Thanks Debbie! I’m glad you like this technique. It is one that I rarely find the need for but it is great to have another tool in case you have difficult DSP like this one.
Thanks Nola. It is something that I rarely use but a cool new feature in the SDX machines that wasn't there in the CM series. We like being "in the know" in case we ever need it.
You can also lay a sheet of acetate over the paper & black Sharpie the outline around the area you want cut. Scan it, then remove the acetate sheet before you set it up to cut. You can outline as much as you want to cut, and just keep replacing your pictured sheets beneath the acetate or just do one piece. When done you can save that marked up acetate to reuse or just alcohol wipe to reuse the cleaned acetate for another project.
Becca, I was just using Shrinky Dink material and was thinking of the acetate trick during that time. It is a great suggestion because you could use if for each flower with the same shape. I didn't realize I could reuse the acetate by cleaning it with alcohol. I use it lot for masking but in the sense that it is just so I can color through the shape and then I wash off the extra ink. Thanks!
I really appreciate you incorporating the Scan n Cut with Stampin Up products. I feel there is so much the Scan n Cut can do, but I dont know the half of it!
Oh you are very welcome. Using Stampin' Up! paper with this machine gives us the best of both worlds. You will use the machine even more as you unlock the possibilities of what it can do. Keep on watching.
Kim, I think this is one of your best videos EVER! It is loaded with so much information and so much inspiration. I'm with you on that Everything is Rosy Product Medley. It is truly a beautiful group of products. I can't believe it is still available either. The negative outline trick is cool, too! Thanks for all that you do and share so freely! One of the reasons I support you on Patreon.
Thanks so much Patricia. A few of my Crafty Friends also suggested acetate so you have another tip and trick to look forward to. I love ❤️ medley and a few minutes before the stoke of midnight in Salt Lake City last night, I was able to get my last Sale-A-Bration order in and earn some freebies. I thank you for supporting my channel!
Thank you - this is a very helpful tutorial. Those pretty papers have so many open areas that would cut out and not keep the flower in tact. thank you for showing these tips!
Thank you Kim , while I was waiting for you , I cut with scissors , what a job ... lol . But thank you so much for sharing ... your the best ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️, but I’m still going to try your way ♥️
Well because you have experienced doing this the hard way, you will love how much work the machine will do for you. The ScanNCut isn't that fast considering you have to draw around each flower but it is a smooth cut and you can make layers so it is all good. Thanks for watching Frenchie.
Well thank you so much Cindy. I didn't notice it until I got my SDX125 which was my 3rd machine. I stand corrected and I will complete another tutorial in the future where I mention this feature is available in other models.
Is there a smoothing option on the cm350 and if so where do I find it please....love your videos. Recommend you all the time...especially to newbies....
Cindy, not that I’m. aware of and I rarely ever need to mess with the smoothing option on my SDX125. Still, I would like to cover that feature. What type of project did you have in mind for smoothing?
Jennifer, it all depends on how often you use your machine. I just have an extra on hand but hardly ever need to change them. I just sharpen then with foil. Here is a video about taking care of your blade and blade holder.
Thank you for the great information to cut the layers easily . Than’ you for giving your time to do helpful videos . X
Angela, I’m glad I could help. There are even more tips and tricks coming related to this topic so stay tuned.
Kim....another great tutorial. I'm so glad you showed us how to do the negative space . TFS and you and your family stay safe and healthy.
Thanks Debbie! I’m glad you like this technique. It is one that I rarely find the need for but it is great to have another tool in case you have difficult DSP like this one.
The negative distance was a new one for me. That was a great tip.

How often do you have to replace your blade?
