Awesome video... Keep posting them to help us 👏 As a suggestion for next videos I'll say to you try a rust removal configuration, if it's possible with this kind of fiber laser. Thank you in advance 👍
Fantastic video !! Please keep posting more videos. I like to ask you if possible a Video Tutorial for ID Serial Numbers + Unique QR Code from a Data Base. Line from data base get serials numbers and unique QR codes to print on metal plates. I have seen also there are Rotary disc that might help on the process
Hi, thank you for the video !!! Do you know the high of the laser you have to put for different materials? how do you know if the high position of the laser is correct? or always you have to leave at the same high? thanks, in advance!
Hey Jeffery, Your videos are extremely helpful; Thanks for sharing with us! I have a quick question, I also have a 30W Chinese laser and it been adding random vertical lines to my fills. Have you had an issue with that??
@@vilts I tried at low speed but im still getting gaps and strange vertical lines. I probably should have clarified it only happens when I use my rotary device on tumbler mugs.
@@lukajurac7727 I see. With rotary I don't have experience yet. Mine has interface, but I haven't installed the rotary yet. Does the stepper make strange noises from time to time? If the timing signals are incorrect, then it could maybe skip steps and create this weirdness... But that's just blind guessing from my part.
Hi Mark - I don't have the rotary tool, but I believe I've seen others mention that you should be using splitmark2 for rotary marking to remove lines. Join this facebook group and search 'split' - I think that will get you the information you need. facebook.com/groups/440091022989424/
I used the serial number feature for the first time recently. So much faster and easier! Do you know if there is a way to automatically "Light" the next/upcoming number after each mark?
Great job once again Jeff. I need a favor, I use Corel to remove the background from a pic, change it to b/w etc. when I import it to ezcad, I still get a ghost background. In addition there has to be a rule when setting brightness and contrast for the best results...speed, frequency... any help would be great.
It sounds like you still have a background on your picture. Are you sure it has been completely removed? I'm no expert with raster images so I'd have to play with it to see whats up.
JefferyJ yeah it is removed because before I export it I place a color rectangle behind it. I appreciate your videos and help. Your an excellent instructor!
Great video!! I have a question for you: I have a cylindrical 2” round and 4” tall part. The part has a 3.25” x .25” base that is flush with the bottom. I mark the website on one side, then have to turn the part to mark “made in USA” on the other side. Have you come across a way, other than a rotary table, to mark 2 selections in a stepwise fashion-I.e., select the website and made in USA (or separately) hit the pedal it marks one, rotate the part by hand, hit the pedal and it marks the other selection? I’ve been marking each part 2 separate times with 2 different files (otherwise they have to overlap). I have the part shifted to the upper portion of the marking field because of it’s height, it can’t mark all the way around the part. Thank you for the video, and any insight you are able to provide-AJ
I think I have 3 different ways to do this (assuming I'm correctly understanding your setup). 1- Keep both of your marks in the same file and let them overlap, select the one you want to mark from the object list on the left and hit the foot pedal manually after selecting the correct object. 2) Set up an I/O control to only mark the first selection, wait you to reorient the part and hit the foot pedal again to mark the second selection. 3) Set up the multifilemark feature to use both of your files and use an I/O control to progress between the files.
thank you very much . is there any setting that you done for lighting ? i mean when you hit F1 it shows everything as it should to be but in my laser just show a bounding box around what i want to mark ...i can see them but in another hard way . i really appreciated if you can answer . tnx again .
Depending on your version of ezcad, you can either check the 'show contour' box on the bottom of the screen, or if that's not available, you can go to parameters (f3), other tab, red light pointer, and select 'show contour'.
I tried to send you an email, but your address is no longer good. I really appreciate all your EZCAD2 videos -- I really learn a lot from them. I have a question about serial numbers -- is there a way to link a barcode with the variable S/N text? I have a product that I want to start using my laser to mark the serial number info, but the way I currently do it I have a barcode with the S/N text immediately below. That way the number is both human and machine readable (I scan the barcode to track and record the S/N to the customer account). Is there a way to have the barcode automatically follow the variable text?
Actually I figured it out. If you click the barcode button below the barcode type it brings up a menu and you can check “show text”, which can be configured with font, location, etc as needed.
This video is great, it is exactly what I was searching for. A company wanted to charge me € 16,-- per serial number for 200 parts, which would make a total of € 3.200,--. Because of your videos I will purchase a fiber laser for myself to engrave my parts. Do you have a good source for engraving settings dependent from the different materials and surfaces ? Thank you very much!
€ 16 per serial for 200 parts? That seems very high. If they're just small serials, it shouldn't take you long at all. The settings you use will be a little different from laser to laser depending on the power of your laser source and size of marking field, but as long as you have a sense of how to use the hatching function as well as what frequency is, you'll figure it out quickly. I made a few videos on both these topics.
@@jefferyj Thank you very much for your answer! I have seen your other videos, they are very good, I just thought that you maybe have a list with settings for different materials/surfaces.
What about the engravings on stainless steel? I have the idea that the color is not black or silver, it's kind of brown or gold.. have you tried on stainless steel? I have some pictures as an example from my jewelry business, if you have an email I can show you. ¡Saludos desde Costa Rica!

The filter out number makes perfect sense as it’s a Chinese product. Asians dont like the number 4 to show up in numbers, and some will actually return an item with too many 4s in the serial number. I have had it happen to me, and we now omit repetitive 4s in our serial numbers.
Just got a laser and that was VERY helpful. i hope you do more videos. These tutorials are amazing.

This is great information, I need a guide on how to figure best speed, frequency and power to get the right depth of my serial numbers
Great video! Thank you so much!
Fantastic information. Thank you!
When I light up F1 I only see the envelope box where the mark will be but no the actual content. Is this a setting?

Can you touch on the escape software upgrade?
Can this software increment and limit oddball serial numbers like 111105B7? Say increment the last digit up to "9", then start with 111105C1?
Hey, Jeffery - whenever I use the Array tool, it resizes my text. Any clue how to fix?

Try to play with the cutting speed settings. When I cut too fast, the laser didn't seem to keep up and weird lines and effects appeared.
