Awesome knowledge...love the reminder to history in reference to the constitutional rights we all have but more importantly the civic duty we have as citizens. Our governments serve us, not the opposite, which is the feeling more and more. Love how your educating your son, and I completely agree we are all humans! Another great vid!
This song changed my life. I heard this downtown Windsor on a drinking binge run because I could drink because I had turned 19, which is legal in Canada. Opened my eyes to the true black experience in America and pulled the veil off of my whitewashed education. Actually wrote Chuck D a letter thanking him for helping this younger brother(at the time) who was from the country to look into my history and question everything. Chuck follows me on twitter thanks to the letter I wrote. Thanks Dad for teaching him the RIGHT WAY!
Nice.... I played this for my step son with The Clash's "Gun of Brixton" afterwards during the riots a couple of years ago. He had a similar look to your son's. Thanks for taking the time to teach.
Another excellent video - please keep going! Good choice of song in the context of recent events, and I like the message you're advocating in this video - you're bang on.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that you have your son there, listening to this song so you can explain to him what it's all about. I love that. I wish more white parents would do that with their children. Don't fear us, try to understand us! Please, don't ban our history, learn it.
Maybe teach the little man about Black Panthers movement and all that preceded that against the attrosities from the other side J Edgar Hoover, Agent 800, Nixon's presidency, etc. School nowadays doesn't really teach this stuff.
Here are some more political song of the era for your son to hear about. Various Artists - Self destruction, X-Clan - Heed the word of the brothers & The Wise Guyz - Time for peace. Enjoy
Dont get me started on politics. Ive seen the political tide do a complete 180 since I was young, and everyone has gotten more cynical and insular since then. I can go on and on. Public Enemy was good but I never bought their record. I always loved the Elvis line though. I was too young to inderstand his point and just thought "yea, Elvis sucks" lol. "911 is a joke" was my favorite PE song.
I am White. I serverd for 9 years . I love my country, not my government, there is a Fucking difference. I despise stupidity. Listen. read. Question everything
tom macdonald- american dream is also close to this subject he is one of the new rappers that does not get enough love could you make a video about that ua-cam.com/video/ueyNLoRWdao/v-deo.html
