Awesome design !! I have one MINOR recommendation: When you remove the back fence, the two medal brackets are left behind and protrude inward. This effectively narrows the opening as well as becomes a potential snag hazard during the loading process. I would recommend flipping the brackets so they are permanently attached to the rear fence with the wing nuts going through the sides. That when when you remove the rear fence the brackets go with it.

A few suggestions.1) The rear angle irons brackets on the rear fence should be permanently affixed to the rear fence, not the side rails. As they are in this video, they create a clearance issue for wider equipment.2) The ramps on the sides appear useful but attaching
emoving them seems to take a fair amount of effort. Since this is a normal use of a utility trailer, perhaps creating a few channel irons front and rear would make this step easier. Simply lift them from their slot, use them, and return them to the same slots.3) Add a small toolbox on the tongue of the trailer. In this video I see you regularly laying hardware aside which in daily use may end up on my truck bumper or on the ground and lost. Having everything stored within the trailer makes this a self contained unit.Neat product overall.

These mods are absolutely genius! The set-up and design is outstanding and deserves a patent! Where this really shines is for solo operation, allowing a person to load difficult items safely by themselves. Very impressive! Thanks for sharing!

    Awesome design and beautiful result.
-May I recommend mounting a few 12” magnetic bars around the perimeter of the trailer so you can always secure loose hardware.
-Ive been making my own custom length magnet bars using the 2” x 1” x 3/8” craft magnets that are 2 for $1. I simply line them long end to long end and secure them all together with heat shrink. Make sure to leave an additional 3/4” to 1” of heat shrink on each end. That additional heat shrink hanging off each end is to screw thru for mounting. Also, use large washers for the mounting screws. If not the heat shrink will tear from the screw heads.

Wow you guys make them HF trailers look great.

    • @jnicksnewstart

King zulu 13 I agree, it looks pretty cool. The trouble is, the trailers are payload rated with absolutely no accessories or extras. This even includes the floor. If you add all these improvements and niceties to the 1000 pound trailer, your actual payload capacity could drop two or three hundred pounds. That would leave you with a seven or eight hundred pound payload capacity. HF trailers are fairly inexpensive and great for personalizing. This video is a good example. However, squeeze out the few extra bucks and keep your eye out for a coupon, and get the 1720lb.CAP. Well worth it. 5 lug wheels have a higher speed rating as well.

nice set up. I would put the wing nuts for the tale gate on the sides so the angle iron would not be in the way when loading. I also noticed you have weights on the back of your lawn tractor, they only have a aluminium housing on the transmission differential and it will crack or break in two. You can fill the tires with windshield washer fluid, it wont freeze and the weight is on the wheel where it should be. Have fun!

If I were to ever use a trailer this small with the jacks, I would switch the jacks out for drop-legs, would be so much faster.

You might notch a spot in the middle back and place a small pulley almost flush with the floor. So when winching the cable could ride in the grove of the pulley.

Nice job on all of your fabrications.
I didn't notice any comments about the cool roller wheel on the rear bottom to protect the re-located license plate/light assy while folding/entering driveways....... Awesome attn to detail.
    Also like the color.
I totally agree with the snag hazard on those gate brackets. So ya missed ONE~ the rest of this design is pure genius.
I do think I would add something to the ramps that would index to the vacated rear stake holes to prevent them from moving during un-loading more so than loading. I hate to admit how many times I've had un-secured ramps slip.

Dayum, that is a Cadillac build! :) While there is probably an almost 0 chance of any cable or winch failure w/o extreme neglect to maintenance, I'd probably make myself a little bracket to secure it folded.

I thought I spent a lot of time customizing my trailer--and I did. Yours is a masterpiece!
Mine is also tool-less, but I used hinges (instead of wing nuts) with long rods at all four corners to hold the sides together. It's very fast and secure.
Picture removing the individual hinge pins on a standard hung door and replacing them with a single long rod and you get the idea. The rods have 90 degree bends at the top to keep them from falling through and to make them easy to pull. The sides give just enough to mate the hinges. A small bevel grind makes them even easier to mate, if one feels the need.
Congratulations on solved the "dragging tongue" problem! Is this your design? Is it available?
I spent a ridiculous amount of time fixing what I saw as design deficiencies in the raw Harbor Freight trailer, which I now call a "kit". If I could have bought one all fixed up like yours, it would have been well worth it. Thanks for the video!

Where does one get the wheel in front under the hitch? It looks like a custom build since the original plate does not have a mounting spine for the wheel. I do like the idea of a threeway roller set.

What is being done to keep the 12v battery from leaking all over the place.
If someone uses a regular automotive battery or a motorcycle or a lawn tractor battery there will be sulfuric acid leaking and can eat the metal ????

Harold Cokayne He said he was using a "dry cell" battery, but any gel cell battery would work fine and they can't spill. Off-roaders use them all the time for that reason.
