I’ve kept dairy goats for over 60 years and made every mistake in the book and then some. Of course, I’m in Appalachian Mountains, USA, temperate rain forest, so totally different climate. Snails in the wet areas carry liver fluke and it can kill goats. Copper sulfate works, and also protects from other internal and external parasites. They can’t lick enough minerals off a salt/mineral lick to meet their needs and most licks are high in urea, poisonous to goats. I’ve learned to feed them a loose mineral higher in copper sulfate, and also supplement a little extra in their sprouted oats/sunflower ration. They also get baking soda free choice in a mineral feeder and kelp in another mineral box. The Pat Coleman books on goatkeeping have a lot of vital information.
