Every week the team that plays the Lions says they beat themselves and the Lions didn’t. When will people realize the Lions might have a part in teams making mistakes
Something i’ve not heard anyone mention. This was Darold’s first game of huge importance of his entire career. He’s never started in a playoff experience. He sucked. it broke him. I put the loss of the game totally on him. Now that he’s had this experience, how will he learn from it? Will he use it to get better or will he crumble? Let’s see how next week goes. If he sucks in LA, ship him out, let’s go JJ. If he balls out and wins it, welcome to the 2025 QB room Darnold, McCarthy, and Jones.
I'm not saying the Vikings should keep Darnold but didn't many people agreed to the fact, and I think you guys did too, that you need time and good coaching to evolve players specially at the QB position. And like you also said Darnold didn't have the coaching staff around him with the Jets or Panthers. It is basically his first (besides 49ers) season with a good coaching staff. I even think it could've been worse at the beginning of that season than after his draft because he was probably doubting himself and his abilities more than ever before. He showed this season what he is capable of without having a great coaching staff for his first five years. If you put him in the right environment where he still can evolve I'm pretty sure you'd have a top 5-8ish QB. He is just 27. Would you guys like to play him if he'd go to the Rams next season. ;)
Indeed... this was the most important game in Mr. Darnold's pro career. He sank inside himself. He looked flaccid and chased by ghosts. Let's be thankful the ownership did not extend his contract earlier this year. Thankfully they stick with the plan. JJ Mc is the affordable future with pretty good prospects. BTW who will be the backup next week- because if Sam the Slayer is mentally & physically bankrupt at some point, who do they go to?
I love those no one in 30 years stats, but when we play in prime time, it happens to us. I'm ready to bet the farm that we're going to lose Monday night. I was hoping for a Sunday 4:00 start. It's still another great regular season and that's what I think we're capable of doing. 😊
don't forget the unicorn and rainbows scenario... both Green Bay and Washington win next week, then Green Bay goes to Detroit and the Vikings get a home game against Washington
I think what Judd said on vent line was spot on, you can’t franchise Sam after a performance like that… he’s proved when the focus is on him, he’ll crumble. Not our year. Reichard is damaged goods. QB and frankly none of our playmakers showed up. Jets? No… not even JJ… Just Justin after a performance like that…
There are a lot of reasons the Vikings lost last night. Coaching, Darnold, offensive line, defensive line. A lot of things need to get better before they can beat a team as tough and as smart as Detroit.
How about a Mackey dream scenario. Packers beat Eagles, Commanders beat Bucs, and Vikings beat Rams. This would set up Packers at Detroit and Washington at Minnesota. Packers beat Detroit, and Vikings beat Commanders, and we host NFC Championship. LOL right we lose Monday!
You can't have a better running game if you never run the ball. We got the opposite of Childress. Pass, pass, pass punt. KOC needs to scout himself. Love him, but he needs to run the ball.
This needs to be addressed, the Lions hold and pass interfere until they get called on it enough for it to actually hurt them. It's a smart way to go about it. The refs don't want to make the game super frustrating to watch or all about them so they let it go because it's "close".
judd is so happy Darnold failed, hes been rooting for it all year, yet loves Reichard like he was his first born. make it make sense. its funny how much Judd likes gibbs, he clowned the lions for taking a rb and jack campbell. seems to be working out...
I believe both koc and D Campbell are in 3rd yr of HC job. What's the difference? Mgt. Sheila Ford decided on a long term, patience strategy to WIN and build a Championship team! Wilfs like so many 2nd tier franchises are impatient trying piece mail strategy to victory overnight.
Lions fans are the new Packer fans, Bears fans are the new Lions fans, and Packer fans are just more and bigger Packer fans. You can occasionally find individuals in either of the three fan bases that are intelligent and actually know football, but as a group, emotion and delusion rule them.
#33 actually had his most productive rushing year of his career. I haven't heard you mention it. Yes, we need a more consistent running game, but the above statement is still a fact!
Hot take, I would rather sam get this stinker of a game out now rather than in the playoffs. We went on a 9 game win streak with him. This team can win it.
I’m with Judd on this one. 48 hrs ago, the masses were clamoring for trading JJ and giving Sam $80 mil / yr. Now, those very same people are on the “cut Sam today and start Mullens the rest of the way” train.
Darnold was high and wide throwing to wide open receivers and he did the same thing against Detroit in their first game, against the Rams, and against Jacksonville and Indianapolis. If this is how he responds in big games then bring on McCarthy.
Don't know where Darnold's stock has fell to but, I think they still franchise tag him and see what you can get. I am sure there is 1 team out there giving at least a 2nd rd to get him. Maybe even a first still. Yes, McCarthy is the future. They have cap room to rebuild the middle of the offensive line and a big nose tackle.
@@DMJ160 I agree that they should franchise Darnold to see what they can get, but trading McCarthy and keeping Darnold would be a huge mistake, McCarthy has a history of playing his best in big games.
