Bless u for this project! Those of us who were unable to meet Swamini Turiyasangitananda (Alice Lucille Coltrane) while she walked this Earth with breath in her living body now can connect with her through Kirtan...it brings chills to me as tears well in my eyes. I now have the gift that I thought was lost since Turiya passed before I even knew she existed. I was looking for her in my heart and soul since 1994, when I left my very first stay and study at an American Ashram. I found many other incredible Black American women Yoginis, but NOT any Swamini that embodied my own culture and inheritance...I am OVERJOYED by the mere existence of Turiya, and can't believe I didn't know she was HERE, on this planet all the time I needed to find her....From 1994 until her passing in 2007. I learned of Turiya's existence only after I LEFT southern California and started teaching Yoga and Meditation in Washington, DC in 2012. The irony blows my mind. Now, my students listen to her thanks to such amazing efforts of LOVE. May the memory and the SOUND of Swamini Turiyasangitananda be a BLESSING to ALL! Ah'o!
It's great to find other blacks who subscribe to Hindu concepts and see the greatness of Krishna and Bhagavad-Gita. I'm proud of her for expressing her spirituality this way. It's a whole community out here.
I agree the original frequency needs to be heard by the masses! A lot was changed now it sounds like a remembrance to her where as the original sounds more like rejoicing and gratitude.
Important music. Eternally thankful to have found Alice's music and have it in my life. She's a gift that keeps on giving, a beautiful soul and guiding light.
You're simply the best Better than all the rest Better than anyone; anyone I've ever met I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say Tear us apart - baby - I would rather be dead.
Need the synths and stringsssss 😢 I’m such a big fan of this album but I wish the vision was fully respected. These feel like naked compositions. I’ve always respected Alice Coltrane for pushing away conventionalism in her compositions, in this feels like they watered down. It’s still beautiful, but it doesn’t take that same punch.
An embarrassment. Leave already great work alone! It seems to me that the spirit of Turiya Sings has been completely subdued by contemporary notions of cleanness. Of clean sound, of intelligible voice. In this release, in its original form, there was a certain magic that was invoked precisely through the subduction of her voice by the systematized droning organ chords-it was the pious symbolic chant drowned in the "material" real of the synthesizer-it was the sainthood within impersonal profanity that made the singing precious and beautiful. Now it is powerful and debonair and without spirit.
Your words are not backed up by the saints who glorify kirtan as a means to praise the Lord. Their verdict is that whatever is used to glorify the Lord becomes spiritualized. So if you use the synth as accompaniment to the holy names of the Lord, that synth becomes spiritualized. No more material energy.
Bless u for these words! EXCELLENT response to those who have such opinions when they listen without the SPIRIT of glorifying the LORD in connection to the ONE who glorify kirtan@@raghava4099

release the original cassette version!! we don't care if the sound isn't as good. It's BRILLIANT, that version!
Is there more of a synth and strings+ organ sound on that one?? Cuz this does sound a little different. Still good tho!
@@visceralintentions9189 yes exactly the original had some beautiful synths!!! totally missing from this newer release.
@@FogAndLime That’s so disappointing, because I am obsessed with the original. These new versions are beautiful, but not the same.
I agree the original frequency needs to be heard by the masses! A lot was changed now it sounds like a remembrance to her where as the original sounds more like rejoicing and gratitude.
I believe the family wasn’t able to find the original master tapes of the synths which is why they don’t appear on this mix
I’ve not heard the synth version-I love the simplicity of her amazing voice and the organ, here. And the Melodies-totally unique 🙏
Thank you 💐ALICE COLTRANE💐
