Love these comparison videos. So many variables in brewing. Since you say you are having issue hitting OG, that would make a good subject video. I struggle with that myself. Grain crush size, amount of water use, sparge or not…
I see your point with a wet mash. I had a lot of stuck mashes in the Gen4 when using the water calculations from brewfather which is always around 3,5 gal for a 11 lb grain bill. Maybe i should go your route and go up to 4,4 gal mash water for a 5 gal batch. Btw great content as always.
Great video as always! I've placed a couple orders with you guys so far and loving the new pastime! AKA addiction hahaha 😅. So far, I've brewed more with the US-05 and I've found that it gives a boozy taste to everything. I'll have to experiment with different yeasts to see what it does! I'm trying to find a recipe that I like and then I'll start messing around with different things. But until then Sippy poos!
Maybe I missed it. What were the fermentation temperatures? I pick up peach undertones on the US-05 at various temps. Considering a new yeast for my pale ales.
It was fermented at around 18-20C. If you're looking for a new versatile ale yeast I highly recommend trying House Ale by Escarpment Labs if you can get it. Cheers
An interesting comparison video would be the effect on flavour from using different types of acids to lower mash ph on a pale beer. Lactic, citric, phosphoric, sulphuric, hydrochloric, acidulated malt…
Great idea. It's not something I've ever done because it's so easy to just grab fresh yeast every time, being at the home brew shop. But I should do one.
It’s not Friday but I’m ready for the video anyway!!
It's 5 o'clock, I mean Friday somewhere. Cheers!
I was thinking I didn't have to go to work all of a sudden.....but you're right, it is thirsty Thursday now!!!!
Thank goodness for this weekly video. You just reminded me it's garbage day tomorrow
Glad to help, I guess lol. Cheers 🍻

I think you're onto something here. I'll put it on the list.
That looks like a fun experiment but i do 4 gallon brews i will be seeing you guys for cost and steps 3 different yeasts
Cheers!

Definitely worth trying on one of your next brews. Cheers!

Great suggestion. I've always just used the one method. I'll have to look into this.
Yeahhhh Brad!
M54 is my fav when making Cerveza styles!
Ima have to try that out.
How about a split batch with the same yeast but different fermantation temps
I've been meaning to do that. Just gotta setup 2 ferm controls.
How about a yeast recycle or starter overbuild test using one strain across several beer types.

+1 for Marris Otter vs 2 Row
Cheers!
I would live to see a comparison of an Irish stout served on CO2 and Nitro.
That's a really good idea and something that I hadn't thought of. It's on the potential future video list. Cheers!
That sounds REAL good Brad-e-poo.
Thanks buuuuudddddy.
