The Equalizer is a fantastic action pack movie. Denzel Washington was just awesome in this role. The movie starts a little slow but it does have to build to give you a idea what kind of character Denzel is playing. After you get through that the movie takes off. Watching all the action and how it plays out will bring you on the edge of your seat. It makes you think how is this man doing all of this. Basically Denzel is playing this bad ass that everybody is trying to kill. Of course Denzel is a amazing actor and this role brings back a movie he did called Training Day. Besides the movie starting out slow I give it a solid 9. This is a must see action movie.
I really enjoyed the film. No trouble with the pacing because it seemed to help establish Denzel's character. It was showing that he really enjoyed his current life and the people he was helping. The traps at the end were needed because he wanted to gain an edge over the bad guy and maybe trick him into making a mistake. Also helped that the movie was made locally, kinda fun to see local neighborhoods on the big screen.
One of my favorite vigilante movies of all time is Death Sentence, Starring Kevin Bacon. What makes this movie different from most vigilante films, is the main character, Kevin Bacon. He is not your typical Ex-Special Forces, Badass Trained Fighter. He is a family-man, and businessman, with no real combat training, or strategic battlefield planning capabilities, and he flies by the seat of his pants for most of the Film, which really sets it apart from other films like it. It you have not seen this movie, I highly recommend watching it atleast once.
not quite a vigilante movie per se but, the little girl who lives down the lane. stars Jodie foster age 13 filmed just around the same time as taxi driver. she does what she must do to survive. its an older movie but worth the time to watch it. sorry typing one handed the other in a cast regards,
He’s confused and absent from reality, he is a hero in his mind. BUT he did save a girls life and thus he is a hero to me. It’s all about interpretation.
I hope the movie gets oscar nods for its set designs. I also noticed the movie was penned by Richard Wenk, who wrote The Mechanic, that also had a shitload of side character parts...
I'm seeing it tomorrow. I already know it has a Home Alone like scene. I internally said "What are you stepping on?" when you were stomping. I never asked myself what's my favorite vigilante movie that isn't a Batman movie. I'll go with Taken, hopefully Taken 3 will be decent. I like Man on Fire, it had to grow on me.
I def felt the Man on Fire comparisons.. and he is right about the ending sequences of the movie.. I also had flashbacks of Home Alone, but a much more extreme version
Hey Johnny! When you go to the gym, do you have one day where you only do shoulder, one where you only do bicebs+tricept, one where you only do chest, or do you mix up. I need tips! I can clearly see that whatever the fuck you do in the gym, it totally works! Keep the vids raining. Have a good day!
the scenes with the bad acting Ralph, were so unnecessary >.< I mean, I got it in the first 5 mins, Denzel cares for people, I dont need a 10mins training montage and a look into the life of Ralph. Also, the oke doesnt pitch for a job interview, then the next day he is wearing the custom fit uniform. The timing of this movie is shoddy....
My favorite vigilante movie is another Chloe Grace-Moretz film, Kick-Ass. MUCH better than this new Denzel movie, which is super derivative and is largely dull for the first hour.
Hey John, have you seen Gotham the new TV series? If so, can you do a review. I thought it was pretty good, and they seem to be introducing a lot of iconic characters. I'm interested to see where it goes.
Not to be a dick or anything but if I was somebody who hadn't seen this movie yet and I saw this review, I would be really upset because of how much of the movie you gave away. You literally told us about 80% of the important aspects of the movie and I think as a reviewer you should try to keep your audience in the dark as much as possible when reviewing a movie, especially a GOOD movie like this one. Not a bad review, just told me waaay too much.
Nope. Not even slightly similar to drive.. And you also can't compare this to Taxi Driver. I liked your review nevertheless, although I would give the film 5/10 :)
Did he say he liked Olympus has fallen? my older brother and i have argued which was worse, that or white house down. Either way both terrible. That comment has made my pause this video and wonder if i can value the opinion of someone who thinks that movie was good and should i continue to listen to the rest of this drawn out movie review.

even with alot of good vigilante movies....taxi driver is still my fave.
Yeah, as much as I love Batman I would agree.
The Tom Jane Punisher movie. love it, love everything about it.
even the Dolph Lundgren Punisher was better than that
Kal El is that a joke?
Kal El
I agree The Tom Jane Punisher was crap. I hated it. Dolph Lundgren version was so much better.
Hey Johnny O! Nice vid man. Gettin better and better
V for Vendetta will always be my favorite vigilante movie if that one counts.
Léon The Professional is my favorite vigilante movie and my all time favorite movie of all time
Improving every video!!! Happy to see you moving up in the world johnny son of Bonnie!

Awesome review, John!

The Dark Knight is my favorite vigilante movie. And then every other Batman movie lol
ROFL at the drive reinactment! my god that was hilarious w/ that sound clip you used
Harry Brown is a very underrated, gritty film about a vigilante. Not my favourite, but Michael Caine is so badass in it.
If John thinks that Taxi Driver is vigilante badass then he completely missed the point of the movie.
He’s confused and absent from reality, he is a hero in his mind. BUT he did save a girls life and thus he is a hero to me. It’s all about interpretation.
I was saying the same thing about the modern day taxi driver aspect, great review man!
HOLY SHIT YOU'RE WEARING A HOODIE?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I hope the movie gets oscar nods for its set designs. I also noticed the movie was penned by Richard Wenk, who wrote The Mechanic, that also had a shitload of side character parts...

Taken was amazing
Completely agree about the length , took forever to end.
I loved the Equalizer. Just another reason why I really like Denzel Washington as an actor.
John. What did you think of Taken?
The PUNISHER because after seeing it I started reading the comic books now I'm a big fan
The PUNISHER I forgot to which I liked was the 2004 with Thomas Jane and John Travolta
I know its classed as a Comic Book film But The Crow is one on my top list on Vigilante films out there.

Darkman is a badass too

My favorite vigilante movie is Law abiding citizen 2009.
My favorite vigilante movie is another Chloe Grace-Moretz film, Kick-Ass.
MUCH better than this new Denzel movie, which is super derivative and is largely dull for the first hour.
Great review. Might check this one out sometime
Dead man's shoes. Justice doesn't get dished out on the scale of taken or the equaliser but it's close to epic
My favorite is obviously batman cause he's batman that's all that needs to be said
Hey John, have you seen Gotham the new TV series? If so, can you do a review. I thought it was pretty good, and they seem to be introducing a lot of iconic characters. I'm interested to see where it goes.
Falling Down is a great vigilante movie. Even though he specifically says "I am not a vigilante." Oh well, I'm still going to count it.
How did you get the drive jacket? I want one.
Ugh.. a B for badass(:
Love your videos John, made my day better.
John as big of a lover of batman as you claim to be, do you read his comic books often?

Do a review of maze runner please
I really enjoyed this film
Great Review
Chloe seems to love to play either a damaged, depressed or a rebellious teenager type character.
Did he say he liked Olympus has fallen? my older brother and i have argued which was worse, that or white house down. Either way both terrible.
