Bad people exist everywhere, I am white and was beat up by a officer and his partner one night. I have also had awesome encounters with police, including them keeping me out of trouble and helping me. Police have a very difficult job and always deserve respect. Sometimes you run into bad people, but fighting back isn't helpful. Let that weak man get his aggression out. I left being scrapped up and bruised, learned to just not really talk to police unless they ask specific questions.

nothing will change unless people start voting for what they want. unfortunately, its very easy for politicians to lie on TV and say what people want to hear. so you have situations like Gavin Newsome being re-elected. you have situations like Chicago booting Lori Lightfoot but replacing her with another leftist loon with exactly the same policies. you have situations like NYC re-electing kathy hochul. so at the end of the day, you are correct - these communities are getting EXACTLY what they voted for and nobody can say anything different because even when presented with an opportunity for change, they actually re-elect the same people. its beyond my understanding.

My friend worked as a Police Officer, he said that they would risk their lives and break their backs to catch perpetrators, only to see them released shortly thereafter.
Not being respected rather detested by the community that wants to defund you while dealing with crazy people everyday, heavily underpaid while they expect you to be in the line of fire are awful incentives. I'ts the same story with the Military, they have problems recruiting because systematically straight white working class males are being demeaned in every way in society - I mean they are the biggest demographic for these jobs, but are being spat upon in schools, colleges, media, entertainment - Called privileged, supremacists, racists..

Cops are underpaid, but not in the way that most people think. Many city agencies are offering starting wages of over $100K PLUS signing bonuses of up to $40K. As a patrol officer, I have earned over $100K in four months and $250K in 9 months. I was on track for a $335K year in 2019, but I retired at the end of September.

This is quite literally what people asked for. When you create an environment that is hostile towards those that enforce the law, they will not enforce the law there.

    • @davidchapman3375
      @davidchapman3375 5 місяців тому

Okay boot licker. 1st: you cannot ever "enforce" a law. A True Law is binding and immutable, requiring nothing to assist its existence nor does it change based upon time of day, imaginary boundary lines, or from the perception of anything within the confines of its parameters. You mean to say when people are not obedient and not punished to your satisfaction or those with your same worldview, then police quit. Moral relativism is wholly immoral and a complete fiction. The idea that 1 man can somehow gain the power or "authority" to create dictates that others must obey or else they have violence of some form or another visited upon them is broken logic and irrational. If no 1 person possess this so called authority, then no group of persons can ever properly delegate that which they do not possess. Further, the required enforcement of this fiction highlights the invalid logic of this concept. If it were real, you wouldn't need to create the illusion of such a thing through coercion and threats of violence if x is not obeyed then...I will send the costumed tools with guns to threaten you or fine you or imprison you for not doing as I say!!! The ego to believe such a thing is "Right" is really hard to fathom. Then you have the word authority itself. The suffix ity is an imaginary noun which is defined as something that can only exist in the realm of the mind. ie like electricity is not actually real but merely a way to describe the transfer of electrons through a conductive material. Authority is used as an inversion and perversion of Truth to foster the pragmatic illusion of control via language manipulation, perception manipulation, and the creation and maintaining of power differential through ones own knowledge of Truth and the ignorance of anyone else. This idea and concept is true , yes, it is not however based in Truth nor what is real, nor what is real and moral. It boils down to the very simple concept of the difference between right vs wrong or moral vs immoral and the ability to discern one from the other via the initiation of action and whether or not that initiatory act causes harm to another person or their property. It's sad that the world is still so very clueless on these concepts and also the reason the govt wants to educate your children ad early as possible.

I spent 8 years in the Military as a Military Police and went to become a Police Officer ! I decided to attend college and became a teach when I graduated! Sometimes I still think back and after watching all the problems a Police Officer must endure I'm glad I didn't! After watching the recent Baltimore City Riots I spoke to many officers that were there and many have left the department as the Mayor at that time did nothing but laugh at the destruction these thugs did to private business and especially destroying expensive Police Vehicles. They threw bottles at the Police. Still today nothing has changed to protect these officers. The same groups are on the streets doing what they please!! Citizens want police protection yet none are there to back them up. I live out in the country and I can say our police are well respected!! Our arrests and conviction is around 75-80%.

I had the opposite experience just cops who don't care. Seems to depend on the neighborhood but if you're poor you get the worst cops and rich neighborhoods pay a lot more and get the better ones. As a whole law enforcement in this country isn't focused on serving or protecting. Local cops write tickets. FBI and so forth focused on schemes like infiltrating a gang or something. If you report crime to them they mostly ignore you and won't help them harass you for walking down the street or not using a turn signal which causes people to hate cops and law enforcement. Just like they let murderers and rapists go but lock you up for five years for weed. Now they got the q anon shamon in there for three years basically for trespassing on public property.

