The upload and video.
I cannot describe the emotional impact this scene had on me. this was just... Everything so many fans wanted and so much more.
Iroha's dialog.... honestly made me cry...
I don't have much to say. but FFXI was worth the 14 years. And an amazing 14 year wait for this it was.... -- Watch live at / ffxishadowlina
To me, this is amongst one of the most beautful things I've seen in MMO history. A game going out on its own terms, with an emotional ending. On behalf of the FFXIV community, we in Eorzea salute you, people of Vana'diel!
;o; This hurts my chest. I joined ffxi when I was in freshman year. No friends. Severe clinical depression. Insomnia. It was horrible. Through ffxi I made life long friends, met my girlfriend through, and now have some of the best friends possible; whom I've met in person now and we have hung out to make even better memories. It all started here. In Vana'diel. God the nostalgia, and saying goodbye..just hits me in the soul ; ; Thank you Lina for uploading this~
FFXI was impactful on my own life as well... vanadiel is a special place.
Don't worry, we'll take care of Iroha here in Eorzea. You all will be missed.
Vasana, FFXI Remora
The reuse of the original Vana'diel march into the ending song is a very fitting, emotional, and heart wrenching end to a series of really great storylines in an MMO.
I totally agree. the first song we ever heard it was such a beautiful song
and the reharmonizatioms were great
Oh man, I cried at the end song, and then cried again when I realized my voice actually made it into the chorus. There's a video on the official FinalFantasyXI channel that has this song with the names of the people in the chorus. Goodbye FFXI ;___;
So it's over, Final fantasy XI has ended.
Despite never playing, I have such a weird feeling in my chest, as if something isn't right with the universe anymore.
It will live on. The journey continues.
and so the story closes on one of the best MMOS of all times :(
nope its still going 😀
There only being a few great one is exactly what makes it an honorable distinction. Rising about all those the were just crap and caused the genre to start getting ignored as soon as it started, and becoming something special.
Nope, the story is done, SE said so themselves. As for the game, That's still going, and still awesome,
@@MAJICB0B They have since changed their mind and now we're in the middle of The Voracious Resurgence.
@@jimabel4819 yeah which is neat. As of my original comment, their plans with XI was done and over, but I'm happy they changed their minds
I played this game since Rise of the Zilart came out and stopped just after Abbysea (because of work/life reason).
This game will always be in my memories and it got a fitting ending to the story. Gotta admit I teared up when I saw Lion and Prishe and everyone else in the CS as they talked to you, thanking you for all that you did in the past 14 years.
Vana'diel I'll never forget you, rest well.
Vana'diel will always hold a precious place in my heart. To some it may just be a video game, but it held the most soulful 14 years of my life, and I will continue to appreciate the friends and companions I meet in my real life through these methods, into Final Fantasy XIV as I have been the past five years.
Nothing will ever make me forget Vana'diel. ;_;
when she drops to her knees..that moment i wont forget , so sad..
So this is what the final cutscene is for the game. Now I'm crying a little after seeing it. It was a great ride FF11 ever since I first played it in 2006.
I haven't played in a few years, but this ending brought me to tears. Holy crap did a miracle happen: I mean, Lion and Lilisette were there! And then the whole 14 years thing.
I can only offer a symbolic gesture, since those I played with are long gone, but thank you all for playing together with me back when FFXI first came out. I hope all of you are doing well in your lives and will remember the times we spent together fondly! Take care, and god bless!
I started playing this game around 2003-2011. It's hard seeing it die.
That felt good to watch. Began playing XI from the very beginning when it came out in 2003 until I got hacked mid 2009... brings back good memories... Now I've moved onto XIV and it's been 4 years since I started playing it... hopefully many more happy memories to come.
Goodbye Vana'diel T.T ... u.u
Thank you for the video, Lina_
+Kyoori Unmei You are more than welcome. I may post some of the other cutscenes from this at a later date.
"We are all humbled for your last 14 years of service"
Lina_
The other cutscenes would be nice. (^_^)
+Lina_ I would love to see all the other cutscenes too. Right now this is the only chapter 3 video I see on youtube. I won't even watch this video until I see the other cutscenes first, but I'm looking around here in case I can find the others now or in the near future.
