    The biggest crime against the human spirit is damning the mother spirit, whether it is woman in general or the spirit in US ALL, causing major imbalances. Easier to control if we are damaged. This is literally the single point that brought me out of Christianity was because I heard a woman's voice call my name, like a mother calls her child. It's been the most healing thing I have done my whole life to recognize the mother spirit, whatever name you want to call her/it. And feminism is not feminine if it tries to conquer like men do, that's just more masculine energy. NOT HELPING. Thanks for the video. I just started looking into the Nordic spiritual side of things. I feel like I connect to it more than anything else.

      In Christianity you can find the femenine aspect of divinity in Mary. As long as you aren't protestant.

      It’d say feminism is the perfect mix of the corrupt version masculine and feminine energy

      @@brujo_millonario that is very beautiful but regardless of ber the patriarchy is still very present. Sexual shame is also highly damaging even for our bodies, it literally creates diseases in many parts of the body, even headaches. Progress comes, I believe when the feminine, intuitive knowledge is structured, classified made practical,ecc by the masculine

      The Devine has been deliberately removed from our beliefs. It’s funny because the feminine goddess is our world, our universe our form and energies. I wonder why. 🤔

    Yes, Jørmungandr, one of the offspring/facets of Loke, means 'the magical sword (force) that protects', which is basically the same meaning as Vardlokur. I've personally interpreted Loke as a kind of kundalini force. The rope used binding Fenris was made by uniting opposites by the dwarves: a bird's spit and a fish's breath etc. Which is the way to channel the two nadis: Ida and Pingala (energy channels) into sushumna (the central channel), the river flowing out of Fenris's mouth, by alternating nostril breathing method or meditation (in order to get a balanced ascension). Jørmungandr is of course also a measure of a time cycle, and the snake was a cross-cultural symbol for the Sun (Maya and Egyptian religions).

    thank you for your informative lectures because viewers are learning a lot. the seidr practices included various magics such as healing, preparing ritual garments and tapestries, and prophesying because the seidr refers to the norse priesthood. the chief priest or priestess was called ayes sedaei and the priestesses were called ajahs. each ajah department had a different color which represented its functions. for example jord was called gruend because she served as a green ajah priestess from early childhood specialising in plant rituals and healing. meytal menkin, rechovot, israel

    "She that remembers, the first on earth,
    when Gullveig they with lances pierced,
    and in the high one's hall her burnt,
    thrice burnt, thrice brought forth,
    oft not seldom; yet she still lives.
    Heidi they called her, whitherso'er she came,
    the well-foreseeing Vala:
    wolves she tamed, magic arts she knew, magic arts practiced;
    ever she was the joy of evil people."
    You think this Gullveig-Heidi was Freyja? That the Gods speared and burnt the goddess of love and fertility three times? Further more she was "ever a joy to evil people"? Okay.

    • @stephen8996
      @stephen8996 5 років тому +11

    Brilliant insights and interpretation as always. Thank you once again.
    I’ve just had a thought to maybe add another dimension to your interpretation - One of the reasons Odin was mocked and banished from the realm of the Gods (was it Valhalla, or some other realm?) was because of his use of seider (shape shifting) to gain the mead of poetry.
    We can see poetry as wisdom/knowledge/skill/oratory/etc and thereby power. As Odin eventually become the All-Father we can view his transgression of social norms and mores as culturally progressive; his wisdom wiser than the tyranny of mob rule, and also teleologically (if I can use that word) more powerful.
    My two pennies anyway...
    Hail Odin! ⚔️🖋🍷🙏🏽

    Hey! Thank you for your amazing videos and the great information! I love this. Just as a side note and maybe a thought. The word lokur or lockur or lokkur most likely means to summon. In Swedish (I am from Sweden, living in the US) to "locka" someone or something means to summon, tease or call forth. So lokkur seems to be an old form of locka which then would mean to call forth. I could of course be wrong, but there are so many old words that can be traced into our modern languages, either Swedish, Danish, Norwegian or Icelandic. Thank you again.

    Seidr relied on less logically geared ritual than Galdr although still intrinsically working via the principles, wisdom and practices of (Stav) runelore.
    From a more evolved human vehicle perspective the sacred feminine and masculine merges in union (3rd eye awakening to use ref' to chakras / to use the the world-tree POV we see keen all seeing gaze of Veðrfölnir, the hawk sitting between the eyes of the great eagle that is perched on top of the world tree Yggdrasil) and thus runic lore can be seen to encompass all these principles and the ability to journey.

