      늦게 댓글을 봤어요 !! ㅠㅠ 이제야 답글 다네요 ! 혹시 해결이 되었나요??
      대략적인 내용은 이래요 ! 우리가 쓰는 buffer 나 inverter 등의 소자있잖아요? 그 소자 속에는 사실 어떤 트랜지스터가 있는데요, 그게 내부에 있기 때문에 입력과 출력값이 우리가 배운대로 나오는거래여. 근데 오픈 컬렉터는 그 트랜지스터가 내부에 없기 때문에, 입력을 줘도 소자가 작동을 안하는데 그래서 외부에서 트랜지스터 역할을 하는 저항과 5v처럼 전류를 걸어줘야 작동 한다는 이야기에요

    I came here because I wanted to understand the I2P protocol connections better, but listening to this I realized a mistake I did trying to understand the UART connection. Since its idle state is a high, so as to not input garbage data and avoid a floating state, we should connect it to the supply through a pull-up.
    Thank you for the nice video!

    This is a great video!
    I would like to use an Arduino's open collector output with a pullup resistor, coupled with a capacitive sensor. I am using a capSense library that takes two pins. On the first one sends out pulses and on the other reads it back. The rx pin is also connected to a metal plate and works as a touch sensor. I would like to have the following result:
    - switch open: 5v on the input pin;
    - switch closed:
    1)same pulse of the output pin (the input would match the output); or
    2)0v on the input pin;
    I cannot figure out how to make it. Your help would be very appreciated.

    In the regular NOT gate, shouldn't there be another transistor in your representation since the 04 has a totem pole?

    At 0:55 This “becomes 5 volts for some reason.” That reason is the transistor on the top is a p-type, and the transistor on the bottom is an n-type. When the input voltage is applied to the gate of the to p type transistor, it is repelling the 5 volts and not allowing current to go through. But the transistor on the bottom is an n type, so when current is applied to it’s current can pass through but in the other direction, effectively acting as a drain for the current that cant through the p type up top. So apply8ng a current means no current passw through the output of the overall gate. It just repels at the top then drains out the bottom.nBut if NO current is applied to the input then s a difference in potential from the 5volt entering the top, and zero volts at the p type transistor’s gate, thus the current entering the source of the tp resistor passes through the output. And the difference potential of zero input and zero volt grpund at the bottom is zero. Thus no voltage at the input causes the current to pass from the top transistor to the output. while a voltage stops the path to output and directs it through th bottom n transistor insteaf

    Can one see a practical demonstration of how an Open Collector Output is connected to a Pull Up Resistor ?

    مش فاهم نقطه الاخيره ازاي دايما هيعدي من المقاومه 1 ولما ادخل 1 هيطلع 0 ..دلوقتي في نفس الوقت عندي 1 و 0

      Doaa Abdo لشرح هذه النقطة لا بد من دراسة قانون أوم (ohm's law)
      ولكن سأشرح باختصار:
      إذا كان الداخل 0، فإنه لا يوجد خارج، لا 1 ولا حتى 0، وبالتالي لا يمر تيار في المقاومة، وبالتالي لا ينشأ فرق جهد على المقاومة، وبالتالي فَطَرفَيّ المقاومة سيحملنان نفس الجهد وهو الخمسة ڤولت.
      أما إن كان الداخل 1، فإن الخارج 0 وبالتالي يمر تيار وينشأ فرق جهد على المقاومة، وبالتالي طرف المقاومة الأسفل سيكون جهده 0 ڤولت والأعلى سيكون ٥ ڤولت
