  • Join us for our most special moment yet on this channel! Zermatt took our breath away, starting with this trip aboard Switzerland's Gornergrat Bahn to the top for amazing views, and an extra special one on one time at sunset in the shadow of the Matterhorn with the famous Valais Blacknose Sheep!
    ----
Last week's video: 24 Hours in Venice, Italy - • 24 HOURS IN VENICE, IT...
    ----
In this week's video, we made the 5 or so hour drive from Venice, through the alps, and up into Zermatt, Switzerland. Home to one of the world's most famous mountains, the Matterhorn, Zermatt is a safe haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Most popular for its world-class skiing during the winter months, Zermatt is still just as amazing in the summer months when the beautiful colors of the mountains can shine.
After a long car drive, we parked the car in Tasch and took the train in to Zermatt. Gasoline powered vehicles are not allowed in Zermatt, which helps to not only keep noise pollution down, but air pollution as well. Once we reached the station, we made our way over to @ZermattTourismus_swiss for some much needed help in polishing the details of our stay. After a short bus ride to our hotel, @hotelplateaurosa1314 , we checked in and promptly took a taxi back to the @GornergratBahn1898 for an incredibly beautiful ride aboard Switzerland's oldest electric cogwheel train.
Once at the top of Gornergrat, the views took us away. It was unlike anything we had ever seen before. After an hour or so of enjoying the views of the glaciers, and the Matterhorn, we took the train back - initially intending to just head back into town for dinner. Little did we know we were about to have the most amazing and memorable spontaneous moments on this channel.
Zermatt and the Matterhorn are known for their Valais Blacknose Sheep. They're so popular that there's a public online GPS tracker so you can see where the sheep are at all times, in hopes of meeting with them. Once we saw them on the train, we knew we had to take opportunity to mingle with the sheep. We managed to have them all to ourselves, as the shepherd corralled the sheep for the night. Let alone the experience with a couple dozen sheep all around us, we were lit by an incredible sunset casting glowing orange and red hues throughout the mountainscape and the whispy clouds at the top of the Matterhorn. An incredible moment we wont soon forget.
After gathering ourselves, we made our way back on the last ride of the night to Zermatt for some excellent food and drinks at the North Wall Bar. To round out the video, we felt it was only right to share a bit about the hotel we were staying at, and especially the beautiful balcony view of the Matterhorn!
All in all, an excellent way to start off a trip to Zermatt. Be sure to stay tuned for next week's video as we take on Glacier Paradise and Chez Heini! Thanks for watching, we hope you enjoyed the video. Be sure to like, comment & subscribe! We'll see you in the next one!

Right? Zermatt was incredible. That shot was surprising, this camera (Sony A7SII) still does quite well for being 8 years old. We got it for its lowlight performance and it impresses! Thanks for watching!

We got off at the Riffelberg train station! We got lucky and the shepherd just happened to be herding them into the pen for the night. The sheep actually wear GPS collars that you can track their location with here: sheep.gornergrat.ch/en/
