Hey thanks a lot for the tut! I have a trouble here, i'm trying to export the first text animation to a game engine without success I'm using the Shell Dynamics, but that dosnt creates an instancer, i tried a couple workarounds but didnt work. Any idea if its possible? thanks!
So to do this you'll need to get the type. 1. Separate it. 2. Centre pivots on each letter. 3. Bake pivots on each letter. 4. Add them to a MASH network. 5. Use Initial State on the Distribute node. 6. Add an ID node. 7. Add dynamics. Shell dynamics are deformer based, and I don't think that's what you're after here :)
Sir you're my hero! It worked perfectly, thank you so much. I tried to use the Shell dynamic to keep all shells in 1 object and reduce draw calls on mobile, probably not possible but this will do the job!

Great work, Ian. Can you do a tutorial on how to use mash for destruction in maya? I see the possibility with this new dynamic node.
I'd love to see this too, but I think destruction falls outside of our motion graphics remit and more into the VFX side of things....

Hey James, it's a brand new feature in Maya 2018. In 2016 you can use MASH with nParticles for spherical collisions, but that's all I'm afraid.