You can do all the critiques all the next day analysis you want, without a QB that has that "iT" in them your not gonna win the big games even if you have a great team or even a good team
Despite Darnold having a great season....he faltered when we needed him at his best. Clearly the spot light may have been to bright and his experience in such is 0 to limited. If he plays like that against the Rams....his future may be in jeopardy...not just here but elsewhere...teams want someone who rises to the occasion....hoping we see sam at best and we get a second shot vs Lions
To go a whole season and then not be able to make easy accurate throws shows the mental ability to be a starter is simply not there. He had a mountain of money in front of him and he pissed it away!
I hate, hate, hate how hundreds and even thousands of fans scream the same exact line every time the team loses which is "the play calling sucked". First off, the plays called got receivers open for touchdowns multiple times. Darnold sailed the passes. But, more importantly, when thousands of asshats as fans of multiple teams constantly trot out this amorphous phrase whenever their team loses, the criticism loses all meaning. It's bottom of the barrel analysis.
No shame in getting beat by a better team last night. 14-3 pretty good for a rebuilding year. No secret our interior o-line is inconsistent, measured and found lacking. The Rams are the next toughest match-up.
The best thing about that game last night is that it showed Sam ain’t the guy to get you to the SB. Move on to JJ that showed he can excel in prime time with his high quality play in the national championship. It may take awhile but Sam is not the guy.
What a bunch of sell outs you guys are! One bad game all year and you go from "sign Darnold" to "Send him packing." If he plays well and wins in LA, you will flip again! I had to suffer thru multiple seasons with Tommy Kramer, for God's sake!
JJ did not play an all star game in the national championship. He was jimmy G leading the 9ers to the superbowl except Michigan's defense was so dominant that game didn't come down to JJ missing a throw sinking them like it did the 9ers vs the chiefs. If KO insists on Reichert and he f’s up a kick and Sam loses it- promote Brian Flores to Head coach and trade KO - maybe not popular but you could tell immediately that Reichert looked scared on Sunday, and at the after game press conference KO was like he’s still our guy- he lost my vote. That kicker adjustment should’ve been made 2 games ago! We ain’t got time to deal with that BS, and we shouldn’t have to.
Now that Judd is officially OFF the Viking bandwagon...he needs to keep quiet when the Vikings make corrections and make a run in the playoffs. We'll see how your McCarthy stock does once he gets on the field (I hope he has the goods). McCarthy looks like he weighs 185lbs. I like the take about putting our kicker in IR...he needs time to reset. I still like him long term. Judd is out...he is off the Wagon. He can't have it both ways. Judd is starting to sound like a lot of the national media talking heads.
I said Phil’s first take right after Reichert kicked the kick-off out of bounds after getting lucky the previous one made it to the end zone. Geez Judd, it was Darnold’s first big game.
It's 99' all over again..."The Greatest Show on Turf."
don't forget the unicorn and rainbows scenario... both Green Bay and Washington win next week, then Green Bay goes to Detroit and the Vikings get a home game against Washington
Man some yall come up with some wild shit lol
Amen.
K O will get Darnold back on track. Probably something he's doing mechanically wrong
J.J. is my starting QB for next year and beyond
The Vikings need to sign or draft a top RB. Not these older backs that can't sprint to the endzone.
will be a great year to draft a rookie. This draft will be loaded with RB talent.
Vikes rarely capitalise on picks and needs sorting
Lions fans are the new Packer fans, Bears fans are the new Lions fans, and Packer fans are just more and bigger Packer fans. You can occasionally find individuals in either of the three fan bases that are intelligent and actually know football, but as a group, emotion and delusion rule them.
? Man.... Id hate to be a sad vikes fan. Lmfao
Lions fans aren’t that bad😂 I can tolerate them as long as they don’t win the Superbowl but I can’t stand Packers fans they boast even when they lose
@@banksda150 at least the lions are good...the packers are bad....but their fans think they're elite
packer fans are just crying out loud these days
@OliverPantsoff GB lives in ya sad vikes heads huh. Lmfao
#33 actually had his most productive rushing year of his career. I haven't heard you mention it.
Yes, we need a more consistent running game, but the above statement is still a fact!
It’s still largely underwhelming, good for him though
@Yamchas-corpse valid point, still most yards we have had by a single RB since 2020!!!
Hot take, I would rather sam get this stinker of a game out now rather than in the playoffs. We went on a 9 game win streak with him. This team can win it.
I blame KOC. He was trying to prove he could win by throwing the ball. Koc may Sam throw the ball 40 plus time. Way to many throws.
I’m with Judd on this one. 48 hrs ago, the masses were clamoring for trading JJ and giving Sam $80 mil / yr.
Now, those very same people are on the “cut Sam today and start Mullens the rest of the way” train.
The rushing thing that annoys me is the idea that Vikings are only allowed to run on 1st downs at the goal line.
Love the misery, dissension and apprehension! Go Packers!
Sam needs to step up and be a leader
Purple neurosis.
We would have had a nice lead going into halftime if Darnold could hit the open guys.
90% of the time we blitzed the lions got further down the field. Flores can’t adjust
I can't believe people were ever ready to give Darnold the brass ring. They will be more than fine next year rolling with JJ McCarthy.