A friend from the U.S. visited us for 2 weeks in Switzerland and told us, it is actually worse than we see on TV! What‘s happening to these black communities? I used to think the prejudice against us (e.g. not family oriented) was exaggerated until lately I had to counsel some black couples. Here when Europeans split or divorce, they focus on their children, to minimize damage to the kids as much as possible! When black couples here divorce, both use the kids as leverage to hurt the other. Recently one such kid (only 14) took his dad‘s car (dad would let him drive it) hit a tree with other kids in there. The shocking thing though is how the police reacted! The law is just too weak!

this is absolutely true. I've noticed the number of gross negligent errors made by police on bodycam footage has risen drastically in the last year, and i think it's due to lower hiring standards because the cops in these videos are clearly corrupt people knowingly abusing their power. Previously, like 99% of bodycam incidents were genuinely good cops trying to do the right thing in hard situations and sometimes it doesn't work out. Basically I've been seeing less George Floyd style incidents where the situation was very grey and more Daniel Shaver types of incidents where the cops are clearly in the wrong.

The only way would be to cast them in a positive light again and start uplifting the police force in you want good cops to return, even though most cops are decent, it's just they're portrayed in a bad light and we only see the bad incidents. Unless ofc, you want police to continue going downhill until they no longer exist, then yea keep going on this path. I actually agree that we should try that, get rid of police all together for awhile, that way people can see what it's like without them and then will realize what they were complaining about wasn't a big deal compared to living in a criminal wasteland, they'll beg for them back and then we can move on with our lives.

Same principal applies here, it’s also really hard to be a police officer these days I would imagine, considering the fact that their profession has been turned into a political weapon, quite literally for either side of the arguments that we see on television whenever anything with “ the police “ come up.

I’m a transit operator and we have police officers and correction officers coming to become bus drivers because they were tired of being stressed out and being disrespected. Also the pay is the same as any civil job. The community are the opposite with bus drivers, they appreciate them more than law. They love it here. Maybe the police department should connect more with community as the bus drivers do. And we don’t have any weapons to give authority. Also give jobs to the community, not private school students living in the community. Really engage to the inner city kids to become civil workers and teachers, not make money and take it to the outside suburban communities. And you will see a change, but that can also take the jobs from the outside towns of a higher paying city. 🤔

Just because people cry about it being in middle or high school, doesn’t make it real as it is only taught at the college level.

I'm a police chief in a small town in Alaska. We too are having problems recruiting. If you or someone you know is interested in law enforcement and wants a good paying job, is motivated to enforce laws while working with the community as a member of the community, and have a strong moral compass, look any of us up. Any agency in Alaska has it better than the madness going on in the big cities. Yes, my town may be like Mayberry in the Andy Griffith show, but that's what allows me and my officers to go to work in a place that supports and respects us. We get to be part of the community and know everybody while making a good wage.

There is no more peace there is no more waiting for justice if you don't understand that in 2023 as a human being when a black person says that then you need to disappear from from this planet because when I'm saying is it really hard to understand there is a route to this problem and you cannot say it's just because they're ungrateful and ghetto are you f****** serious you stupid people.... for even saying ungrateful because you're not even pointing the reason why he even got to that point why we de-stress police officers why we don't want them in the neighbors because of the s*** that they do what they've been doing the in justices that they've been doing the racial disparities that they always continue to push and never seem to want to fix so you're telling me ungrateful f*** you because you don't know how it feels to be black and to be hated by the police just because of your skin color it is that simple that's simplistic. For you to say that we don't want you we don't want your life because you're not worth it we don't want people like you because you're not down for morality you're not down for honesty and you're not down for uplifting human rights because for you just to say that simple comment showed you that you're just another bigot not wanting to deal with the real issue is in the issue is the Reformation of police officers of the wrongdoing and the out-of-control drugs that started because of the police in the 90s look at the show The wire you're telling me that you're just going to blame black people 2023 just because you're not telling me there is not a cause of it does not a cause of this disparity?????

      1. Is past use of marijuana (at least once a week but stopping about a year ago) but no other drug use at all an automatic disqualifier? I live in a legal state but have been told that it is still a deal breaker in my area.
      2. Does a criminal justice degree matter or would finance/ economics suffice?
