With some of the wild rule changes Mike said, some of them could actually work quite well in the All Star game, like the turnover point deduction. The one I would like to see in the game is a Flagrant 1 being a 2 minute timeout for the player

Pacers fan here, just wanna add if Myles Bruce or Buddy were hitting any of their 3s at an expected rate, we likely see the Lakers change up the defensive scheme almost instantly. Caitlin Cooper made the point that teams have already tried blitzing the Pacers like this but I think our normally deadly outside shooting makes them have to change up the defensive scheme in a way that reopens the floor for Rese and the rest of the offense (also having AD as the secondary defender/pass denier is literally insane)

i think the reason there isn’t the same rivalry’s in the nba is mainly the fans and player loyalty. In the premier league players that are rivals with another team would be scrutinised and respected the club they play for enough that they would never join a rival. There is also geographic discrepancies where cities close by genuinely hate their rivals (such as arsenal and totteham in north london)
I think the fans are the only part of rivalries that remain in all of American sports. When the Celtics and Knicks or Celtics and 76ers are both good at the same time, the fans hate each others teams. But the players don’t give af unless there’s some personal beef.
Even in the mlb, the Red Sox Yankees rivalry is dying. Maybe it’s because they both aren’t good rn but the only ones who seem to care are the fans. There’s been more trades between the franchises in the last 5 years than there has been in the last 100 years, they used to just not help eachother no matter what.

For the drop the Mike I’ve always thought if someone passes the ball to someone who gets fouled and makes the free throws it should count as an assist. I know it would ness up record and stuff but I just thought it would be cool, maybe each free throw is worth 1/2 a point, but then what about 3pt fouls, it would be weird to have happen but I think it could be a fun experiment
I don’t think it should count as an assist just because there’s way too much history involved to start changing the stats. Then we’d have like 8 guys averaging 13 apg and it would really hammer home the stats era kinda sucking for casual fans.
But I do think it should be tracked because a pass to foul is a pass to score. Just call it a different thing like track players PTFs (pass to fouls) because if Hali leads the league in apg and ptf then it’s definitely a notable thing.

Whole 10 min segment of Bucks defense when in OT they held the Bulls to 0-9 FG to start the period. Dame is 88th percentile on defense. Bucks starting lineup have the 2nd best Net Rating from starters (+17.8), they are missing 2 of their top 8 rotational players. P.S. LaMelo had 37 pts on 28 shots more turnovers (6) than assists (5) and was a -18 in 35 mins in that game. Was his worst game in his insane 11 game stretch prior to getting injured in Orlando. Media ganging up on the Bucks as if they've started 9-8 like the Heatles is INTERESTING to say the least (they have a top 5 record in the league) and get no praise for their offense being top 2. They've also been 15th on defense since the 5th game of the szn where the Bucks went back to Brook in drop coverage...

I agree with Kenny tho it’s way too free. Like if you shoot 80% from the line and 33% from 3 you’ll still in average score more points shooting the 3 every time. And no nba player who shoots techs would be a 33% 3pt shooter with no defense in front of them, you forget that a lot of players go like 10/10 from 3 in warmups.

If a player shoots 90% from the free throw line, they would have to shoot 60%+ on the wide open 3 for it to be worth doing.
0.9 x 2 = 1.8 points per foul at 90% FT.
1.8 / 3 = 0.6 = 60%

I’m not opposed to that but definitely test it in the g league first. 4 on 4 makes the most sense because 3 on 3 would just be a shoot off. Tbh idk if you can even do this in the nba today because the spacing is already too crazy, that would just make it even worse for defense.

In my opinion, the next face of the league is so obviously Jayson Tatum. He hasn't won a championship, but as you guys mentioned he's only 25. To me he's head and shoulders above other players in his age bracket in terms of accolades and accomplishments in this league. He's also currently the most endorsed player in the league. Listening to his interview on the Point Forward has also allowed me to realize that a lot of other NBA players also believe Tatum is the next face.
I agree but i think the reason he doesn't get as much praise is because his counting stats dont pop out at you, i love Luka but at a certain point you have to look at the overrall impact and not how many rebounds and assists they average

OKC has the best future in the NBA. Shai is statistically most similar to Jordan and Kobe. (Those are literally his closest comparisons according to Blended NBA similarity rating).
And he’s got everything skill wise to be able to do it. SGA is that guy.

make the divisions matter again: the winner of each division is guaranteed a top 3 conference seed, leaving seeds 4-6 as safe spots since the playin tourney is still ongoing. for example, west would look like 1) Wolves 2) Mavs 3) Kings 4) Thunder 5) Denver 6) lakers then playin spots… could make for really interesting matchups and upsets which people are always a fan of. I guess it’ll kind of mirror the nfl’s playoff.

Conference games(10 teams) 3 games each = 30
Non-conference games (15 teams) 2 games each = 30

If they decrease the amount of games from 82 to something like 61 or 50, then each game matters more! Thats why football is so exciting… they probably wouldn’t do it because they lose out on money, but players would play more, more breaks between games, less games each night (instead of like 12 on a random night),and each game matters a lot more!
