I have an older van that had a positive and negative connections that go completely dead when i shut the ignition off in the vehicle. When i found the im attached a female 12v cigarette plug to it and then plugged in the male cig plug into that. All you have to go is search in your car what electrical component goes dead when you turn the ignition off and tap into that. Hope this helped.
Fahad Meer You have to use the original Garmin usb-cigarette plug that came with the unit, I've read that Garmin uses a 5 pin usb port and most generic USB cables only come with 4 pins. If you are using the original then your cigarette outlet may be always on meaning that turning the car key on or off doesn't affect the outlet state.