+Chris Ponsen On my twith theres me and my friend running the whole of chapter 3 start to finish. that is like a 5 hour run trough. im going to be uploading another cutscene tommorow if vegas will let ne export it. :)
+Lina_ I never really used twitch. Is is possible for me to watch that, or is that something private for only you to edit and watch, etc.?
So incredibly moving, only a player of this game will understand. The ending to game that's never ending. I got so emotional watching this, all the amazing people I met in my time in that magical world. It's me saying goodbye to my youth. Thank you se and thank you vanadiel for giving me these wonderful memories that I can honestly say I will cherish. What other game can do this to me?
Nope, played a lot and none have given me the emotions and friendships I have felt and made in this game.
duck puncher, you are so ridiculously wrong, not even worth discussing, kid.
You know what happened with Iroha at the end, right? Although she disappeared from Vana'diel until the future, she stumbled upon Eorzea (FFXIV), lost her memories. She eventually regained them which you help her do during her crossover event. But even though she tries to go back, she isn't able to. So I think she went from Vana'diel and is now stuck in FFXIV.
+Chris Ponsen I really hope she plays some kind of role in the later updates for FFXIV.... it'll be a great transition to have her continue her story somehow.
Samurai trainer :D
+everythingisfire That's what my friend speculate, and I don't see this as crazy. She seems to be stuck there, and her role is done in Vanadiel. She'd be returning to a future that doesn't exist anymore (depending on what time travel BS theory you use anyway). So that'd she be in Eorzea is fitting. Plus she apparently brought a few 'friends' from FFXI with her.
Iroha ascended, her deeds have been recognized by the light and she's become a timeless warrior that will wander the worlds and galaxies where she will play a pivotal role in helping other warriors of light. Totally see her becoming the Samurai trainer, shes probably going to run into the Doma refugees, which share similar warrior culture to the far east in XIV and that's where her involvement will skyrocket.
+pyroromancer Hmmm even tho looking at this video Iroha seems to have connections with Phoenix.. and that role is already taken in 14 ...so another world's Phoenix?
I have such feels for this MMO, they were truly the best of times, and the worst of times. The LS I belonged to Windrust Calvary on the Shiva server they were more than just other players. and casual friends some how they were just so much more. I may have forgotten a few names, but I will never forget the faces Emuri the leader, Chiyoyo the artist (still have your amazing drawing of the LS a prized possession), the Galka Black Mage, the Mithra thief, the Elven tank, and so many more.
I cried. Not the ending that everyone had hoped for in terms of quality but they did it right all these years and nothing can change those memories.
+1337aiakos Yeah, if this had been a full blown expansion pack then there would of been so much more to it. It's very obvious they blew all their money in cutscenes earlier this chapter.
It woulda been so much different if funding hadn't been cut i bet. t-t
out of all the mmos i played ffxi story will forever be the best one
SE really knows how to get us all emotional, starting from the final boss' theme music, to this CS sequence with the mentioning of 14 years, then putting the player's name in the end credit. Well done SE.
pretty sure anyone who played ffxi for any considerable length of time and stayed true to the end...cried at this ending. The ending song and remix of the first music we ever heard (Vanadiel March) is awesome. The story was immense too. This is beautiful what else can I say
FF11 was a perfect example of a good MMO. You did not HAVE to finish the story line to have fun in it, it mattered little in fact. The vast richness of the world and interaction between the players made it all worthwhile. Back in 2003, I was a newb in Windurst and was pondering what I would really reach level 75 with. Let's just say it was the dead last job I thought I would like. Thief. It took the old FF games I played so much and made me love the job I hated most in it... And it was an awesome experience. there was just too much stuff to do in this game. It took me 7-8 years to reach level 75, and had I not quit, I still had missions 6+ to do, Rise of Zilart, and part of Ahrt Urghan (Not to mention the past questline(s). I had so much more of the game to explore. (Casuals CAN play even FF11 successfully. It's just that much more long and rewarding).
Of course Abyssea drove me away never to return (Main reason: destroyed the way I loved leveling/doing stuff), but I kept in touch with friends, and tru youtube, witnessing the end here today.
Thanks a lot for the Video. Very appreciated.
Ultima Online was an exceptionnal MMO... FF11 was even better.
