Wow. Placing the MacBook Pro was pure courage. Because of this, I'm sold. Cheers mate, as not a lot of videos in UA-cam do this. I just placed an order. :)
Nice review. Looking for a smaller bag for traveling were I don't need to take much stuff with me or if I do, I can roll everything and stuff it in the bag. And, I don't have to worry about weather.
I bought the Kaipak 38 after your review and now contemplating the Keb 52 as well. I might need to add this to my collection... when will Fjällräven stop sucking me in 😂 Your reviews are great and I've ended up getting a few things you've suggested because of them.
Mr Beans! I’m glad to hear to hear that, as long as you have use for those things! My idea is simply to show you guys how things really are and give me two cents about them! Thanks for watching!
Hiya! Thank you for this really comprehensive review! I was wondering if the bag could be drawn in much more by the side straps to look less bulky? I am ultimately deciding between this and the much "flatter" looking Ortlieb commuter daypack...
Great review! You've got some courage, betting your Mac like that!!! - What do you think about the shoulder straps -> Enough padding if the bag gets a lot of weight in? (They seem thick)
I haha, thanks Tiago! A part of me wanted that computer to break, we’re not getting a long too well.. the shoulder straps are good, they will be good for as much weight as you can possibly put in the bag at least! Thanks for watching!
Hi ted. Am just got the ulvo 23....but it still poor when tested during heavy rain as water still sipped through. I should get ulvo 23 rolltop instead i guess
Nice bag! Courageous to bet your laptop on the waterproofness! How does bergshell relate to ecoshell? Does it allow for a hydration blatter? This might actually replace my old and worn down small Low Alpine backpack! Thanks!
haha, yeah.. I don't like my computer too much at the moment so I was hoping that it would break.. but no.. :P id say that the bergshell is more durable, that's why you find it on backpacks and such at the moment.. I hope they'll do something that we can wear.. :)
I just did the same waterproof test on my Kanken No2 which uses their G-1000 fabric and wax. They said its the most water resistant Kanken yet. i dipped it and water totally got through. Luckily I filled it with toilet paper (to see how wet it got) instead of a laptop! so it seems among Fjallraven's products.. Ulvo is indeed the most water proof!
Hello Ted! I hope you re doing fine! (Sorry if this is a bit unrelated to the video)This daypack looks awesome but I cannot find it anywhere. Maybe it was discontinued by the company? Anyhow, do you have any idea where and if I can find it?
@@TedWeirum I live in Denmark! I have looked both in online and physical stores but i couldn't find it... Sorry for asking, but do you have any ideas on where to look?
I’d say so, I mean you don’t need to roll it completely if it’s a sunny day then there’s plenty of room.. come to think of it I think I managed to bike home with a 3 person tent tucked inside it once with the roll too open :)
you can adjust the back a bit by the number of times you roll it, of course it depends on what thing you pack but I think you'll do just fine! :) let me know if you get it and how it fits! :)
Great video, I saw that some people find the shoulder straps a little too close together, do you find it sits comfortably? If you don't mind me asking, around how tall are you?
I know, the photo insert would probably fit, I tend to want to have my camera ready to all the tine so having it packed in and with a lens cover is definitely a smarter thing but it will take too much time to get everything going If you need to move fast. I usually carry my camera in my hand when I’m out and about anyways so it’s not that big of a problem! Good point though! Thanks for watching!
The main is a roll top and then on the side where you got the bottle holder there’s a small one for keys and stuff, on the inside there’s also a small zip compartment with mesh, I believe it’s shown in this video :)
Hi, Ted, I wanted to know if you thought this would be suitable for a fullframe mirrorless camera, and I'm also curious about what ICU you use. Thank you!
Hey! I would go with a kånken 15” laptop backpack instead and to that i would get the photo insert that Fjallraven offers, that and maybe a raincover. Then you would be all set, I will make a video on that soon so you can check it out! :)
@@TedWeirum Thank you for your reply Ted. As someone who uses moutainineering backpacks, mainly Arc'teryx, I'm very underwhelmed with the quality vs. price of camera bags. I look forward to your video!
Hi Ted, how is the general size/volume of the 23 rolltop? Trying to decide to buy the 23 or 30. Wanting to get the Red Gold colour! Thanks from Aalborg - DK
Hey brother! I think it’s good, if you fill it up you don’t always have to roll it 3-4 times to close it so you could get a little extra space there, for day to day things it’s been big enough for me!
About the volume: 25x43x12 cm is roughly 13 liters and I wonder how Fjällräven gets it calculated to 23. Do you have any idea? (Made a similar experience with the Bergtagen 38 which is very clearly below 38 liters.)
I have a roll top bag (wandrd 21) and I think the accessibility of roll tops is not as good as zippered bags. It makes a long tube and searching at the bottom is not as easy. Also opening and closing a roll top takes a bit more time and a bit cumbersome e.g. when you are in a crowded place like a subway. But roll tops have better water resistance and some flexibility on the volume you can fit (if weather allows). I take a zippered bag for everyday in town and the roll top for outdoors / really bad weather (I have my camera gear in that bag). Just purchased the zippered ulvö 23 for work/edc
Nice review! And rather courage bet! =) I'm going to buy this bag, but hesitating on one moment: is there enough space for gym stuff (boots, towel, smth for change)? Do you feel comfortable with rolltop version?

Very good excellent review. Loved how you dipped it into the water
Thanks brother! I would want to see it myself so that’s why I dipped it! :)
I have the same bag, using it in NW (Vancouver, BC). The rain did not get in my stuff, and it is worth buying for daily usage.

Keb eco shell!
Unless you mean the Nike jacket! ;)
fantastic! looks nice

Bold move my friend. Very bold. Was that a one take or a two take scene?
It’s a one take scene the whole thing just because I don’t want anyone to doubt it! It isn’t really a bold move, I just don’t like my computer! 😂😂

Interesting, not sure how they do the exact measurements, I’ll see if I can ask the next time I get the chance!
I’m still wondering about this topic. I dig the bag but on paper seems smaller than a Kånken 15. Is it actually 23l?
It is, it’s a bit taller than kånken, the recommendation is to roll the top three times. There you’ll have the 23L
Is the laptop sleeve suspended?
there's no strap going across, there's not a lot of room for the laptop to move once the roll top is rolled down :)
