Dennon & DJ TLM 4 the win! Both always on the forefront of new innovations keep it coming !
Nice and simple. Expensive but simple.
Expensive?!. Dood try buying 2 pioneer nxs 2000 ..you will understand what expensive is
Wonderful. The dual deck it’s one of the most useful new features of this CDJ/controller. I can stay one or two steps ahead, what give to me more time to interact and even read the crowd. I also use to load the same song that is playing to get some new cue points for sampling, while the other player already have a new song ready to go.
Can I use the SC5000 decks with the Rane 72? If so what if any caveats are there? Any info would be great. Thanks as always
hi how are you i have a question can i use my sertado sl2 box with the denon prime players ? and with that can i use only one player to control 2 decks on serato dj ?
thanks for the video... do you feel any lag or latency when using the platters when scratching with either usb audio or serato controller mode?
I don't think so @ lag, but I still have to get used to the feeling of the platters. I will be doing more tests for the full review
Eu não consegui fazer funcionar , segundo um conhecido meu, a Denon DJ tem de liberar um código par vc destravar a função de controlador . Como proceder ?
Question so you can control the sampler as well from denon sc5000?
Awesome video as usual, is a powered USB hub a must? I've used CDJs a ton with a regular hub with no issues but is there anything different about the denon players that would require power?
Actually, I just got some new info and it turns out that you can use the SC5000 as a Powered USB hub! It has two USB 3.0 ports on the back so you could connect one unit to your laptop and connect unit 2 to unit 1.
So no, you don’t need it :)
Oh what. That's incredible. Thanks for the reply but wow, I need these players NOW.
djTLMtv if I'm not mistaken, is there 2 usb ports in the rear, and 1 up front, totaling 3-3.0 hubs????
Sorry, but one thing is not clear to me. You say you have to connect your serato laptop directly to the X1800, but then do you still need to connect the players to your laptop via USB to use them as controllers? Even if they are connected via the network hub on the mixer?
I just got this setup and it certainly appears that it takes two usb ports on the laptop to setup serato. This thing is a hot mess compared to the mcx8000.
I found a video showing the connections.
ua-cam.com/video/yyFy2n2ggdM/v-deo.html
The USB out from player 1 goes to USB 3 on player 2. And What cable is in USB 2? There is 1 cable going from the mixer to the laptop
Man this was a really dope video, well done.
I'm thinking about getting that setup and adding the Rane 12's to it.
What do you think about the new SC5000M? I would love to get your take on them.
Myself I'm not sure just yet.
Drashawn Clay I love the M. I prefer the moving platters and they feel really nice.
I'm having trouble finding a travel case for my x1800 mixer. Do you have any suggestions?
im having trouble with changing which decks on serato are controlled by the SC5000 both CDJ’s are playing on the same deck 1 on serato
How does it work? Do you need to pay extra licence to serato as It is says on the official serato page serato pro upgrade to work them as you showed on the video?
@@djTLMtv Hi, I have recently purchased the same denon set. Do i have to buy a dvs expansion to use it with serato? or i have to buy the full club kit? I already have serato dj pro(came with my denon mc7000)
I was able to use dvs when i connected the sc5000 to the mc7000. It won't connect to serato by itself. pls help thank you
This is a great explanation on how to set it all up. I bought the powered hub an boom! all running great. My only issue is this. When recording, serato still hasn't fixed the bug where it stops recording if you try and use dual layers. So as a short term fix, my question is probably obvious to many but you will have to forgive me as i am new to this hardware and software. Could i just play my set using thumb drives(using layers and so on) and record it directly into serato DJ Pro? whats the best way to connect it up?
What's the brand of the powered USB hub in the video? I like the profile of it, but can't make out the name.
I would have to check. If I’m right someone asked this in the comment section some time ago and I answered then. Maybe you can find that comment before I can check my hub 😁
Good video man. Thanks
after a year how do you still feel about the SC5000? Im thinking about moving from a DDJ-SX to a single SC5000 or SC5000m with a Pioneer S9 for mobile use. Would you recommend something else? I just got a pair of Rane 12's also but feel it is too bulky for mobile so this is why im thinking about the SC5000's.
Also what hub are you using? I have one but I feel like the USB from the unit is too short. I would like to have the hub stay in the case.
Thanks TLM...
I can imagine that two large players and a mixer isn't the most convenient setup for mobile use. It all depends on what features you need. Even though the SC5000 has the dual layer feature, I would still prefer to have two decks and a mixer in the middle. But that's me. If I would pick a controller without moving platters it would be the DDJ-1000 and otherwise it would be the NS7III. If I'm picking a full setup I would go for the Twelves just because of the 12" platters. However, having the option to have standalone functionality and controller functionality, the XDJ-RX2 or MCX8000 could be an option as well.
As you can tell, I'd have a hard time picking a setup as well ;)
I'd have to check which usb hub that is. And as far as my opinion about the SC5000: I still think it's the most versatile media player. But my standard setup (right now) still is the S9 with two turntables
lol thanks for the response.
I did eventually return the Rane 12s (which I loved) but i do 2-4 gigs every weekend and in most cases a setup that big doesn't fit. I did want to get the DDJ-1000 but have not committed to RekordBox yet. Im using Serato Pro + MixEmergency (i do video gigs twice weekly).
