I am going to dive into designing my own fair isle hats and this video was full of useful information. Thank you! I have made some of my own simple patterns with just one pattern around the hat. Have you seen the Tin Can Knits Strange Brew recipes? They had a small portion for free that I downloaded. There are some motifs and they have stitch counts to start with for any size, any yarn weight, suggested needles, and things like cowls, hats, etc. It's for making your own sweater designs and practicing with a smaller project to swatch and get gauge and see how the patterns and colors work together.
@@andreasanford8814 Terri has a class handout that she walks you through that shows 4 methods for charting a crown, it was very helpful! I Thank you for the recommendation on recipes, I will look them up!
@@andreasanford8814 If you sign up for her emails she will let you know when her next class sign up begins, my impression is that they will be continuing with online classes which is so great when traveling is not possible. She also offers private lessons online.
Loved your video, thank you 💚 What is the name of Marie Wallin's pattern? One reason that many Shetland patterns have a 24 stitch repeat (or a number which divides into 24) may be that many manual knitting machines are set up to work with that number. Swatching on a knitting machine speeds up the process considerably 👍
Interesting! So sorry for the delay, I hadn't realized there was a message here waiting for me. The sweater pattern is called "Windermere." Thank you for sharing that information!
Really nice video
Thank you very much , it was a beautiful and very helpful explanation, I Wish you all the best 👋

I will look for your design a crown video. I would love to attend that one from Shetland wool week. I also have a chronic pain condition.