Nothing today ever manage to grab me as much, and I miss that.
(PS: Why do I still feel FF11 graphics to be superior to most modern games ? I should not, but I do... it's so weird).
Good night all !
-- Samuriko, THF75, Valefor server (Retired)
Francois424, I started FFXI in late 2002. I wanted to be a PLD, but of course, a PLD was an advanced job and I would have to earn it. Back in the earlier days of FFXI, earning it meant a whole lot more than it does now. Anyway, because WAR was a must have as a PLD subjob, I began leveling that and well, WAR kind of stuck to me. I decided I would stick to WAR and that was that. It took me about five years to earn level 75WAR. By that time I was with Stormriderz Linkshell on Garuda. Ah, my beloved Garuda how I miss thee. What's more than just the game and storyline and leveling? The friends I made in game and in real life. One of my fondest memories was going out a ways with a bunch of LS folks to go hunting Hakutaku for the eye cluster to make O.Hat. We KO'd plenty of times, but in the end we got what we wanted. I quit FFXI for FFXIV in 2010. I quit FFXIV a month afterward because it just wasn't FFXI. I stayed out of game until late 2013 when I broke down and reinstalled FFXI. The game had changed A L O T! I found out my home, Garuda was axed in a merger. The silver lining was that most of the people from Garuda was relocated to Lakshmi where I found myself. I contacted an old friend and past shell leader of Stormriderz and he graciously helped me get acclimated to the new-ish game. I am a 99THF main now, but I have all but five jobs at 99 and that's playing on limited time lol. It was almost too easy at some points. There are still many challenges though. There are many new battle oriented content designed for high level fun. I mean the seat of your pants, am I going to live or die, kind of fun in these new battle scenarios. I have completed all storylines except Seekers of Audolin. I just finished up Rhapsodies of Vana'diel last night. All of the storylines were great, but my favorites in order is CoP, WoTG, and now RoV. I am going to be here until the servers are dead my friend.
I hope that FF14 gets just as an emotional end as this game did. I never even played it but I found myself respecting it as one of the most popular games of its day. I remember my older cousin playing this game for hours and me watching it.
Me too. I'm highly sure we'll be tearing our hearts out in in utter saddens and joy when FFXIV Finale Expansion comes in the very future. Be sure to bring a box full of tissues😂
Idonteven I highly doubt it imo, I mean I enjoy XIV and I still do but by comparison of story wise XIV was not as emotional to me as XI’s was
It doesn't feel like 15 years(I was in the beta before the game was localized) and I still adventure in Vana'diel. Even though the Rhapsody is over, my heart will always remain in Vana'diel.
Greatest MMORPG of all time. N.1, thanks. Tanaka, Uematsu, Mizuta... as long as you remember.
I remember trying XI years ago, but could never really get started. The way you had to collaborate on everything threw me for a loop since I had no friends to call on. So I left XI after my trial period was up.
I am now regretting that decision. I can read of the stories told throughout its 14 year history, but not getting to play it all for myself, I'll be kicking myself for this for many years. But I found my home next door in Eorzea, where Iroha seems to have got herself stuck. So at least a little piece of Vana'diel will be near me.
+OtakuMage
too bad FFXIV cant compete with FFXI. way too different and everything is dumped every few months.
+SuperDeluxe80 Come back and say that when 14 has as many expansions as 11 , i'll never understand how people keep comparing a decade MMO of fixing, tweaks and improving to a 2 y/o MMO w/ just 1 expansion
Alexander Andrade
quit with all the bullshit about you cant compare them.
even the producer/director dont have faith in FFXIV and mmo's in general. impossible to have what FFXI did.
anyways there are more content patches for FFXIV then most other mmo's now and on top of that once you miss that update its gone forever since its now a ghost town only way to do it is alot of waiting or get friend to help.
FFXIV's content built around making you pay as long as possible from the mouth of yoshida.
but in FFXI most the content is still used today for current items, weapons, etc.