Has one bad game after a 10 game win streak
*I KNEW IT*
If Sam was on, we win that game by7+ points easy
No shame in getting beat by a better team last night. 14-3 pretty good for a rebuilding year. No secret our interior o-line is inconsistent, measured and found lacking. The Rams are the next toughest match-up.
The best thing about that game last night is that it showed Sam ain’t the guy to get you to the SB. Move on to JJ that showed he can excel in prime time with his high quality play in the national championship. It may take awhile but Sam is not the guy.
What a bunch of sell outs you guys are! One bad game all year and you go from "sign Darnold" to "Send him packing."
If he plays well and wins in LA, you will flip again!
Darnold was a better prospect than JJ coming out of the draft by far. Darnold saved the vikes from making a trey lance level bad draft picks. Bo nix was the better choice there they should pay darnold get a first for JJ and get some IOL or DB help
@@rams3955 Darnolds Just Kirk Cousins 2.0 if you sign him High regular season wins first and second round playoff exits this was never suppose to get to this point JJ is the future lots of people don't understand Ball and it shows it's whatever and not the point.........JJ McCathy's Rookie Deal means Better players on the Team like Better Guards or Center for the interior Offensive line and Corner backs maybe even another expensive running back....The team building goes out the window paying Darnold 35-40-45mil a year its kirk cousins again so legit F Darnold let that overpriced Ryan Tannahill MF walk and be a raider or NY Giant or something the ride was fun but it's over everyone can come back when they lose to Los Angeles or Detroit IN a week or two so I can say the same shit again
@@DFWMentorone game that happens to be the MOST, don't forget, the MOST important game of the season so far. And he shat the bed.
@@xengthao6823 really? I'd say next week is by far the most important game of the season. We lose to the Lions... We play in a week. We lose to the Rams and season is over.
So I think if the Vikings were going to self implode, last night was the best time to do it. I'm giving Darnold a chance to bounce back in a playoff game.
Judd is 100% correct on Darnold
And 0% correct on McCarthy. Michigan had a great offensive line at Michigan, great running backs, stellar defense, above average receivers etc. He could win at Michigan by handing off the ball. Be careful what you wish for, I see Judd getting the excuses ready for JJ next year.
@@Razorbacks1 worse case scenario is mccarthy is the next jordan love....all he can do is hand the ball off too
First time Vikes had abundance of talent in QB room and koc couldn't pull darnold? Koc needs a taking to.
Love how KOC completely gets a pass as always it’s his inability to adjust and gain management is terrible
Said it all season, they need a slughammer/power rb that can slam into the middle
need a Rg like Will Fries Colt Fa 6-6 305 PFF 86.9 over all pass 74.9 run 84.9 or Liam Eichenberg 6-5 306 PFF over all 52.6 Pass 50.8 Run 57.8 center Falcon Drew Dalman 6-3/305 PFF overall 78.6 Pass 61.4 ran 79.6 or Austin Corbett CAR 6-4/305 PFF 62.9 Pass 66.8 run 59.3 and Ewan Brown CLe 6-3 320 Pff overall 67.3 Pass 74.1 and run 6.4 draft a strong running back in draft and then the vkings will run more
@@anthonyschuster6403 There's no way you think this is a readable comment.
Need at least two IOL and and a power back. They swung and missed on INgram but need to keep trying. One in FA, draft one. Majors for Texas is a big center who has played well for his career, Kwesi take note. Also, can't build a SB team solely in FA, have to hit on draft picks. Right now, 1 starter in 3 drafts...

The Vikings offense being historically bad is very Vikings
Only 10% to KOC is a joke!!! The way you guys kiss KOC's butt is almost as bad as the Kirky boy fanboys. He should have received at least 25% of the blame.
OK, I’m done with the negativity. Playoffs haven’t even started yet, and Judd is already looking to next year. I’m glad he’s very positive about next year, but I was kind of hoping we would win in the playoffs… I guess I should apologize?
IT’S ONE GAME.
Mackie, make sure you play ode to joy for Judd so he can take another victory lap about a crappy game from Darnold. At least I know now that if you talk positively about next week’s game, it’s incredibly disingenuous.
we need a dud stable from randy immediately
As per usual the Vikings don't have players that can make the big plays under the bright lights on the big stage!!!!!
The Vikings offense has always been S...A...W...F...T!!! Finess is our adjective. When you can't run the ball from the deep red zone, SAWFT!
40:05 “he has one job” lists two jobs lol
Now that Judd is officially OFF the Viking bandwagon...he needs to keep quiet when the Vikings make corrections and make a run in the playoffs. I do not want to hear his (Prisoner of the moment crap...he sells as a hot take) when Darnold bounces back next week. QB's have crappy games once in awhile.
Of course I was cursing him out all game, but I don’t necessarily think he is that guy. Having said that, I want to tag and trade him to get draft picks and stay the course with a cheap QB and stack the rest of the squad.
......It's Time To Call John Parker Romo Back...... I don't think Reichard is fully healthy
I gotta keep trying to tell myself Sam wasnt shaving points
Hitting the rams money line....easy money. Rams are very fortunate to draw the Vikings...gonna be a very ez win for them
