I'v just ordered one of these to inspect the underside of my home, I live in a park home which sits about 50cm above a concrete base . Crawling around checking for rot/leaks is hard work so I'm fitting it with an FPV system and an old smart phone to video the underside plus at nearly 69 I'm still a kid !
Thank you! I Watched your video, paid attention, took your advice and ordered the MN99 (in dark silver). You’re right - they are toy grade, but bodies are nice, and you can always customize the body and mount it on a hobby quality chassis, when the time and funds permit. ✌️ Btw, as you showed, the MN99 has upgrades that make it livable for the time being! Good and inexpensive!! Needed that especially these days. Cheers!
Had mine for about 2 months now. These things are insanely fun to use. Iv'e ordered all the metal parts for the upgrade..Axles and complete inner workings...etc. I absolutely love this little thing... The body shell is brilliant...My only question is ...Imagine if they did this in a 1/10 Scale???
@@TomleyRC I guess the Biggest reason they Won't is due to Licencing?...and Tamiya might get a bit upset?...I don't know...! But IF they did a 1:10 Scale....The lid is off surely on how good this stuff could be.!
I like the 1/12 scale. It is a nice all-around size. It is nice to have a 1/10 for bushwalks but for around my all-natural rock crawler cause around my back yard, the 1/12 scale is great.
I think WPL need to up there game , MN were always onto a winner with a Land Rover body shell , the C34 doesnt have the same impact as a bruising Landy 😁
That depends on which country you're in. For us we love the fj40 so I got the c34km. The fj40 body too by wpl is much more detailed along with opening doors and added windows so I don't think wpl has been lacking in effort.
What an awesome truck for this price! I´m sure it will beat my FY003 at offroading and crawling straight out of the box and it´s a decent Defender model as well.

Nice bit of retro Gulf racing colours going on there dude! I was impressed by the little budget truck - as you said, sort out the top heaviness and good to go! Thinking of upgrading the axle housings and drive shafts to metal. Which ones do you recommend. Do WPL metal drive shafts fit the MN99 and are the plastic ones on it easy to remove?
Hey Tomley, just a question I'm most likely gonna order the mn99 so can you give me a few little tips for the mn99 because it would really help. Also what are the full specs on the truck?
Just ordered one of these. Great price for what it is. Now to find a reliable source of oil filled shocks that ship to Canada without costing more than a whole WPL!
It's honestly hard for me to see how they can sell this truck, rtr, for a blonde hair over $50. Even if it were just a kit and you had to assemble it completely yourself (with included electronics) it would still be a smoking deal. It just baffles me. 10+ years ago when I first got into the hobby $100 couldn't even get me a LOSI mini-t (tax at the LHS took it over my $100 birthday $ gift) I know it's not really a fair comparison, losi is name brand and the mini-t is aimed at a completely different consumer base then the mn-99. But nowadays, for $100 you could get a brushless 4x4 1/16th scale with included lipo! (Xinlehong q901) Big difference compared to a 2wd 1/18 that comes with a 4xAA battery..
its screaming for the budget mods... the fayee 6 spoke rims+tires are a little shorter and wider, allows more suspension travel before hitting wheel wells. the B-36 tan gearbox isn't fast but torque is really good from a 180 motor. 2 full wraps 2 mm solder (16 turns) to the front rims and it'll claw its way uphill a whole lot better. when my plastic axle gears fail, it'll be time for the metal, and shafts to go with it, but for now it's doing really well. low wheel speed and oil filled shocks do help to keep the wheels from hammering, is what really breaks the plastic axle gears quickly.
Fantastic review and unboxing Phil, really good looking Body and good Price, Funny that with the Birds cherping Traxxas/Arrma 🤣🤣🤣 fantastic video mate as Always 👍😎👍

You could get a 2 speed WPL box or single speed in there no problem, that'll sort the gearing out. I see quite a few unboxings/reviews that spend forever just taking it out the box!....fancy camera angles and music!
