    While the description says "tool only" it does come with one each of a bi-metal ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx0vyBwjtx9GGOuiqUVT2sRoYqmDoNT_RI and HCS blade plus an adaptor plate for non-DeWalt blades. Wish I had known that before I bought the blade kit, but oh well. Since I already have a DeWalt drill, charger and batteries there was no need to buy more of those so this was a great deal.There is one other consideration. DeWalt does't sell the depth guide separately so you need to buy the three parts which make it up -- the N275350 block assy, the N275341 metal rod and the N278801 knob. Amazon does sell all three.

    I bought one as a Leatherman Signal type tool. I wanted something as an emergency tool that didn't cost as much as a Signal but was still reasonable quality. It's obviously not as good as my Leatherman but for the price it seems to be great value. It's sturdy, the tools seems solid and it's something I can stick in my emergency bag that should work when I need it. For the price of a Signal I could buy almost 5 of these Bibury tools where I live.
    The Leatherman is smoother, nicer construction, has a long warranty and all parts can be replaced. The Bibury on the other hand doesn't have this but is fairly inexpensive and I won't be heartbroken if it gets lost and I won't think I wasted my money if it just sits in a bag in case I need it.
    One thing that I noticed is that while there's a ferro rod and replaceable wire cutters I can't find them available for sale separately. Perhaps they will become available in the future. The hex bit slot, as you mentioned, has no retention of any kind which is annoying. The Signal hack of putting a bit of thin thread in the hole should fix that issue; or perhaps a bit of blue tack. Oh and the whistle is pathetic, I'll pack a proper emergency whistle.

    I like Bibury and really like the prior version of this tool. but they really threw the baby out with the bathwater here... the nicest thing about this previous version was the bit driver. Even the Gerber drivers, which rock, could not lock into two distinct leverage points (positions)... Bibury has to take the plunge and believe in themselves enough to start seeing the success of their own developments. With that bit driver you had reach and a tool you could use as a full service Multi...
    I don't even mind the price point but they need to recognize their strengths and not just put more stuff on the biggest tool they offer... the diamond file is a nice touch.

    What I like is Surge implements and Signal capabilities in a Wave package. The bit driver isn't there yet like you said. Does Bibury specific the steel used to manufacture this multitool. I really like the 420HC in a multitool. Also, the curiosity killed the cat, I just purchased a used Leatherman OHT. I'm not a fan of sliding pliers but this tool has me wondering... Any thoughts, advice or input you have about the OHT good and bad?

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  Рік тому +1

      The steel on this is I think 7crv for the blade and 3crv for the frame.
      The OHT is a great tool it's just heavy and it seems to have a smaller toolset than other tools like your 300 super tool. Outside opening tools are cool but it seems like it needed a blade exchanger a bit exchanger something to make it stand out more. I think the positive is it seems to have the toughest frame of any Leatherman out there. It looks like a tank could run over it!

      @@hvacbudget8600 What deceives me about the tool, I just happen to get black, I like the tan too. It looks like a rubber handled grip, that would be nice for comfort, I know it would probably weather and dry rot within a couple years and people would send them back to Leatherman and the warranty would be disputed. I'd be interested if it had a rubber grip and wouldn't try and return it. I didn't know until recently its treated metal.

      @@richardsullivan1776 It is metal. It's not a bad tool. It's neat that it has a cleaning rod attachment and an oxygen wrench. I think it's a great outside tool for pouch carry. Each tool is outside opening and even the handles picture what tools are inside. Pretty good atv tool. Maybe excellent for heavy equipment operators etc. It definitely looks built for harsh environments.

    i i also had the L oht. i dreamed about L signal but when i saw this bibury. i love it! granted im just a regular office guy weekend warrior whose multitools don't get really any action in years. so this bibury is perect already for me!
    i do notice its sorely lacking to hold bits in a vertical way. ( not impresed with the horizontal)

    It would have been smarter for them to keep the bit driver as it was and have a 1/4" hammer bit.. or make a way for the driver to lock at 90 degrees, be pinched by the two handles for extra stability, and design the side flat and hammer like. Honestly, with a Philips bit in, I can lock it at 90 using the groves in the base of the tools, so if the side of the driver was bigger and flat.. hammer.. Or even make the bottom of the pliers the hammer surface like the GOAT tool.. because let's be real.. you aren't framing a house with this.. hang a picture, this that.. it's designed for light work.. does give me a mod idea for my Multiforce though.

