- Tips and tricks for sneaker-heads to have a better experience wearing their shoes! You can't just take your sneakers out of the box and go.. so here's My Top 5 "Hacks" I've used to make sure my sneakers look and feel the best! Laces, insoles, packaging, all that matters! If you take these extra steps it'll be sure to have your sneaker collection looking top notch when you want to wear a pair. These style tips work with all brands like New Balance, Nike, Adidas and Jordans! More content below!
Here's the list of hacks and that I wish I knew sooner!
1. When it doubt, match the sneaker laces to the tongue of the shoe for a cleaner look
2. Use the laces tips to remove the sizing sneaker on the insole, it'll leave a stain or mark
3 Get wrinkles out of your laces by steaming the lace, don't be lazy!
4. Sizing of Jordans and nike's can be tough, size up a half size for a comfortable fit
5. Put the paper stuffing back into your shoes after wearing, keep them in the box

All solid tips/hacks, and I do every single one of those. Another hack I would add too is to give your shoes a quick wipe down with a wet wipe after ever time you wear your sneakers. I always wipe the leather, plastic and rubber (mid soles and outsoles) a quick wipe each time makes it easier to do after one wear, and extends the time between when you have to do a deep cleaning and also keep deeper stains from sinking into your shoes. Extends the life of your sneakers & keeps em looking fresh.
Bingo! I've been doing this every since I started collecting and it's the easiest preventive way to keep your kicks clean and last longer. Still got shoes 15+ years that look just as good as my newer kicks

What should you wipe them down with just water or lil bit of alcohol?
@@xzerosub-1 I use Clorox whites for any shoe with leather or synthetic leather, and I use it on the foam and rubber midsole and outsoles too. Works great!
If u go up a size and IF it’s roomy, add a more comfy insole from CVS. It’ll take more room and the og insole will remain brand new AND ur J’s will be comfortable
When you say add , you mean on top of , or replace factory insole with the after market ?
Great content as per Eddie. We appreciate you 👊🏻 If you don’t have the paper to put in your shoe then use a pair of balled up socks. Push them down into the toe box. Sometimes the paper isn’t still enough to keep the shoes shape. Big love from the U.K. 🇬🇧 ❤️

One thing I’ve stuck with over the years is cleaning said pair I’ve worn for the day before putting them back .
Remove insole is my go to move when I can't find a size 12 but there's an 11.5 available

Good hacks. And that P-6000 is underrated.
For the paper in the toebox, I have pairs that don't fit in the box, like a lot of that wave of Air Max 90s that came out a couple years back, the volts, slime greens, pink ones etc. For those because I can't put them in the box I use shoe trees. Undoes the absolute crush that was applied to them inbox and means I just leave the paper in the box and don't worry about it. Shoes trees are underrated.
I think the black toes look good with cream colored laces, but that's just my opinion... 🤷

On a few occasions, the left in sticker on the insole has been deal breaker for a pair of worn shoes I was looking to buy. Always take them out before wearing.
Definitely agree with stuffing your sneakers… The Original form holds up wayyyyy longer lol! Looks crispy every time!
Deep clean after every wear it protects your investment and sometimes you sell for way more down the line after getting some good use out of them if you take care of them

These are great tips Eddie, I’m gonna try steaming my laces when they come in raggedy 😂 I also love those Nike solo swoosh sweatshirts. I have a hoodie, a crewneck, and the quarter-zip, they’re amazing quality! And they go on sale often, I try to grab the least popular colorways and they look great!
Can you do a tutorial on how you curve your fitted’s brims like that pls?
I always keep the paper to stick back in the sneakers and for kicks like Air Force 1's that are prone to creasing I use socks that I'm not going to wear again to stuff in the toe box.
Paper also absorbs the sweat
My feet has also gotten wider. My advice is play around with insole swapping or removing them completely. Same thing if a shoe is too big. Add a thicker insole or double up on insoles. I’ve also recently started putting in my nike sb insole in all my jordan 1s for more comfort.

Definitely agreed the laces should match the tongue 99% of the time. 🔥 But especially when it’s a black tongue, that’s a no brainer, that puts any shoe OTT
I always treat my new pairs with shoe-protector spray before wearing them: makes it way easier to clean later on as well as the sneakers getting less easily soaked in rainy weather.

Sit your shoes on top of the box after wearing and let them air out for 30 minutes and then stuff the toes and store back in the box 📦

Yo, an hour with those tight shoes. Man, I have over a dozen pairs in my car just for when I wear new shoes that might get tight. I had the Travis SBs on at work and was in level 10 pain as soon as I showed up. 8+ hours later and I bet you I’ll never do that again. I got pinky toe problems still. 🤣

Sneaker tips for bots
Why do people love Jordan 1s . When you type in Jordan’s they come up . They are the most talked about sneakers ever . It’s all beyond me cause I consider them ugly shoes . Jordan 1s look like they came out in the 50s . I could see the 4s , 12s , 13s , or maybe 11s . I can see them . But ones are ugly shoes .

It’s like matching the sock color with the sock liner if it’s a color one just go with the color that pops out the most of the shoe

A couple others I would recommend is spraying your kicks with some protector as I’ve saved a bunch of mine from spills with it. It makes the clean up and stain removal afterwards that much easier. Also, use a sneaker deodorizer and spray your sneaks after each use and keep em smellin fresh
Fact on all 5 hacks. Im a true 10.75 but always go with an 11
i hate when laces doesn't match with thongue. but rearly is needed. for example Air Max 1 Fare Out - I hate red laces there, so I bought carolina blue laces that somewhat match with denim material and that works best for me.

Any recommendations for a good steamer?
If you wear your shoes and like to display them out on a rack or shelf, spray them down with some shoe deodorizer. You might be nose blind to it but that new person coming into your room won’t be. Spray them down. I use fogger or KIWI. Quick little spritz makes a difference. Any other option is better than nothing.
I keep a little box with my Jason markk solution and brush, shoe deodorizer, and a shoe horn next to my little shoe rack
I like putting the silica bags in my shoes after wearing. helps to keep moisture out and sometimes absorbs the odors

My 3 tips are:
1. Shoe trees instead of paper personally to keep structure. It can get costly, but worth it for sneskers you want to keep long
2. Tea bags work as a solid deoderizer for your sneakers, take some generic lipyon tea bags set em in your shoes for a couple hours to a day and itll take out the stink. Also, leave your shoes outside of the box for a bit after you wear em to dry out the moisture
3. For retro or performance runners that feel loose learn how to tie a runners loop to reduce heel slippage
well og black toes are a white tongue... and you still gotta go black laces. so "match the tongue color to the lace color" doesnt always fit imo.
I put white in my pair for that very reason, plenty of white laces to go around, 85 black toes came with a black tongue as well
@@Eddiewinkicks og black toes are white tongue.. am I wrong? I'm not against white laces in that scenario, to your point. White laces on chicago 1s work well... I agree. But nothing beats og black laces on a white jordan 1 imho.
I change insoles almost on every pair I own and keep them DS, in some shoes I have gel insoles, in others I have lightweight to keep my feet cool

Ikea has cheap shoe trees for those who lose their paper cheap Walmart cotton socks work as well
My method on the inside sticker is one good wear and let my feet heat them up, them peel it out immediately after taking them off. Heats up the glue and makes it easy to take out and it’s early enough that it won’t leave the glue mark.
Risky play! I forget they’re in there sometimes. One too many wears and that thing bonds to the insole 😂
I steam iron laces. Don’t know if that’s overkill let me know.
I’m afraid I’ll hit the lace tip and melt it 😂