I eventually got a single CDJ-2000 (which in the beginning I was hesitant because of the price) but the platter on that unit is fantastic. Some will say it is a crazy investment for the price but since I am only using 1 (with instant doubles) and I need it to be reliable and feel responsive (which it is) and hopefully any needed support will be good being that it is a premium product made by Pioneer it felt like a good investment...and after using it exclusively this weekend its hard to put it down. I really only use the platter, pitch bend and the hot cue buttons.
So long comment short..I have a Pioneer S9 with a CDJ-2000 (in HID) nested in a Pro-X 1 mixer/1CJD case. Small and clean....now if they eventually release a serato enabled DDJ-1000 I will look into moving into that setup to regain a 2nd deck.

Also if you are looking for a good USB hub I use this Anker hub. For a test I had all USB devices (S9/CDJ2000/4GB HDrive) on it for 6 hours and it ran smooth. I know your not supposed to run the mixer on a hub but I think this hub has enough power per port so maybe that is why it worked? not sure

and I agree with having a pair or 12's. Im from the 90's myself and nothing beats that feel...but crossing over to 41 my setups need to agree with my aging body. lol. anyways thanks for the videos and advice. All the best!
Hey @djTLMtv, any suggestions to have a custom logo showing while in controller mode with Serato DJ?
doesn't work for me, the sc5000m wont see/detect my laptop.....it just keeps scanning
yes, i've updated all the drivers and firmwares.
the x1800 seem to work, but the sc5000m, nothing
Thanks for the video very informative. will the serato video work in hibrid mode ?
Do I follow the same instructions if I'm using rekordbox?
I use Stanton vinyl turntables. Would this mixer work with serato scratch timecode ??
It can be used with Serato if you have the Serato Club Kit. That allows you to use Serato with several mixers. Check the Serato website just to be sure
You don't say that a serato dj pro hardware is provided. Without SC5000 is not usable.
This is to denon DJ when are we gonna get a controller with jog wheels like those
Yeah true! Imagine the MCX8000 (which is already a fantsatic controller as it is) with the jog wheels of the SC5000! #Perfection
Will the SC5000 work in HID mode with a DJM-900SRT?
Snert The DJ I haven’t tried that yet. When my SRT is back in the studio I can test that
is possible control mode with traktor and sc5000?
I don’t have the x1900 trying to connect my sc5000m to my mcx8000 dvs ready & it’s failing to connect I have the latest firmware update and have the usb out going into my MacBook Pro and the other usb from the Mcx8000 into the other USB port into my MacBook Pro
And if you use djm s9 and not denon mixer ?
How do the platters feel? What would you compare them to
I’m not sure (yet). I need to get a bunch of players and controllers and compare it. It feels ok, but I will always prefer spinning platters.
djTLMtv well here’s to hoping that Rane makes you one the first people to tear out their new equipment those look like a game changer
djTLMtv I guess also how would you compare them to CDJs since that’s their direct competition
When you connect the 2 sc5000 prime, where did you connect the other end?
Can you hid the denons to see if they work on scratch live
As midi controller I Don’t want to do the switch an have a lot of problems an loose money something these companies really Don’t care about thanks
Yes, I'll check it, but I doubt it because SSL hasn't been supported in a long time.
djTLMtv thank you an yea I know I just really Haven’t switch do to too may events Don’t want to risk having issues while on an event
You mean issues with Serato DJ? To me, it's been very stable. No crazy issues here. You could also have both
it's funny, I have the original cdi 2000s and I do the exact same thing. But I had so many problems using a powered USB hub. Had to go non powered.
How do you judge your own mixes ???...... especially your early years
Early on the focus should mainly be on the technical basics. Are you beatmatching correctly? Did you start the transition on a good point? Were your volume levels ok? Stuff like that. After that you can focus on other things like key, energy, etc
The moment they release Traktor integration I’m buying a pair
yes its stupidtheyhaventdoneit already concidering these r more geared for the edm market
Si alguien sabe español que me diga como se llama esa targeta usb por favor, por que no puedo configurar mis reproductores denon sc5000 prime con serato
You can daisy chain the players saving you USB slots.
How do you trigger samples in this mode as only has HOTCUE,ROLL,SLICER & LOOP pads?
@@hmfddawg holy fuck I've been looking for this answer everywhere and haven't found a believable response. So the serato sampler is in the second layer of the loop pad mode when in controller mode?
What power hub is that fam?
But I just found out you can use the SC5000 as a powered hub. Connect one player to the other and connect that one to the laptop 👍🏽
Why is it that every review that you get these days doesn't explain what everybody really wants to hear and see? The biggest issue is how to connect the cables correctly and you never get the view of the cables - only someone talking it up "Oh I just connect really easily and here it is". So can anyone explain exactly which USB is connected into which equipment? I've tried all combinations and still have no results (note - I am not using Serato but rather Engine).
These directions are very confusing. how about a diagram as to how your are connecting all of the usb cables? been playing around with this for 24 hours. no success.
Thank you TLM, I've been waiting for someone to explain how this works with Serato.
No problem 👍🏽
