I came here because I was trying to understand more about Chan Buddhism. And now that I've heard Laoshi Guo Gu I'm ready to engaged with the practice until I'm able to be free. I was just looking for a way to live Chan without withdrawing from the world... A ten thousand thanks for sharing this crucial content with everybody us and give me a hope. 🙏

An inspirational talk! I love how the early Chan meditators continued to walk the path despite poltical upheaval.

Thank you for sharing this teaching. It was nice to get a reminder that there's more to Chan than just sitting meditation. I've found myself at times falling into the trap of viewing my practice based only on how I feel I'm doing in seated meditation. I try to remind myself that the sitting is just the rehearsal and daily life is the main event. I also really connected with Guo Gu's teaching style. He has a quiet intensity that drew me right in. Looking forward to listening to more of his talks.

The history of Chan predates the introduction of Buddhism. As is the case with most worthy philosophies, the introduction of religion has convoluted the efficacy of Chan and Taoism. Fishing use to be a simple task of using a net and common sense. Now, science has brought unnecessary elements to the simple act of fishing. Buddhism has done to ancient Taoism what science did to fishing. Zen is an offspring of Chan brought to Japan from China. Chan Buddhism is still Buddhism. Meditation should be an intimate and personal experience that has nothing to do with imported ideologies. The moment of NOW is where you can find tranquility and peace.
