Japan started the sixth round of the release of nuclear-contaminated wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the Pacific Ocean.
About 7,800 tonnes of nuclear-contaminated wastewater is being discharged from about a kilometer off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture via an underwater tunnel until June 4. About 39,000 tonnes of nuclear-contaminated wastewater has been released into the sea over five previous rounds since last August.

    And nobody seems to care.

Nobody needs to care. All nuclear power plants have always released the same tritiated water and no one in world history has ever been injured by this practice.

People care, but the plan meets IAEA safety. They are discharging 22 trillion Bq annually. Other normally functioning nuke reactors routinely release way more than that. Do you care about whats happening in your own country? Cause Angra nuclear reactor near Rio had a contaminated water leak in 2022 that the company covered up for month. That is leaking straight up reactor contaminated water with no ALP treatment to remove all the wonderful assortment of radionucleotides.
