    I'm criticizing the people in this video who apparently don't even know how the washer is engineered and claim it's at fault for not spinning immediately. It's designed to drain first. It's a Kenmore, not an old school Maytag.

    My Kenmore 80 Series washer is doing the same thing. It won't spin unless open close the lid or sometimes I have to move the time forward or all the way around to get it to spin. I checked the motor coupler, its fine. I replaced the clutch. I bypassed the lid switch so it will spin with the door open. HELP anyone?

    OMG That washer is old i think you would have figured it out by now that it is a neutral drain. but that banging noise needs to be looked at.

    The dogs in the agitator may be stripped. They are designed to do this as a safety measure.

    @ToledoApplianceGuys It's a neutral drain!

    Just find the most expensive thing that is unrelated to this problem, replace it and see that it was not the problem after you can't return it. A 12 GA. shotgun loaded with buck works too. It will at least show you what was broken.

    I agree with a few folks on here... It'd be nice if you, oh, I don't know, let's see.... TELL US WHAT YOU DID MAYBE....????

    That's because it's not the timer, it's a transmission thing.

    Actually it does matter. The immediate combination spin/drain type of washers extract more water from the garments. The only reason Kenmores/Whirlpools are designed with neutral drain is to save wear and tear on the motor (a tub full of water and clothes is very heavy). I just don't like it when people cry foul, without even knowing the proper way a machine is supposed to work, like the knuckleheads in this video. They remind me of all those dolts that refuse to read instructions.

    There is nothing wrong with your washer, the machine is designed to drain the water first then stop and start again for it to spin. But from this video, it looks like the only thing wrong is your agitator dogs are worn out.

    The washer is actually not supposto spin while draining. It's the way they designed. I you make it spin while draining over time it will cause your clutch to fail.

      Older washers do.

      Old frigidaire and GE washers Had a spin drain. Any whirlpool or Kenmore has a neutral drain.

    Not drainspins

  • @TheLucasMollet
    @TheLucasMollet 13 років тому +1

    It is supposed to do that and if you stop it, the tranmission will make it spin. Perfectly normal, and the reason it stops is to go from the neutral drain (where it is NOT supposed to spin) into the spin. Nothing wrong with it.

    This is a Direct Drive Whirlpool. It is supposed to neutral drain before spin. if you keep shifting it into spin early by stopping and restarting it you will break the clutch and damage the neutral pak.

  • @davidtaten7189

    amigo eso puede quemar el motor ella primero hace un neutral drain y luego hace el spin

  • @BroccoliBeefed

    Actually it does matter. Kenmore/Whirlpools were engineered this way because it's easier on the transmission. A washer tub full of water and wet clothes is extremely heavy. However a machine (e.g. vintage Maytags) that employed spin drain would extract more water from the clothes, because the clothes would distribute more evenly around the entire tub.

    @JNBAPPLIANCE I had the same exact problem. Spent $120 to get a brand new timer. Changed it but the problem continued.
    Try this, try that are just not a practical solution. In the end, you may spend more than you actually buy one.
    I have couple of other possibilities. If non work, I'll throw it out and get brand new with warranty. I just have enough headache from these stupid machines..
