Was this on 131? It always amazes me that every year people have to relearn how to drive in snow. I’m originally from the GR area, very familiar with Michigan winters, now live in Colorado
I’m 38 years old I grew up in Boston. I’ve done plowing I’ve driven in so many horrible weather areas. I always and I mean always go slow when it’s wet or snowing. I’m too scared to drive above the speed limit or even the speed limit when it’s really bad. I have seen so many people drive so fast in the snow and then wipe out and crash. It makes no sense to me why people think it’s OK to drive in the snow that fast
In California they have a law called, "Speed unsafe for conditions". If it's foggy or snow/ice or heavy rain and even a dust storm, you can get a ticket even though you may be going under the speed limit. They also have a law if you're going too slow on the freeway during normal conditions. I think if you're doing less than 50 mph.
That was on I-94. That road is ridiculous!! Crashes happen EVERY DAY on that road in the winter! Why people who drive that road on daily basis STILL don't know to take it easy, is beyond me!
FINALLY A VIDEO OF THIS ACCIDENT WHERE THERE'S INFORMATION TELLING US THERE WERE NO INJURIES! I HAVE SEEN THIS THREE OTHER TIMES AND IT'S JUST A VIDEO OF IT HAPPENING AND THEM ON THE RADIO SAYING IS EVERYONE OKAY? AND THEN THAT'S IT
That stretch on 94 near Kalamazoo is the worst when it snows. The flakes come down light and big and they create a whiteout condition from traffic blowing them up in the air.
Retired teacher here! It is amazing how people these days think they can defy the Laws of Physics! They just drive as fast as usual no matter if snow or ice or rain are on the roads! 🤔🤔😉😉🤨🤨🙄🙄🙄🙄
Amazing how well that fire truck/ladder tender absorbed the impact of that big box truck! Although the back end slid over a little bit, it barely moved forward at all. I can't remember how many gallons of water that piece of apparatus holds, but the overall weight must be considerable! Makes sense that they specifically park those vehicles very strategically on highway accident scenes for protection of responders and victims!
Thank God everyone is safe and well. No matter the experience of driving on dry, wet, snowy, etc. slow driving is better. Why the hurry in any situation?
I won’t be surprised like 20 years from now when you’re driving and it’s snowing or it’s really raining hard cars automatically go to a certain speed limit.
They must have heard the semitruck trying to stop. They we all on the backside of the fire truck. Thank you Lord for protecting our First Responder Firefighter crew!
Drive according to conditions! If it's raining every motorist is suppose to have the vehicles headlights on day or night. Sunset is considered nighttime, the sun is still up a little, turn on your headlights. This is some bad snow, drop your speed 10-20%, emergency vehicles, drop 45mph and put on your flashers until your clear of them. Then turn off flasher and continue. You think that trucker is in a hurry now?
It never ceases to amaze me how many people think driving in winter conditions is like driving in mid summer conditions. One must adjust their driving styles to compensate for different conditions. If you don't have that concept or understanding in your head then this is the outcome!!! You're nothing more than a danger to the public at large!!!
Why are people in the comments section stating that the truck was going too fast when it was clearly traveling at the same velocity as all the other vehicles in the video? This was caused by an abrupt lane change where the driver tried to get over too quickly for the road conditions, overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. Remember, the government says it's totally safe to pull people over for money and create the very roadside hazard which foments the leading cause of highway deaths(abrupt lane changes) from the government's own numbers. That's pure insanity, sad, but true. We should fix that, and put the adults in charge for a change.
Like my dear Father used to say: "When it rains or snows drivers go faster!" He was right and on top of that, those speeding when the weather conditions are dangerous are texting!
It looks like black ice under the snow. The truck driver most likely over compensated for the slow down. Too many people get scared and over compensated in the snow not knowing that there is black ice under the snow.
Why are people still trying to drive speed limits or higher in these cold temps and rain/snow. Slow down. Please save your own life and others.
And if you're reading this warning while driving?
Pure stupidity.

Was this on 131? It always amazes me that every year people have to relearn how to drive in snow. I’m originally from the GR area, very familiar with Michigan winters, now live in Colorado
I wouldn't want to have to pay for a new fire engine😮
Down the road from where I live , please slow down and pay attention and move over when possible,,
I’m glad everyone is okay. Wow. Let’s be careful out there!
You will get by faster if you slow down. If you crash you will never leave and be there along long time. It will cost you the rest of your life.
I Pray everyone is ok 🙏
Everyone firmly believes that the electronics built into the car can defy the laws of physics
Thank God those responders are safe.
I just don't understand why folks don't take there foot off the gas pedal when they see flashing lights
It snows 8 months out of the year in Michigan. In the 4 months it doesn't snow, everybody forgets how to drive in it.
How was thendriver not injured??
Between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek on I-94 is crazy in the winter!
I was blinded by all those flashing lights.
Sure you were
That was on I-94. That road is ridiculous!! Crashes happen EVERY DAY on that road in the winter! Why people who drive that road on daily basis STILL don't know to take it easy, is beyond me!
25 mph when the roads are icy! You could tell he was not going 25 mph! This needs to be inforced Nation Wide!
That fire trick took that hit like a champ.
Dam! She didn’t lie!
I-94 is West Michigan is a nightmare. There has been so many huge pile ups there.
Now arrest the driver for wreckless driving, speeding, driving too fast for conditions, and failure to yield.
Was that Amazon delivery?
The truck driver was sleeping 😴 💤
Where was it
My husband is from Kalamazoo, he said "Yep, every winter"
Amazing how well that fire truck/ladder tender absorbed the impact of that big box truck! Although the back end slid over a little bit, it barely moved forward at all. I can't remember how many gallons of water that piece of apparatus holds, but the overall weight must be considerable! Makes sense that they specifically park those vehicles very strategically on highway accident scenes for protection of responders and victims!
This is more proof that all truck drivers love to drive fast, and it is proof that trucker's insurance is dirt cheap even after various accidents.
That fire truck is basically a tank. It barely took any damage in the collision with the box truck
In Alberta, Canada speed is 60 kph (35 mph) and fines are double when lights are flashing. (Red,blue ,amber on any vehicle
Yes can see that on the snow covered road, just drive full speed has on a summer day
Thank God everyone is safe and well. No matter the experience of driving on dry, wet, snowy, etc. slow driving is better. Why the hurry in any situation?
I won’t be surprised like 20 years from now when you’re driving and it’s snowing or it’s really raining hard cars automatically go to a certain speed limit.
Oh that spot. The trucking school where I got my CDL was in those buildings on the right. Place been abandoned for quite awhile though
They must have heard the semitruck trying to stop. They we all on the backside of the fire truck. Thank you Lord for protecting our First Responder Firefighter crew!
My hometown im praying for everyone 🙏
Your deliveries here ! ! 😂
Scary so glad everyone was okay.
That was a fatality as the truck driver died after being hospitalized. Prayers . . .
We had a pile up with over 100 vehicles in the same area a few years ago.
Everyone knows how to drive in the snow until they don't
Like my dear Father used to say: "When it rains or snows drivers go faster!" He was right and on top of that, those speeding when the weather conditions are dangerous are texting!
It looks like black ice under the snow. The truck driver most likely over compensated for the slow down. Too many people get scared and over compensated in the snow not knowing that there is black ice under the snow.
business owners insurance: who are you again?
That made me jump. Driving on icy roads one needs to have plenty of space and time to stop.
