This artist,Kyu Sakamoto, died as a passenger on Japan Airlines Flight 123 in 1985. The pilots tried everything but a sudden loss of hydraulic pressure doomed the plane. An announcement was by the pilot and at that point many of the passengers began writing notes/letters to loved ones. They all knew they were going to die. Ten minutes later the plane went down. Out of 509 passengers, only 4 survived.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG. I always have even as a kid. It always makes me cry.I don't know why. Maybe it has a lot of minor chords in it. The simple Japanese version isstill the best version in my opinion.
Love the song and seeing the rockers dancing reminds me of a fantastic holiday in Japan back in 2019. My son and I came across them by accident outside a park near Shibuya crossing inTokyo and loved their pure enthusiasm 😊
Picked up a small music box in Japan with this song. My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter found the little music and I showed her this video and she danced to it. I think she will grow to like the song as much as grandma.
I Love This Song and video ! I was a young kid when this song was a big hit way back when. Still, I listen to the soothing melody and see the imagery that always makes me feel a little better even when I am down. This song will cheer up anyone. I learned that the words tell about a broken romance, but I prefer to simply apply my own thoughts to the sounds and sights that always delight. Peace on Earth to Everyone I Pray !
I remember this when I was a little kid and always loved it. Years later when I began to play piano very well I ordered the sheet music. I still have it and love it more today than I did 40 yrs ago. Thanks for posting.

My favorite song when I was young. As an adult I was able to visit Japan several times courtesy of the U.S. Navy. A beautiful country, wonderful people and delicious food!!!
This international hit sold over 13 million copies worldwide. Released in 1961 in Japan, then 1963 in the USA. The lyrics tell the story of a man who looks up and whistles while he is walking so that his tears will not fall. The verses of the song describe his memories and feelings. The title "Sukiyaki," used in English-speaking countries, has nothing to do with the lyrics.

For tonight Im all alone
👍🏻
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG. I always have even as a kid. It always makes me cry.I don't know why. Maybe it has a lot of minor chords in it. The simple Japanese version isstill the best version in my opinion.
Auch die Orchesterbegleitung ist wunderschön.
Love the song and seeing the rockers dancing reminds me of a fantastic holiday in Japan back in 2019. My son and I came across them by accident outside a park near Shibuya crossing inTokyo and loved their pure enthusiasm 😊
One of my favorite songs growing up. A true classic! Thanks for posting!
Regards, Dave
Picked up a small music box in Japan with this song. My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter found the little music and I showed her this video and she danced to it. I think she will grow to like the song as much as grandma.
Catchy tune and top notch video to go with it. Great stuff.
One of the most beautiful song and video i have ever seen.
Thanks. Beautifully said.
same to u sir
Beautiful. When I was a kid that was a magical song. Still is .
Beautiful, so very beautiful.

Sou brasileiro entendo um pouquinho da língua japonesa, mas sou doente pelas músicas do Japão

Every time I hear this song it brings me to tears, my Momma would put up the volume to hear it loud. It reminds me of her.😢😢😢
Thank you Jim.
I believe this came out in the 60s when I was a teen. Don't understand a word but I understand the feeling. Loved it then, Love it now.
I remember this when I was a little kid and always loved it. Years later when I began to play piano very well I ordered the sheet music. I still have it and love it more today than I did 40 yrs ago. Thanks for posting.
This brings back many good memories of living in Japan!
Very nice song ! The drummer did great ! I really like the drums in the back ground !

This is one of my very favorite videos on the internet . . . everybody so happy and full of life . . . and beautiful.
GOD Bless the Japanese and us all.
Esta canción la oí en los años 1962 pero no sabía que decía pero la oía 4 o 5 veces al día y me transportaba a otro mundo. Hoy con la traducción me gusta más y tengo 77 años y soy feliz cuando la escucho FELICIDADES
Oh, wow! So wonderful! Beautiful rendition! Lovely video, vtoo. Thank-you..
Came here looking for this wonderful old song that I hadn't heard forever. Just feeling nostalgic and found this. You've just turned it into a little piece of art. Beautiful work! Thank you so much.
Love Japan ❤️🌸🍓🏮I visited Japan once a year since 1989.
My favorite song when I was young. As an adult I was able to visit Japan several times courtesy of the U.S. Navy. A beautiful country, wonderful people and delicious food!!!
I love this Song. And I miss Japan.
Good memories of my time in Japan (Iwakuni, Masawa, Tokyo). Many thanks!
Beautiful, beautiful song. There is no one that can ever duplicate this beautiful memorable song.Beautiful song no one can ever sing like this beautiful man with a beautiful voice.LOVE HIM FOREVER❤️💕❤️❤️❤️🥮💕💕💕❤️💓💋

Not understanding a word, but understanding the emotion and passion fully. Beautiful.
Esse é um povo que conheceu a PAZ, através da guerra. É um povo admirável. Parabéns à todo povo Japonês.
I found out about this song watching the plane crash simulation it was the background the music for the video and at first I thought it was inappropriate but after re watching three times I fell in love with it then I looked up the singer and realized he died in the crash it brought tears to my eyes and now this song makes me cry.
Great song, and i have been to Japan lovely people, this is a lovely video.
+bmwnasher Had forgotten about this great song, I'm about to read "The Rape of Nanking" ;
nh6central Don`t read that they have moved on, ps don`t mention Enola Gay and Bockscar here.
I lived there for 3 years, from 1975 to 1978. In my 20's. I was supposed to be there for a one year tour of duty in The Marines. I kept extending my time and even re-enlisted to stay longer. I always thought that I would make it back there. sigh......
Only a week and a half to go :o
nh6central Indeed there is, im confident the vote out will win, then we can set about taking the colonies back, and the Empire will flourish once again. :/
