- The NBC10 Investigators were invited inside the academy walls to get a firsthand look at what it takes to become a Massachusetts state trooper and the extremely demanding training involved after we began asking questions about the high attrition rate of this class.
Likely embarrassed about the current state of the MA State Police. So much corruption.
Thousands of State Troopers, dozens of corruption cases…current thinking says they all must be bad.

Most of this training is useless for what state troopers actually do. They train them like combat soldiers when what is needed is firearm, physical fitness, constitutional law and polite public relations.

Perhaps not the newest generation but historically most of the MSP were prior service.
People are realizing its not worth it for a democrat run state where they are unsupported and un appreciated. Smart move get a decent job that pays more without the stress
Hahaha, of course they are dropping out! This kind of training produces certain results, for sure. But does it make for effective policing? Debatable. COs make the best cops, in any event. We're way better communicators, hah!
However, either way you slice it, right now, not many people want to be LEOs, and I don't see that changing any time soon. That sucks for us that have to work a shit-ton of extra shifts to cover! Lol. Stay safe, MSP!

Why would anyone want to put a target on their back? Cameras have changed the public perception of police. The 1st amendment has become a debacle for law enforcement.
Or they can just move to Florida and become a cop where they can abuse the public.
I know 4 Mass State Police, 3 of of them are soldier veterans as well. They told me Mass State Police academy was 10x worse then boot camp, extremely excessive.
They must have been In the Chair force or a squid. These guys coming out of the state. Police are fat and overweight, not a shape. Are you kidding me
Police training is completely wrong
Every department I know of is hiring. It’s tough to find people who want to do this and do it well. I have a lot of respect for professionals that made it their career choice.

Maybe because the academy shouldn’t be like basic training lol they literally just write tickets on the highways all day
I just want to become a cop. Just sucks having 2 bad hips. Im 36 and don't see it happening. My dream is slipping away. If the academy was only running 1 time I could push myself through it, but running everyday my hips wouldn't be able to handle it. But a one time run having to complete it in a certain time I bet I could get through it. I really should just look into it. Im sure my dream would be shot down in a heart beat tho

Yeah academy is a good 6 months of daily running.. Probably wouldn’t be a good idea
@@xxxnyb yea it just sucks it's even a requirement. You know how many officers I see that are extremely out of shape!? Like they'd die if they had to run. I mean come on! What's the point of making you run constantly and making everyone run a certain distance in a certain amount of time to pass the academy if they aren't going to require you to keep yourself in at least running shape. I might have bad hips but I still am able to do plenty of things! I guarantee I could do a lot of these guys jobs better than they can with having these bad hips! Just team me with someone who can run 😆

They yelled at me ,I went home and cried. This current generation is pathetic! New hires at my company can’t and won’t try to do anything. Oh except stare at their phones 6 hrs a day.
How the heck is a trainer ie drill instructor have only 2 years experience ? If that’s the best you can come up with as a instructor then that’s one of the problems.
