For those of us that love hip hop in such an immeasurable way, it's painful when the artists you want to hear the most, are silent, like Cons. Man, I wish he was active and just out there for his music to enjoy. This guy is amazing and I say that with the experience of a life lived from the very start of Hip Hop back in the late 70's until today. Hip Hop is about love, joy, pain, the stuggle, the past and the future, and, many other things. This is such an amazing song. His work with ATCQ is also amazing, everything he does is amazing. Where you at Cons?
This brings me back to 10 years ago. I have a vivid memory of driving to my girl's house high as shit in a snowstorm. Something about that moment always stuck with me. This was the song that was playing.
When you reach your dreams, always remember the circumstances and obstacles you had to cross to get there. Always remember the people that were there along the way and never gave up on you. Don’t forget em.💯🤝
Adam Stier What I'm saying is: I think if Kanye West had been the one to spit these lyrics with the charisma, delivery & hunger that he had on "College Drop Out" this song would've been a hit. I hope that makes sense.
I know what you're saying but look at Big Sean. I just don't think Con has the charisma & cockiness it takes to deliver a big song. Diddy could deliver certain songs better than real rappers/lyricists I think there's a reason for that.
Here's my take on Consequence. He's hella underrated and probably has the saddest story in all of 2000's hip hop. Mans was the cousin of Q-Tip (claim nepotism all you want, but we wouldn't have gotten Quence or most other musicians if not for partiality) AND got signed onto GOOD Music, which is like a dream come true. 2007 rolls along, and he releases this under-hyped, under-performing debut. Don't get me wrong, DQYDJ is the best GOOD Music album of 2000's in my opinion. But this screwed up his commercial ratings, and I don't think Quence expected that . If you listen to the skits on this album, the way he performs them is like he's famous already. He was a bit too cocky. Now he beefs with Kanye, leaves for some ghetto ass label, releases a trash second album with the only good songs being the ft. Q-Tip and Large Pro. He stops releasing for a while, gets flamed by Joe Budden, brings his kid on a Breakfast Club interview (no one liked that), and finally reconciles with Kanye and Pusha T. He drops a remix of this very song, collabs with Ty Dolla $ign, Royce Da 5'9, , Phife Dawg of his cousin's famed ATCQ (R.I.P Phife) and Conway the Machine just this year. So he's ok now (apparently his wife is well off and their kid is going to a public school, so good for them). But if Quence wouldn't have beefed and had lower expectations, we wouldn't even be in this scenario. Now he's an underrated, underpaid, and unknown rapper only famous online in underground rap circles and Joe Budden roast groups. Imagine Consequence being a top ten rapper...
I agreeed with everything you said except the best album from good music in the 2000s is a huge stretch… once again & BE are some of the best albums ever made and top this one easy. Still a top ten hip hop album in my personal opinion but it isn’t even the best from 2000s
Man I promise, when I get old enough I'm a buy you a limo, and we gon' go to Red Lobster And you can get all the... all the lobster tail that you want Cause I'm a be RICH! Yeah I'm a be rich, uhh... I can actually picture Kanye delivering this on College Dropout & making it a hit.
Adam Stier What I'm saying is: I think if Kanye West had been the one to spit these lyrics with the charisma, delivery & hunger that he had on "College Drop Out" this song would've been a hit. I hope that makes sense.
Adam Stier I don't care what HE wants, this is my opinion.
I know what you're saying but look at Big Sean. I just don't think Con has the charisma & cockiness it takes to deliver a big song. Diddy could deliver certain songs better than real rappers/lyricists I think there's a reason for that.
