Rava Fish Fry is an easy fish fry recipe. The fish is crispy from the exterior and succulent from within. So watch & learn how to make Rava Fish Fry with Chef Sneha Nair only on Get Curried.
Rava Fish Fry Ingredients:
4 - 5 pieces of king fish (Surmai )
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
½ tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp of chilli powder
salt to taste
2 - 3 tbsp tamarind water
1 cup semolina
coconut oil for shallow frying
Method:
Prepare a masala by mixing together ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt & tamarind water (by adding tamarind to hot water).
In a frying pan heat some coconut oil and leave it on a low flame.
Coat the fish with the prepared masala and then cover it with rava/semolina.
Place the fish slices in the frying pan.
Fry them for 5 to 7 mins in low flame, until they are cooked properly from both the sides.
Once the fish is cooked take it off the gas and the dish is ready to be served!

Lovde the way you explained the recipe, I am from kerala but my husband is Mangalorean, hope he likes this, the low flame tip is so key to this, i used to always burn my rava when I used to try this method earlier.

Wouldn't you the leave the fish with marination for some time???? Frying the fish immediately after applying the masala, the fish would not hold on to the flavours of the masala nor the salt

Mam we can use any type of fish
can we use regular refined or mustard oil instead of coconut oil? what difference would it make to the taste of the dish? would it be good or bad?
Mustard oil is good. Gives a lot of flavour. But make sure to heat it and let it smoke before you fry the fish otherwise you will end up with a raw and bad mustard taste.

Would taste even better if you marinated it for 10 to 20mins.. then fry it with rice flour or rawa and rice flour mixture..

It sounds good the recipe. If cauliflower big pieces are used in similar way they are not fried fish. I will cook them in this way. Heat some oil. Add cream from milk at home and cut vegetable. Seasoning is salt and coriander powder. After gets cooked saute it unroasted.
