For sure! He must of relied a lot on chess books and a physical board to aid his analysis like the old masters. That means he would have to sit there and sort out any questions completely on his own. I imagine calculations skills improve a lot with this method. Not easy to do though.
Yesssss!❤ She has something very few women exhibit nowadays: class! Plus her vast knowledge of chess makes always for interesting and amusing interviews😂
Judith Polgar was one of the first women competitors who started competing with men in various tournaments. The Polgar family had more than one chess champion with her sisters also playing very well. She speaks very well and her words are pearls of wisdom for chess players, chess fans and chess aficionados. We all love listening to her views any day.
She is the first and only woman to truly compete with men. By which I mean actually being a threat. And it all stems from the fact that she refused to play women only events. Iron sharpens iron. Steel sharpens steel.
She would have been world champion if she hadn't been born as a girl! There are slight differences in male and female brains. And as in almost all highly competitive sports these differences turn out to disadvantage women. Even in brain sports.
I am an Indian. I want Gukesh to win. But I also dont want Ding to lose. India and Chiana are rivals many ways, had it been any other Chinese player, I would not have added my second sentence in this comment. Ding is so different ❤ I hope he comes back to his true form, and then there will be a good battle between those two. Whoever wins, thats okay. Moreover, my thoughts and prayers for his overall mental health, I really really hope, he can overcome all the difficulties he is facing, on the board or off the board.
Oh miss Polgar, you broke my heart many moons ago when you got married. Your autographed copy of How I beat Fischer’s record’ stands proud on my shelf and my ‘J. Polgar 91’ chess jersey must get autographed before I die. Now come to Los Angeles and give a simul! ❤ We love you , best wishes and blessings for your two sons
I love how the younger generation is finding value in studying chess without chess engines like the old masters. Goes to show the old masters must have been a lot stronger than we often give them credit for.
Ms. Polgar demonstrates yet again what a truly amazing chess force she is. Such feats as she attained over the board are matched in supremacy not only by the perspicacity she displays in her commentary on it, but also of the person who adorns its ambit. Surely one of the brightest stars to ever shine in the canopy of chess wonders!
Very important remarks not about playing but about training styles (trainers caring about the man not only about the player, role of books, real board ...)
BRAVO, JUDITH for your very spot on insight of Modern Chess. Your answers show interesting intelligent vision one only can achieve through experience and love of the sport. We all thank you with heart felt respect 🏆💐🏆💐
It is all about population size and participating number. A country with 10 times more people will have 10 times more talents, IF the participation rate in any game or sport or anything is the same. Of course there are also genetics involved. But that's another issue.
As a indian we want Gukesh win but anything will be happen main thing are concentration and patience in chess and one or two wrong move in chess whole game is change. God bless Gukesh all the best.
Actually in China nowadays, Go is the most predominately popular intellectual game. While XiangQi, referred as Chinese Chess by Polgar, has been suffering many troubles in the recent decades to catch up.
I think Kasparov said he was not aware of the intense pressure that occurs in a Championship Match and that affected him deeply in his first several games in his first match in 1984 against Karpov, who had already experience in intense matches at the highest level. This may happen to Gukesh too.
Livin in China I only see people playing Xiang Qi (chinese chess) and Go (Wei qi). quite amazing to see they still can.bring top players despite chess bein not that popular there.
O.T. I am just a beginner so my comment is referred to that level. When I play online with indian players, I noticed something quite strange. They ask for a draw when they are loosing. Did that happen to anyone else? It happens to me only with indians. For other nationalities, when somebody asks for a draw, it's because it is a draw situation. Once it happened one of this "indian draws", i accepted the draw even if i was winning; later the opponent asked for another match. During this second match I was winning again, but anyway somebody interrupted and this time I had to quit the match. So I asked for draw to my indian opponent and explained why, but... (s)he refused. I think many of them miss some fair-play. Not all, but statistically, this happened a few time and only with indians...
What a great woman and chess legend! Very relateble statements! The only question is about Ding's mental situation and his dedication. I doubt that Ding can win and not sure if it is a good decision for his mental health to compete and maybe get demolished permanently! A little like the "boxing event" between Tyson and Paul.
Both players are somple like vishy , but gukesh is too young during last 1 1/2 years of his play he is absolitley matured so it is not possible to defeat him easily . Ding is 32 years 14 years difference is a huge difference if gukesh srikes early it is one sided match if 4 or 5 games drawn it is also one sided , if ding strikes early it is unpredictable.
how can they ask judit about gukesh being too young. That is irrelevant to her. I guess they forgot judit was still 16 when she beat world champions like kasparov and spassky.😂 And for the record judit was considered and still the strongest 12 year old player in the history of chess....ranked 55th world at 12 years old.
Not really. The moves actually played (once preparation ends) are not stronger than they used to be. Just look at the last two world championship matches. The level certainly wasn't higher than in previous times (for example Carlsen-Anand or Karpov-Kasparov).
Are they not doing the broadcast delay? There will be move prompting telepathically at right times, if not by more sure shot means. The results of world blitz and rapid when there was a delay had at least ensured a bit lower of this prompting and hence the results. Can classical games be played fairly anymore? or just move to rapid & blitz with broadcast delay from next championship?
Chess has changed a lot since its inception, One day will come, when no board will be required to play chess. This comment will be viral in those times as prophecy.
Not cultural though. In China, like she said, it's qiang qi and wei qi. FIDE only worsened it by encouraging conspiracy theories (no facts) and placing travel/ competitions bans on China Chinese players. Racist but... meh, as long as we are rich, I doubt most Chinese care.
Nope, that's not always true. Otherwise, we'd have many football prodigies from India and China. We do have one of the GOATs of Football from India but statistically, we should have more.
Chess is really unpopular in China. Unless you are a chess fan, you'd hardly hear any media coverage about him domestically. Most of his pressure is self inflicted as a competitor.
In chess you need not require physical strength it is not like when Serena Williams lost to 100 ranked player in tennis which requires physical strength.
@@AnupamKumar-yq9jjthe worst thing that has happened to chess recently is the rise of the silly Indian gloryhunter fanboys like you who know nothing about chess who has no respect but love to flood the comment sections with their stupidity.
