Excellent video man! First one I’ve seen that mentioned greasing the bearings without a shield. Good call! Also nice to see some of the transmission assembly. Great work and I look forward to the next video. I have my kit but no electronics. Saving up so I can build everything at once. Those servos are calling me…I think it’s gonna be a Tekin beast when all is said and done!!
Great build instruction...Thanks I have not started to build mine yet....To be honest I have never used Tekin electronics ...Motors by Tekin I have quite a few....
Awesome appreciate you sharing, I definitely have to have one of these. But it ain’t gonna be till next summer, I’ll be following the rest of the build, this is the beauty of this hobby yeah I love it until next time
Sounds like The ancient skill battery powered driver could use some grease in that old gearbox. That thing sounds absolutely terrible in my noise canceling headphones. 🤣 Love the content. 🤙
It's a great setup! The more motor revolutions you can get per tire revolution really increases low speed control. I am a big fan of more KV and gearing as low as possible, so I'll be gearing this truck with a 10T pinion.
@@600tian5 I can imagine that but the phoenix has the better chassie, a nice transmission and food axels. I dont likr the look of the steering gear in fromt of the axles from the scx10. Also i heard that the trans is pretty shid
@@Nico-bv6hi Knight Customs has files so you can print mounts and inner fenders for the Axial JL body and it'll all fit on the VS4-10 chassis. I haven't printed mine yet but I plan to this winter!
Same as the normal VFD. I know some 540L motors fit by removing the end cap on the motor or there is a motor plate out there someone makes that is thinner so the motor can be mounted further forward.
@@TekinRacing faif rc in spain make a machined plate that will allow for 550 cans. Im thinking about getting one and running a 2300 412 hd for the torque. What do you think?
Top notch video... you would be the only person I've ever noticed packing the spool carrier bearings.. solid instructions 👌
I run my trucks in wet conditions all the time, those bearings definitely last longer being packed!
Pro tip! 🍯
Where the heck do the two little silver shims go?

Thank you for watching! Enjoy your build, it is a good one!
Ty does an excellent job with the videos. Awesome
Thanks for watching Tom!

Great instructional build and tips. I always wondered if the non-shielded retainer bearings should be greased up.
Personally I think they should be. I started doing it about a year ago since I drive in water and snow a lot.

The dang thing just won't die!
So when are you guys coming out with a ROC 612 motor?Or a 6 pole motor.
Great video. Is the 3100 motor too much for this crawler? What’s it like to crawl with the 3100?

@@lstruggy yep!
Is it possible to fin another body onto it or does it take alot of mods? I'd like to get the look of a wrangler
Any body can be made to fit! You could easily put posts on the shock towers and mount just about any body you'd like to.
@@TekinRacing Nice to hear, i'm fairly new into the crawler world so every advice is appreciated. You think it's worth it to buy the phoenix?
@@Nico-bv6hi If you like the look of a wrangler get a SCX10 III. Much easier.

What size gear are you running on the motor? 15T?
10T pinion on this one.

@@davew1285 I have seen that and I say, why not? I don't personally think it's needed, but we always want more power just because we want it.
When is pt2 coming?
Friday! Sorry for the delay, got held up a bit by things outside of work.

On the output shaft on each axle, then the drivelines can go on.