    I’m late to the party but I have a question.. Odin once went to a Völva for information and she told him of Ragnarok and his past and his future correct? The Völva who consulted with Odin told him about losing his eye and he hung from Yggdrasil for 9 days. I want to make sure I’m understanding this correctly as I’ve been studying the ways of the Völva and Seidr and Stav Magic.
    I’ve been reading a lot and have learned so much and was inspired to research this and become a student of Seidr and Völva because my ancestor was a well known Völva who hid her identity until her husband was wanting to marry another woman and she prophesied that their future son would prove her lineage due to him being born with a “snake in the eye”. I totally understand the many stories of Ragnar and whether or not he was a true man but because I descend from his and Aslaug’s son Björn Ironside I wanted to know more.
    Genealogy is a very exciting thing when set on a path of knowledge and understanding of who your ancestors were and their stories of what made them who they are. Fun fact and very weird thing in my family is my niece has a “snake in the eye” as same as Sigurd. When she was born the first time I held her she opened her eyes which are an amazing crystal blue with the snake eye and I not realizing I was not talking to myself in my head lol I said she is of Aslaug and Sigurd with the snake in the eye. The nurses, my sister, my mom, and whoever else was there looked at me like I just spoke a weird language or that I had 9 heads! 😂 I then looked at their faces and said oh let me explain.. I then told them the story of Aslaug, Ragnar, and Sigurd, and that Lacy had Sigurd’s eye. It’s hilarious when people don’t believe me and I have to show them the photos of her eye and they freak out in a good way.
    I guess I’m the only one in the family that really studies our ancestors from everything that is in sagas, poems, or true history. It would be interesting to see her do a DNA test and see what it says. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

    I look forward to learning more about this subject. It seems odd that our main western religion is Christianity in which God used the Gentiles to destroy/correct his people the Jews and then supported the Jews in destroying their enemies, the Gentiles. I would rather learn the history of the European Gods though I suppose they often warred with each other. Glad that shamanism and other such practices aren't demonized and unallowed as topics but are explained.

    Hi Arith! so then galdr wasn't necessarily a practice for males? I saw someone saying that in another channel but my understanding is that galdr could be practice by both right? It just didn't have the stigma of unmanliness. I've read about volur asking local women to perform galdr before getting into a trance state, and also to ease childbirth. And also, I 've read galdr as probably sang in falsetto... it may be far fetched but do you think there could be a link between kulning and galdr?

  • @timeaesnyx

    So, to potentially oversimplify,, seidr is spirit work & galdr is energy work?

    • @ArithHärger
      @ArithHärger  6 років тому +6

      the problem here is that Seidr also uses Galdr at a certain extent but Galdr alone doesn't use Seidr. It's like rune work... Rune Divination, Rune-Reading, Runology doesn't necessarily requires the use of Seidr, although other rune-works require Seidr.

    Greetings Arith. This is most informative as Seidr is not a subject that I have studied, as yet. What are the source materials, especially for the songs/chants? What is the chant or song that you have performed in the intro to this? Are you familiar with the work of Paleowolf?
    ua-cam.com/video/KVbXdWJ8BF4/v-deo.html
    Or maybe the Faroese performer Eivør Pálsdóttir? She does very atmospheric songs and, of course, in a language that must be close to the Vikings.

    I’m not sure why you say so firmly that as seidr isn’t witchcraft. The way you described seidr at the beginning exactly matches the way I’ve heard witchcraft described from many practitioners as recently as this morning. Also witchcraft is often associated with women even though many men practice it as well.

    • @maggiewolf9284
      @maggiewolf9284 6 років тому +3

      I would suggest that Galdur is nearer modern ideas of witchcraft than Seidr; which, as Arith pointed out in the video is nearer shamanic type practices. Personally I would agree, but I do know some modern witches [thinking of a few hedge-witch friends in particular ;) ] who's practice is nearer medicine-woman/shamanic than say Wicca, so can see some of your point. Will think on it more. /l\

      On my next videos (spinning and weaving in Seidr) I've developed that statement. It's not just witchcraft and there's a reason for it as I will try to demonstrate on the next videos.

    Yes.Such a colourful world before the Roman "Civilisation." Christianity came on top of the Roman gods which destroyed the Druids & their sacred oaks.Building idols to Mars & Jupiter(Roman gods.) So the ancient tribes,celts,germanics,norse etc. All eventually gave in to Rom.Christ.after dying in battle for their beliefs.

    This will sound crazy as many people follow this path for many reasons other than true belief, but I do live this path. In your other video about eating of hearts, you've already talked about how the sources have this bias to create a negative connotation about women, and magic in heathen practices to make it appear evil. So you mention sources say women were the practioners - are those the same sources you've already said paint this picture of pagan evil because of women and magic? Because the texts don't show Odin as the only male practioner of seidr, but also Odin learned this magic art by Freya and then he teached his own 12 men/preists the art and then Snorri also gives many other examples of male practitioners of seiðr in his sagas...