FFXI was around way before the make them pay as long as possible gaming industry came in, it was a game not a cash cow.
when 14 has as many expansions as 11 its going to be broken garbage like they did with 11 when abyssea came in. 14 is almost there already seeing how you can out gear the content before the new stuff is released you can 2 man all the 2.0 bosses with that ilvl200+
P.S: FFXIV is 5 years old now, dont forget vanilla 1.0 then vanilla 2.0, now exp 3.0. dont say 1.0 dont count cuz i have all my progress from that still,
+Alexander Andrade FFXIV been out for over 4 years lol, and they have had tons of experience to pull from with XI so that is no excuse considering its the same company.
ImmortalDraylo Don't count 1.0 in ...with 2.0 its like comparing oil with water so no its been 2 years and again no..they can't pull tons of "experience" from 11 becuz any FF game is like the one before . 11 was the flavor of the moment copying Everquest now with 14 they trying a western style approach .FF15 already proved to be something totally different
I haven't played the game since 2008 and fuck I teared up T_T this music
I spent 12 of the 14 years in Vana'diel, Just wish playonline would drop the sub fee and allow veterans to come back to enjoy the final days of the world they grew up in. I'll miss the days I spent traveling round meeting new friends.
+Lovelyboney too many people still want to pay for it so unfortunately for you they won't be doing that any time soon
Really awesome video! Thanks for uploading it, this will surely be good memories to remember for years to come.
After all these years lol... I've never cried when I beat a game but man I teared up a bit with this one...
Later Vana'diel!! I will always remember the great times I had for 7 years! Now, be at peace Vana'diel. T_T -tear drop-
Thank you for posting this. I can't believe this game just now ended. It was such a strong MMO. I started playing it nearly 13 years ago and the graphics still hold up (imo) to today. I was a 65+ Red Mage on Slyph. Sad that the game finally came to an end.
hello7pm it didn't end, it is tribute to players, ff11 is still on and hope will be! it is End for Rhapsodies mission!
i so badly wish i could’ve grown up with this game. i was born too late, a couple years after the game came out... even just experiencing pieces of thr game through videos like this makes me emotional, i can tell this game was a game like no other. i wish i could’ve experienced it myself.
/tell shadowlina < you can have this>
"Don't forget your family, your friends, your school, or your work" but hell, i'm glad i did cause it was worth it, don't forget Vana'diel.
The honor, the pride, the joy all concluded. So long XI - take care old friend
**SALUTE*** *man-tears were shed*
holy cow. Just finishes the story, 13 years after playing for the first time. i had to watch it again! Just amazing
FFXI is by far the best game I have ever played - not necessarily for the actual gameplay (which I thought was OK, for the time) but because of the sense of community and the relationships you built with people along the way.
The game forced you to group with people in order to get anything done, which in turn helped you build long lasting relationships. In WoW, FFXIV and other MMO's you can be surrounded by hundreds if not thousands of other players and still feel like you are playing solo, grinding out meaningless quests and queuing for dungeons with an automatic matchmaker.. with people not even on your server and who you will never meet again! Even though places like Valkrum Dunes were often HELL ON EARTH you all felt like you were in it together to obtain a common goal and.... well I could go on forever,so I'll stop here XD. RIP FFXI, Fairy server 2003-2008.
+1
I can't bring myself to unsub
RIP Midgardsormr server. Terisias will always remember you.
Iroha is in Eorzea now. A little bit of memory lost though.
Truly a great game. So many great memories. There was no game like it nor will there ever be. Farewell, Vana'diel.
Sweet zombie Jesus, I stopped playing about halfway through Adoulin, and this is still SO HEAVY. It feels like I lost a friend.
...I should probably reevaluate my life. Maybe even go outside and make friends with actual humans in person. Or not. You know, whatever.
Stop cutting Wild onions with your onion sword whoever you are!!! -_-
Actually... population is growing again.... :)
I never got the chance to play ffxi and was serving in the military. But I literally cried of emotions even I barely know what happen. This was DEEP.
My only think was if the video could of added imposed dialogue to make it easier to read what everyone is saying.
Just finished this in game during the free login period. The Rhapsodies storyline was a great way to "end" the game. It intertwined all the missions from the very beginning and connected all the eras the game. Seeing the last stand with the heroes of the 4 nations and main protagonists of all expansions, inheriting all the avatars, watching the heroines fight so you can enter the crystal, and of course seeing the images in the clouds of all the zones and events we've been through in the place you fought the Cloud of Darkness.
