You pretty much summarised my goal with this video to a tea. It brings me joy knowing I succeeded in my goal of helping people learn more about running styles and their extremes. Thanks for enjoying the video.

If I'm ever having a not-so-great day, I watch Calidoscopio's 2013 Brooklyn Handicap for inspiration. That, or 1964 Aqueduct Stakes, Kelso-Gun Bow.

Twin Turbo wooo! His character design in Umamusume definitely pushed it to the forefront. Even now people are clamoring for her in the mobile game. Silence Suzuka, well he's pretty famous partly because his death but the first season of Umamusume anime is basically split between him and Special Week.
This video is definitely a refreshing viewpoint for me since I was primarily exposed to the Japanese horseracing history. Glad to know that chasers (that's what us Umas fans call the style) have a definite niche outside of Japan.

always happy to expand peoples knowledges on horse racing. Uma Masume is a surprisingly good place to start when it comes to learning about horse racing. I didn't know chasers was the official term used for horses like Twin Turbo but it certainly is fun to say. Glad you enjoyed the video.

@@SketchyTheHorseGuy _Chasers_ are horses that hung back in the opening stages of the race, like how Rich Strike won the Kentucky Derby. Horses that lead the race since the beginning like Twin Turbo are termed _Runners._ Between them are _Leaders_ and _Betweeners_ depending on where they wait before implementing their winning strategy. Of course, there are madlad horses that can do all four, Mayano Top Gun being one of them.
It's really more of a classification from the spectators than hard-and-fast strategy.

Just subbed because of the Gallop Racer music lol. Lots of great horses here, good job on the video. Not featured in the video but perhaps my favorite horse to win by a crazy margin is Hokuto Vega in the 1995 Empress Hai by 18 lengths. This was her first time on dirt and a sloppy track at that, which made her victory that much more impressive.

Big thanks, i'm glad someone noticed the Gallop Racer music in the back because it works so well if I need horse racing music music quick. For the vid you sent thats quite a destructive kick that horse had I can see why you love her performance it was a bold experiment trying the dirt and slop but it worked great for her and she won in style.

@@SketchyTheHorseGuy No problem, the music BGM from the GR series is great. Very similar to Gran Turismo’s menu music in a way. Some more info I dug up on HV was that she had a relatively solid stint as a turf horse until her performances started declining once she got older. So much so, her owners had plans to convert her into a steeplechase horse until they decided to put her in that dirt race I’ve shared and well, you see how that worked out. After that race, she went on a 12 race winning streak with victories such as the February Stakes, one of 2 of JRA’s top dirt races. Unfortunately, her career had a very sad ending in her first overseas race as she broke down heading into the final stretch in the 1997 Dubai World Cup. Due to quarantine regulations in Dubai, her remains couldn’t be shipped back to Japan and only her mane was possible to be shipped. Her fans gave her the nickname “The Queen of the Sand” and is highly regarded as one of Japan’s top dirt horses. Apologies for the long post lol, but I feel there’s a lot of underrated Japanese horses that don’t often get talked about and she’s one of them. Keep up the great work, can’t wait to see more from you!
