The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

How true... Connie Francis and Bobby D...Today we have Cardi B and Jay Z
when two people like each other---sparks fly
They loved eachother
You can really see the love in her eyes when she looks @ Bobby.....her one true love.
Maybe, but pretty sure that was called stage acting. But with his career compared to hers, she may have had an eye on that, no? Then again he was dead at 39 and she's still with us. So scoreboard?
@@stevec6455 I know first hand, that Bobby was really Connie's one true love. Wherever she appeared, an 8x10 photo of Bobby was on one of the tables. Yes, sadly, he died @ 39, and Connie, thank G-d, is still with us @ 85, retired and enjoying life in Florida.
@@stevec6455 Well she did admit Bobby Darin was the love of her life.
If only her overprotective father hadn't chased Bobby away with a gun, who knows what would have happened between them.
@@spaakfan I read about that in Connie's autobiography, "Who's Sorry Now". Connie's father hated Bobby Darin. In Dec 1960, when Connie and her father were driving to Manhattan, the news came over the radio that Bobby had married Sandra Dee. Connie was devastated, her father was elated.
Wow !
Now i know why Connie was voted the best female entertainer of the 20th century .
This is proof that she is the best .
Great show. I wish Bobby and Connie worked together a lot more on records and movies. That would have been good for both of them. Thanks for posting.
So cute and they sing great together.
She's such a pretty girl , and what a lovely couple
Great couple. The best of the best
Sweet and swell! I love the personalized lyrics.
You're the top is so apropos for these two beautiful artists.
Two Legends!
Joyful!
Bobby Darin and Connie the voices 50 And 60.
Absolutely love it! Her one true love
Really great!
Excellent. Should have done more together
Ah those were the days people!
She looked at him with love..was Great Bobby
Just an incredible performance by Connie & Bobby!
Very refreshing song
Beautiful
They were awesome together.
One of the top songs by Cole Porter, one of the top songwriters!
There's lots of discussion of "what if" regarding Connie and Bobby, in 1984 autobiography Connie wrote about when Bobby wanted to elope with her but she felt too young to leave home. Bobby told her he could get a job but Connie felt this guy is going places and she couldn't see how Bobby working a regular job because he was star material even before becoming a star. She wrote that Bobby said "I have to become a big star soon" which Connie replied why the rush, the world will not come to an end. Bobby said he has a weak heart and probably won't live beyond 30 so his world will come to an end. He certainly had drive (also learned to dance, play the drums, trumpet, guitar). But also other "what if" Dick Clark didn't come across her 1957 recording of WSN and Connie went on to her pre-med scholarship and become a physician? Once discovered Connie went on to the big time of Ed Sullivan show, Copa, etc. after all she had lots of performance on stage experience. And then the dress she wore! It was store bought. Story goes she had to wear something nice for Ed Sullivan show so went to downtown NYC, found a gown. And what a beautiful dress and she wears it so well. I met a fan at a CF concert, Alan I think was his name, who knew the store name and where it was located. Long gone of course these days. I had a seamstress make a replica of this dress, not exact material, but same style and concept for a lady who modeled it at a local beauty pageant.
OMG! That is so interesting! Thanks for sharing :)
Wow.
What's not to like 😊
Que lindos , que pena no se quedaron juntos.
QUE LINDOS BONITAS VOCES
❤
They wanted to get married, but her strict Italian father put the kibosh on their plans.
Yes. And she said years later it was the biggest mistake of her life.
@@timetowakeup6302 do you have the link to that interview? I'd love to see it
So he married Sandra Dee instead. Not bad at all
If ever that love died her father was 'controlling'
That Bobby Darin came up at the right time. Seems to me he was more talk singing than real singing. Anybody, just saying?
Nice 👍 I didn't see the notification. Can you please do Connie's Winchester Cathedral ❤ =)
Society has regressed....
6 months after this tv show bobby darin married sandra dee.
I'm sure they become good friends
I wish Bobby and Connie had married.
She should of married him
Wow, seems contrived. Which means more manufactured than natural. You're welcome.
