unfortunately, tokyo disneyland & disneysea's new years tickets are only available to hotel guests or to win a lottery..
I´m crying. I was at that countdown in Shibuya, it was freaking crowded!! So many beautiful memories from that travel to Japan

No need Western-style New Year's Coutdown. If we become a crowd, manners are also disturbed. We should return to the traditional style where we Japanese originally greeted the New Year quietly.
Keep in mind New Years is more of a religious holiday in Japan. Many people go to temples and shrines at midnight. Rowdiness and fireworks is not their traditional New Years. So yes it is tame by western standards.