The last part especially reminded me of all the experiences and bonds I've had with friends and strangers in all the various zones. FFXI will forever be a part of me and it is one of the strongest memories I'll have of my youth.
+RichDavis13 Yeah. It wasnt the perfect storyline, but it all built up so well into this really emotional piece.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm glad that lots of people like you have been coming back to finish the game during Free week. ^^
And so the curtain closes on FFXI...and what a send off. It's been around two years since I've even played the game as Seekers just wasn't doing it for me (despite having a nice new setting. I was always intrigued by the "western continent"), but I was losing the drive to play sometime after the last Abyssea. That being said, I would never trade the time and effort I put into the old school FFXI. It was on of the best gaming experiences ever and all the wonderful people who I'm still friends with to this day...priceless.
I've made the jump to 14 and I'm having a blast and look forward to the man grand expansions down the line. And don't worry, we'll take care of Iroha for you all. =D
Shes not stuck in eorzia if you bothered to read the cs by that point she had many rebirth and vanadiel survived and gilgamesh travels so iroah will be able to travel. Shes too good for eorzia. Shes tough like tenzin was, she wont be stuck
She looks better in XI than she does in XIV
i was just told that her hair and eyes are red in this cutscene because she released the power of phoenix or something. A flavorful addition to why i love how legendary powers transcend the different universes of Final fantasy.
SHADOWLINA.......THE LITTLE TARU THAT COULD.
Truly sad. I played this for about 7 years, zilart to wings of the goddess.
Rocking that chorus @10:50
I didnt get to see this to the end as my server remora merged with leviathan. Ill forever miss the people i played with. Thank you all - TERRASHINOBI / LONEWOLFTERRA
game is becoming free to play
+Doomtrigger No its not =-=
+Doomtrigger No, it isn't. Square is going to kill it without it ever doing such.
Kids today will never know...
Sooo.... FFXI was such a hard game that it took a 14 year long quest to obtain a phoenix tail.. at the end of the game.
Iroha's outfit was an event reward in FF14 a while back
ffxi will never really die... thank the goddess for private servers
i played this event in ff14 and once i was done with it i started to miss ff11 again so i started playing it again lol
Sharmista.. Fairy Server :( I miss everyone. This was my life for a long time.
This reminds me of when I used to have feelings.
That chorus... things are getting a bit dusty in here. I submitted my voice for it, so I'm a bit disappointed that there wasn't individual credits in the list -- but I'm cool if they consider me (and others) to be part of "Vana'diel's Finest."
RIP ffxi
Sad ending to a game i could never play. At least it will still live on in the PC version. For at least a little while longer.
Sadly, i could never deal with a menu based game like this. That is my only reason for not playing this.
+mouseno4 You're supposed to play with macros which are essentially the same as a hotbar in another MMOs; you have two bars, a CTRL and an ALT bar per macro page. Due to how needed gear changes mid-fight are, simply just having a hotbar with skills on instead of them being hidden in menus wouldn't really work too well and would actually be unneeded, blocking UI space.
I was explaining why i could never play this, i was not asking for a lesson.
You said you couldn't play it because it was a menu based game; so, what did you mean by that if you weren't talking about no hotbars?
I mean that i cannot play a game that relies on menus to play.
I was never able to experience this game, I started playing ff14 and did the cross over event that was tied to this story, my hubby had played this game though and told me of all of the fun times he had, I felt sad that I was never able to experience it, however seeing this made me tear up even though I never played D:
+KyubiChan1
There are some private servers that are great.
Some even kept the lvl 75 cap when the game was still good and balanced.
Where?
+KyubiChan1 You could still give it a try. You can get the whole pack for $10 if it's still on sale. The PC side of the game is still going and should for quite a while still.
I wonder what's the name of the song, would love to get this as MP3 with the full chorus. Sure it's a 10 minute song, but that's what makes it amazing.
Thank you for 14 years, FFXI. Man, that makes me old, but no regrets.
+Franck Knight The song is simply titled "Rhapsody of Vana'diel"
heres the full length version here (Artwork on the video contains spoilers): ua-cam.com/video/AekeU5Z9w9M/v-deo.html
+Lina_ Thanks for the link! There was a Mediafire download link in the comments, with better volume than ripping it off your video (not to mention we hear some Text-to-Speech midway through XD Not sure what it said though).
