Thanks for taking the time to describe locomotive wheel arrangements. There are folks out there that would call this locomotive as a 0 - 2 - 1 (which is wrong) and argue with you about it. These are the same folks that would call this LOCOMOTIVE a train. (wrong again) A train requires a LOCOMOTIVE and at least5 one car, or wagon, or whatever you wish to call it. So, your clearing the air, a bit, is both interesting and helpful. I think your friend James is going to learn a great deal, from the master, and have both a challenge and a ton of fun for some time to come. ;-)
I’m a keyboard player. I was googling your name and found just ONE video of you playing organ . Man alive, you are a professional player, better than most I’ve seen. Do you , or have you ever played professionally, because, if not, you should start TODAY . I WAS BLOWN AWAY.
I was a full time professional keyboard player from 18 to 32, then I opened my recording studio in 1984 which is still going today. Thank you for your kind comment.
Thank You for sharing this video with us. This will be an informative and fun build to watch. I hope it’s fun for you too. You also stay safe and extremely Healthy.
The boiler looks just the same as the one I got with my part build sweet pea with the 4 water inlet ports and blast pipe through the boiler. It has a 5 digit serial number but I don't know who made it. I steamed mine in the garden a few years ago but have never run it on a track. I want to try to run it this year, get the full boiler certificate then try to sell it as I can't see me ever really using it. Look forward to this series !
Well. I WAS going to ask about three questions, but as the video proceeded, you answered them all. I have ONE left, if you please: Can you put some kind of sealant on the smokebox door mating surfaces, to help with the seal, and provided the dart still reaches, or is it proper to just have a good metal to metal fit? Thanks for the previous answers, too. Cheers, Keith
Almost as if by fate haha, I'm very much a beginner and just managed to get a lathe. Only the last day or two I decided that I was going to build a sweet pea!

Metal to Metal is all that is required.
Any advice on working underneath an engine like this? But scared of just leaning it on its side.😮
Do what I do - use folded Bubble Wrap ........
@@keithappleton thanks Keith. That's worth a try!
