- Geo discusses which striker we could see at West Ham United next season as the Hammers are linked to Ivan Toney and Jhon Duran as well as Dutch striker Memphis Depay, after his contract expired at Atletico Madrid.
Reports suggest a striker is next on the cards for Tim Steidten, as Max Kilman has passed his West Ham medical and will become Julen Lopetegui's third signing of the summer transfer window.

I think Carvalho be very clever business, can operate on that left side too. Has he gone anywhere or just with Liverpool for now? Unsure he’s at that level yet

Watching his form towards the end of the season I'm not convinced he'd be a guaranteed success.
30 million would be a fair price for duran and villa should see that as a good double your money return, 50 they wont be getting... funnily enough this reminds me of the broja situation at Chelsea, the irony.
Toney and Depay I'd both be pleased with but I'm still concerned about the age of players we're going for and think steidten should be lining up unheard of gems
I think you need strong foundations before going heavy on younger players. Give it a couple of seasons and I think we’ll see more younger players coming in.
Left back is a good example I think, it’s fine for this season, get a youngster next summer (replace Cresswell) and become an understudy to Emerson for a season or two
@HammersChat Do we not already have older foundations at the club who have enough experience for this though? Antonio, Bowen, Paqueta, Alvarez, Soucek, Emerson, Areola, Fab, JWP, Cress...
I'd expect them all to be here next season and thats plenty of experience

Take the striker for example, I think he needs to be a ‘strong’ purchase but if we moved on Ings, his replacement could be younger.
From what I've read from Villa fans they don't rate Duran. The striker I'd love us to sign is Gyökeres but it's highly unlikely that will happen.

Geo, if we are gonna use the possession based/target man style, Toney is our man. Imagine Menphis putting over those Dimitri Payet esk ish balls. Bread and butter for Ivon the Engine steaming in. Will Toney wanna come to East London..... Less likely, should he score 2 - 3 for England.

Duran is the better age but at 50mil he would have to be incredible to make a profit on. Depay seems a bit “Ronaldo”, it’s all about him. Toney looks like he would fit our system, seems a good bloke and probably has the highest profile in England, to get fans excited for the signing.
That said, when you look at the Leverkusen model of young upcomers and old war dogs I could see Tim going for Depay.
Duran is 50m, Toney will be 50m, Depay will want 200k a week. None of these are viable in my opinion.
@@DC-uf6ve Toney is in his last year, Brentford have to sell so he could go for less than 50, I don’t think Brentford are rich enough that it’s worth losing 30-40mil to keep him for one last season, especially when they already have his replacement in place.

Depends whether Loppy wants a starting CF, or a squad option to compete with Bowen and Antonio.
If a squad option, I still think Broja is worth a punt for a low fee. Even Fulham fans said he looked good in the limited minutes for them. Dare I say, even Calvert-Lewin as long as the fee and wages are sensible.
If it’s a first choice CF he wants, probably Toney, En-Nesyri or Abraham, with the latter being a loan with option to buy. I do think Abraham could be the one to watch too.

Forget foreigners/ non prem experienced players. We keep on doing it! I'd pay 40-45 mill for Solanke. He's not top 6 level, but neither are we. Perfect match I say.

@@HammersChat A relativeley mobile and athletic target man. Questions whether he would offer a genuine threat in behind (Banza). Not as good as Toney in terms of being a target man and I think Duran has a much higher ceiling. I agree with you on your analysis of Duran. Pace and presence is there. Clinical. Would need to work on that hold-up play, but at 20, you would expect him to develop physically.
Toney and Depay I wouldn't mind at all. Like Lopetegui says, and I believe there is a method to the madness perhaps, Bring the Noise. COYI

I'd take depay, he averages 1 in 3 throughout his career. Assists are high, in France it was 1 in 3 compared to what we have it would be an upgrade. Like Geo I'm a fan and Dutch. He is frustrating as a player, but another leader on the pitch. And he brings experience and quality.
If you bring in Toney you’re bringing in another guy who has a gambling addiction. Not the best look with what’s going on with Paqueta 😂 Also Duran has attitude problems. Wrecked an apartment he was living in apparently.

Depay and Toney are completely different types of strikers - assume Lopetegui looking for a forward who can hold the ball up and be a threat from crosses which is Toney, whereas Depay would fit anywhere across the front and fit the "wide attacker role. Jonathan Davids is more of a pacey striker - profile personally prefer.

Geo, At this moment, I'd pay £16 - £20 mil with future add on's for Duran. We need as many players as possible who can/would push their way into "starting eleven" . At present, I'd say we have 9, not including Duran. We need at least 14 - 15 b4 kick off.

I’d like Depay if he was to play on the left. I don’t think he’d be as good down the middle, . Nevertheless, along with our other attackers….. it would be fun and or infuriating. Don’t know Duran enough to comment. And of course Tony would be excellent, but I do feel he puts in effort commensurate to his opinion of his and the club’s situation. Another sure he’d be sufficiently chuffed to put his all into it for us.

Duran is too young... He could prove to be brilliant but he's too inexperienced to rely on as your main striker.
At 28 I think Toney could be about to have the best couple of seasons of his life and if he clicked with Bowen and Judus then we could have a World beater... I'd be happy with Toney.
The other names are little more than names pulled out of a hat and can't see us really looking at them but if Jonathan David was a serious option that would be a good buy too but I prefer Toney at this point.