    The big problem with this kind of copying of Leatherman models (Wave+, Surge) is the fact that it is impossible to find replacement wire cutters; stupid. This is Annoying in the U.K.
    We don’t have as big of a selection as you guys.
    What do you think is the best cheap multitool with one handed opening features?
    And a deep carry clip like leatherman, or do you think you could get replaced clips?
    I’m sure I’ve seen some that even come with bit drivers all for 30-40 so fairly cheap and some were copies of the Wave.
    With Pouches.
    But they aren’t for sale any more!
    So trying to do more research into the subject again.

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  Рік тому +1

      So in the US:
      the Ozark trail Multi force sold at Walmart for $40.
      The Flissa multi tool sold on Amazon for $29
      These Bibury tools sold for $35 to $45 on Amazon.
      Aliexpress sells several versions of these tools that look pretty close.
      Diacamping/Swiss Tech has a version. Mossy Oak/ Bibury even Xiaomi may have a clone copy of the Wave on Aliexpress. That probably might be the best place to get one overseas. Now these are locking blades so obvious the stricter knife laws over there may cause some issues. Swapping out a bit driver for the Phillips on the non locking Leatherman Bond might be a legal carry option.

    • @kylethedalek
      @kylethedalek Рік тому

      @@hvacbudget8600 Tjanks for the detailed response!
      On the locking part a lot of people over here use washers on the blade pivot screw to hold the lock bar in the unlocked position, so it becomes an slip joint.
      (I have no idea what size of washer to buy for that though lol.)
      Found some of the Bibury, Black fox, nex tool and Roxon.
      But as you said they all seem to be rebranded stuff, I would like a deep carry option and maybe even one that’s black.
      But for the price of some of them I can’t complain!
      The Bibury ones I found there is one on Amazon U.K. like your’s in the video, but that is £45.
      And one without the fire steel and glass breaker is only £20.
      But just noticed the wire cutters aren’t replaceable, can you buy replacement ones for the Bibury brand?
      And have all your cheap MT held up to a lot of usage?
      I feel if I’m going to spend £45 on one I be as well spending £60-80 and getting a Leatherman, like the Bond, Curl, Wingman and side kick.
      I don’t think they have the replaceable wire cutters though.

    • @hvacbudget8600
      @hvacbudget8600  Рік тому

      @@kylethedalek The best option for what you seem to want is the "Diacamping DL1 extra cutter multifunctional edc". This has the pocket clip, bit driver, and replaceable cutters. $36 US on Aliexpress.
      As far as replaceable cutters in the US Amazon has the Maerd P6 P11 accessories set for about $16 which comes with extra cutters that might fit. I haven't tried Leatherman cutters but they might fit as well.
      As far as durability I personally haven't had any major issues. Even Leathermans break so I'm sure these do as well. These clones seem pretty close in build quality and robustness but I've never specifically carried the Diacamping brand but I would imagine it could be made at the same factory the rest of these are made at.

    In my experience Bibury has great designs, Leatherman could take some lessons actually...but their quality control looks made by monkeys: the main blades don't lock very well, dancing when you're using it, opening when you're not; the file quality is under other chinese brands like swiss+tech etc.

  • @donhames5492
    @donhames5492 Рік тому +2

    Bottom line up front: This is a very poorly designed multi-tool with design flaws that limit the effectiveness of some of the main tools (pliers and screwdriver bits) with poor quality control and this multi-tool is very sub-par compared to earlier Bibury multi-tools. I will not use this in the customer survival kits I build and sell due to the deficiencies noted below. Don't get me wrong, I like Bibury and have all their other multi-tools (since I sell custom custom survival kits online, so I buy lots of survival tools to evaluate them.), but this one is not up to the quality of their previous tools. It may just be the one I received, but even if mine is an aberration, then it means their QC has gone down hill and the design is poor at best.. The good: the tool feels heavy and well built, it's nice to have a striker rod built in, the replaceable wire cutters are a big plus (no additional blades are included though), the pliers seem great and the main tools (knife, saw, file, scissors) are on the outside and accessible without having to open the tool. The bad: the design is poor in several ways (the bit holder only allows for use where there is room enough to get the entire tool in and move it around, there are no Philips tipped screwdrivers (or 1/4" bits of any sort included), the bit holder/glass beaker head and hammer seems to be made of hard plastic, so the hammer is of very limited use, when using the pliers the glass breaker stick into the fleshy part of my hand and so I cannot get a really firm grip on the plier handles which makes using the pliers much more difficult and painful, and limits the usefulness and effectiveness of the pliers. When unfolding the plier arms/ handles for use, the right handle (with the front of the tool facing you) is very difficult to unfold and it appears to have been tightened too much at the factory. The other handle/arm works fine. This indicates poor quality control and poor quality control checking by Bibury. This tool just has too many negatives plus it is a lot more expensive that other Bibury multi-tools that are much more effective tools.
