! Perfect tribute to Mordin.... I miss him =(

Masterfully done. Now I want to play this game all over again.
never thought that numbers 010101001 on screen could hold my soul and make me feel such emotions for a non-existant character (sry for bad english)
It is very existent character. You experienced him, you know how he looks and sounds.
i fucking love him and whole trilogy

7PlayingWithFire7 Spoken like someone who has been forever touched by the story that is the shepard, but also scarred.
7PlayingWithFire7 And get all the DLC's.Trust me,it's worth every penny.
OneBadassCroatian Yes, especially the ME3 Citadel DLC! That one is my favorite!
Amazing game but be prepared for a very disapointing ending
Magnificent music. I'm here because I reached the end of Mordin's story a few days ago. How can I so authentically mourn the loss of a character in a game?
FUCK!I can't accept the fact that there will be no Shepard,no crew,no Normandy and other things in next chapter.Without them it won't be "Mass Effect",which i love so much...
As one story ends, another begins? I'm sad too but who knows what may come, but im game to try and find out :)
John... it´s so long, and I am still waiting. Your music learned me to never give up.
i can imagine mordin going up the elevator singing this :'(
Dr. Masseuse thats bc he did XD
I wish I could write a story as epic as the songs you compose. Whenever I type up my stories, I listen to symphony music- yours repeatedly. You are a fantastic composer for coming up with all of this. All these pieces that you come up with dedicated to great games. I can't wait to see when you come up with your own completely original pieces.
;-; oh God, feels. Feels everywhere!
;_;
Sir, you are amazing.
I cried with this and hummed the lyrics during the song.
Wow.....
Guess im playing the whole triology again. Masterpiece.
I have to say this song has and still is helping me overcome a very sad moment of my life. Thank you for making this beautiful music.
Almost 9 years later and this still nakes me cry. Is there at least a tiny chance we will get a choir version of this?
Turn up your volume, you will hear it ^^
There are good songs that I enjoy in this world. Then there are great songs that get me very excited and energized. And then there are beautiful songs that send shivers down my entire body, and I have to step back from the world for a moment to take it all in. Needless to say, you've allowed me to experience the latter. Thank you, and a fantastic job!
I didn't cry...much
Epic song man and best tribute I've seen to Mordin! People give Mass Effect a lot of stick for the ending but even by seeing the comments on this video you can see the effect the games had on everyone who played them. It was about the journey not the destination!
"You may swim like a Hanar, bomb like a Volus, but you 'll never sing better than Mordin Solus!"
Manly tears...manly...manly... *sobs*
mordin WHHYYYYYY
Just curl in a ball, roll over and cry..
conmadben no >:|
Had to be him, someone else might have gotten it wrong.
Japneet Dhaliwal It still makes me wet eyed... Damn Bioware!!! Y u make him so lovable! Damn you!!!
conmadben that's what makes bioware so amazing at what they do
your music has helped me to develop my book, because it is fantastic and makes me imagine and dream more than with other themes
this song is so epic my speakers can barely handle it
ya mine to but we are the same person to thats undestandable
I was just looking up Mordin's song for old time's sake, and then I found this... So glad that I could find this amazing song. Brings back the feelings of Mordin...
I would have liked to do studies on seashells.
I keep coming back here just to listen to this. This is one of the best tracks i have ever heard :)
1:17 my skin explodes xD goosebump of doom :D
Goosebumps, again. Thank you, I wasn't planning on crying today.
Do you feel good making people cry? Love this song.
This is amazing the mass effect trilogy is one of my favorite game series ever and this fit perfectly with the scene truthfully it made me tear up alittle " i miss mordin;("
Methinks he should get Malukah to sing this...
this was so beautiful, well done man, thank you for sharing this piece of art
Is there also a Version with the text? I mean someone who is singing this beautiful song?
A truly beautiful piece. As this was of the saddest death in the Mass Effect trilogy, this song was well dedicated, and had me openly weep.
We all cried when Mordin died.
Mr. John Dreamer, I was truly moved by this clip and look forward to when you have a vocal version of it done. I plan to buy the music in the meantime, but I will be waiting for the vocal with great anticipation.
Mass effect 4 is coming soon guys.
Probably Spring 2016 if I had to guess.
considering there new CEO not messing up the Bioware stuff.
SkiDaBird Looking at it now , i think should expect 2017 spring as the closest
i wish it was soon..it isnt.
Came back after not hearing this for a while, goosebumps the whole time, I love your music and I hope there will be more it some day.
For Mordin...Because someone else might have gotten it wrong.
Dreamer you have a career ahead of you keep at it. If I see a game with your name on it, regardless what it is, Im getting it. You have my support.
in games, erything getting more realistic but at the same time more unrealistic
As a musician i can tell that this music is very high quality . You should really get in touch with some companies that produce movie music . Good luck on your way John :)
i was crying when mordin died
The replay button has gotten some major abuse as of late. You have an incredible talent Mr. Dreamer
Oh... It's like if Subscribing, liking and faving this video wasn't enough for all it's awesomeness*.
Your music is so touching , your music is so deep, I feel the strings the back round music. It has inspired me in so many ways PLEASE keep making music You are a wonderful composer . I never grow tired of listening to it amazing :)
BECAUSE I MADE A MISTAKE!
man you have a certain subtle balance in your music, you don't get over a certain line and keep it in a range in witch it sounds majestic
Malukah should sing it...
fuck no, ruining a good song, not now, not ever.
when I listen for the first time this song, I say, "yep, it's cool" but now, I saw the original with the mordin lyrics and God, this is the most powerful, sadness and brave fan song I've ever heard about ME3
So what can I say for that, just thanks, thanks for this track :)
PS: sorry for my bad english, It's not my birthlangage :)
I shot Mordin. For Humanity.
you have no soul c:
D:
jonah pickrell
Especially since he would have died either way.. Why not just let him see his mistake fixed to the end?... To be honest, the only reasoned why I allowed his death was because Mordin mentions how old he is in ME2. He was going to die soon anyway and he had been trying to fix the genophage for a long time.
*****
I see. I didn't know that. Thank you for this information, Mr. Brouwer.
***** for this you have to kill wrex on virmire, so this not an option
The Mass Effect series, an experience unlike any other, without equal. It's full of hope, showing us that we can make a difference, all we have to do is believe. Believe in ourselves and the good in all people. I'm sad that Shepard's and her crew's chapter is over, yet I don't regret playing it. Mass Effect is the best trilogy I've ever played.
Dude your music is just amazing never stop making that thing, it's just awesome!
Mass effect is definitely the best game trilogy I've ever seen, played, and had the joy of experiencing.
Epic Music - Epic Footage! I freakin love Mass Effect! You deserve my like good sir!
I sang along, my throat hurts now because of the surge of emotion I felt as I sang. I let it all out. Today was sucky for me, lots of fights with family. And now... I just feel amazing, both invigorated and enlightened, and depressed. But in truth, thank you.