Only thing missing are lyrics translation now :P
And Iroha ends up in FFXIV's Eorzea. At least Square's multiverse isn't too confusing......ah, who am I kidding
i think in lore, she was sent eorzea by altana. so it isn't too confusing because vana'diel lives on as its own separate universe
@@iFFXIshadowlina isnt it implied she leaves eorzia though or at least can travel like gilgamesh? Cuz she said she had many rebirth. Which she said she remembers them and says she sees the hero in the future. So if that's true and the hero in 11 isnt the hero in 14 then I doubt shes stuck
Anyone know of a way to replay the whole line of cutscenes? The Goblin Footprint in Reisenjima Sanctorum only gives little tidbits. An old friend helped with the fight and I was recording the fight with Cloud of Darkness, but I went as WHM in a hodgepodge of gear that looked stupid so I stopped recording. Big mistake.
You can re watch all of it in the goblin footprint in reisenjima (not sanctum )
Thank you. Got it all.
I just cant play ff14 after a good game like that , a spiritual sequel is needed but it will never happend im sad ...
Wasnt the ending the thing about how the hero in the future caused a problem. Went back to past to fix it and iroah came from said future. And all the people deemed evil were the ones who saved the world? They tried to put prishe in lock down, they tried to kill salteus or whatever that boy's name was and lilisette messed with time kinda but I guess they fixed it cuz certain things can fix old timelines. Sorry I'm asking, it's been some time and this game had a complex timeline. And technically it may or may not have a few, cuz in a alternate reality promathia may or may not have beat the hero cuz shinryu was promathia fused with a wyrm. But abbysea was considered a diff dimension and timeline. But the ending did tie it up nicely. Only game I ever cried
Do you feel that feels? Too bad I was born too late to enjoy this game.
+Viktor Rucký I'd recommend giving it a try. It's still a ton of fun. (The whole pack you can get for $10 if it's still on sale)
MomoFerret I already tried it on the Nasomi private server.
+Viktor Rucký Im sorry, this is coming from a player who was loyal to XI for 11 years, the Private servers are nothing compared to the official servers
Devlin Dreadwood
But this one is none like the others, the admin gave 1000's of $'s. And is quite stable with a, for a private server, large population.
Is there a credits that list the voices they ended up using in the chorus? I submitted my voice track but I have no idea if it made the final cut~ I think i'll be resubbing for return home to vanadiel...
+ValNika Vlogs For now no there is not. the poor intern who trawled through it all! Take pitty on him!
Well when they asked us to submit our voices, they had us submit our character name and server. Figured that would mean that there would be credits somewhere..
Does anyone know if there's a precise version of the song that starts at 1:20 ? Like, that actual version. The closest I've found is First Ode from CoP ost, but nothing of this precise version which plays quite a few times through out the games expansions.
the song is called recollection. its from the original game ost not cop.
+Lina_ Thank you!!! Your awesome omo
Np ^^
brb got dust or something in my eye
Thanks for the upload, thought I would never see this ending as XIV sucks up all my time (mmo wise anyway). One bright side is that Ihora will live on in Eorzea.
She left eorzia after that event. Went back to her master and such. She didnt live in 14. It like how gilgamesh collects swords in multiverse then leaves
What's the name of the sad harp song in the beginning? Before the ending song plays?
+babarrett1 ua-cam.com/video/oHUdqzZPpP8/v-deo.html
It's called Recollections, it's been in the game since release.
+Lina_ TY, I never played XI, only XIV. when SE did the crossover event, and brought Iroha to Eorzea I was curious what happened to her that brought her to my world, I wish I could play XI
The sound volume is *really* weak. I have all of my volume gains all the way up and I can barely hear the BGM...
T_T Im a veteran from server carbuncle Ive been playing 11 years ;-; since i was 12 I cant believe its over T_T Im going to miss my Kenkonken my taru taru named kitro to :-: why?
+Gamer Ghoul it doesnt have to end this way
ooo it's Shadowlina from Sylph?
+Thai-Binh Nguyen Yes! Yes it is :)

Theres the Lyrics there. ^^ Sorry if it's late. Or you have already seen it.
+Lina_ Thank you Lina. :)
