    I’ve not tried this before but your detailed explanations should prove to be a winner when I try it. Thankyou

      It takes some maneuvering in the corners but once you get over that little lump in the fabric, it's so easy.

    I hadn't seen that kind of joining on a binding and I kinda like it, it seems easier. I'll have to try it. Thank you Adam!!!

    I’ve been doing my binding on the frame but never thought about finishing that way! That takes a lot of steps out for me, THANK YOU!

    Had no idea the machines don’t like to stitch right to left! Good to know for when I get my machine. Thanks for all your videos!

      Sometimes it's not a problem, it just depends if your long arm likes you that day or not.

    I’m so glad you said it doesn’t like to stitch right to left! I keep getting shredding of my top thread on long straights right to left, I thought it was just me 😊

      Oh yes, sometimes Taco plays nice but other times, we have to agree to disagree. :)

    Cute project! I quilt right to left a lot and rarely, if ever, have an issue. I do keep my tension a little looser, maybe that helps. Or, maybe it's dumb luck. I don't know. Anyway, great project and those square feet are on my Christmas list now. Thanks! :)

      I don't think I have a specific video showing them, they just come with practice.

    That is a really cute little panel and I think I love this method of binding! I’m am wondering if this method is just for a small project or if it can also be used on a larger quilt? It seams like it might be a lot of extra work to have to take a quilt off to do all four sides. Just curious on your thoughts.
    Also, loved the banjo! You were almost going in time with it! 😂. Thanks for sharing this. It was really interesting.

    Adam , where can I find that sweet flamingo block. I’ve searched with no luck. Thanks

      It’s a panel by Gingiber from the Zoology line. It’s about 2 years old I think.

      A few different sellers on Etsy have this panel listed (as of Nov 26, 2022).

    what size (width binding do you normally make?? I like 2 1/2" and usually use 3/8" when I am sewing it on

    • @adamsewfun.
      @adamsewfun.  4 роки тому +2

      I usually cut mine 2 1/2 or 2 1/4 and sew them on with 1/4 inch. To use the feet, you either have to sew them 1/4 or 1/2 unless you eyeball the extra 1/8 inch.

      Yeah, I tried to turn it up all the way on my side. I think was as too far away from the microphone. I have taken note and have a different microphone I can use when I'm not a little closer. I'm sorry.

    It doesn't like to stitch right to left? I thought a long arm was supposed to be able to stitch in any direction. Is this just true of HQ, or is it common with all brands? I will be in the market for a long arm this spring, and since this is the first time hearing this, it seems important to understand.

    • @adamsewfun.
      @adamsewfun.  3 роки тому +1

      It's true for all sewing machines. They are engineered to stitch one way. A lot of machines have fun multi-directional stitching abilities but you wouldn't use them to just stitch reverse all the time. It's they way the hook in the sewing machine works. On a long arm, when stitching normal, the timing is set so the hook catches the loop under the fabric and crates the stitch. When stitching a straight line from right to left, you are bringing the thread closer to the hook and this could lead to shredding the thread. It's all about how the timing is set. If you are stitching a design that is back and forth and flowing, you will have no issues. Some just don't like straight line right to left. If you look at the quilts I make and post on my social media, I do a lot of straight line quilting. I have no issues with my Handi Quilter most of the time, I just always make a point to mention there could be issues. If you have long arm issue and questions, feel free to send me an email, always happy to chat and answer questions for people, especially those in the market. There are a lot to choose from and lots of info out there.

      @@adamsewfun. This makes complete sense. Thank you for taking time to respond! Of all the videos I've watched, I've never seen anyone stitching a straight line from right to left in a long, continuous line, so it had never come up. And I had it in my mind that FMQ allows for any direction and had not considered there being an issue until your video. Am glad to know this now, as it will save confusion later when my new Amara arrives in a couple of weeks. :) I will be seeing you at Stitch House Dallas at some point, I'm sure. Thanks again!

      Hi Judith, I'm sorry to hear that you were having trouble with the audio. Did you try to turn up you volume? I have asked others if they had any issues and so far, you are the only one. Thanks for the input though, I will make sure I work on it when I am editing the next one.
