    Hi Sara! Meeting you at Go Wild was a top highlight for me! 🥰 And I agree with your 'needs improvements' of the table selections. I picked an amazing table in 2018 because I was a volunteer. However this year, I was one of the first in line and sat at a table that was a little under whelming compared to others. I think the organization should have us choose tables based on picking a number or something. Because the conference is only going to get bigger. (There's more to it also like some volunteers saving seats which is a no-no.) overall, I had an amazing time and look forward to next year!

    Hey Sarra.
    Thanks for the review. Great haul!
    As to no food, yeah not good for those of us with insulin issues. I think I'd have ditched the conference for country fried steak at the Rodeo bar in the Adolphus. LOL.
    I'm not a crowd person. so as much as I'd love to attend a Go Wild, I'd not be comfortable in a massive crowd, though I do miss RT. I got to attend one - the last year when it was in Dallas.
    Seems like the money those companies put into swag, they could have made sure personal needs were met better. I know a lot of people are all about the swag but if you're miserable, or at the very least uncomfortable, does it matter.
    Glad you had a good time. Please be safe!

    The table situation is why I wouldn't go to this event. It should be pre-assigned by random lottery AND the table value should be capped. It's ridiculous that some people get hundreds of dollars of useful goods while other get, let's be honest here, a bunch of junk.

    • @SaraLea
      @SaraLea 4 місяці тому

      I haven’t seen any hauls where anyone got a bunch of junk, but I do think “useful goods” is subjective…

    • @CarysGM
      @CarysGM 4 місяці тому

      @@SaraLea Pretty sure what this lady got falls under the junk category.

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  4 місяці тому

      "this lady" 😂😭 I mean the tables being unevenly distributed is definitely an issue for sure. But it was still worth it overall for me. I don't consider what I got junk personally, but there were other tables open and the option to volunteer or go earlier to wait in line. But yes, it's both fun and a down side of the whole thing

    What is the cost to go to Go Wild?

    • @liisaking1247
      @liisaking1247 4 місяці тому +3

      I know Sarra said maybe $1k or $1500 but I googled and saw that one person blogged about all the various costs and her spending totaled US$4700 (including about $1800 just for the hotel, $500+ for Ubers, over $800 for the event registration itself, transportation there, etc)! That would be over CAD$6500, plus I'd be traveling farther than the blogger did, so probably about $7k! I love all the swag people got and I used to go to SF/Fantasy conventions (more than 20 years ago now, as I have a 21 yo) once or twice a year but, honestly, I could buy a ton of planner stuff online for even a third of that money! And I never spent more than $1k to go to cons, even as far away as Baltimore (I'm on the West Coast). To some extent, it would depend on where it's held next year, right? I mean, if it was in Seattle, I could probably do it. But not if I had to fly cross-country.

    • @lindaholbrook7447
      @lindaholbrook7447 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for the info. I’d love to go next year but $$$ is an issue. I’d love to meet new people and and bonus would be to possibly meet Sarra!! I live in NH so a west coast event could be costly unless it was like in Palm Springs where I have a friend living nearby who I could tack on a visit with! Bonus 😊❤ Did they announce where it’ll be next year or when do they do that?

    • @liisaking1247
      @liisaking1247 4 місяці тому +1

      I went to their website last week and they didn’t have next year’s location up, so I don’t know when they post that information. I did hear that they try to alternate between East and West Coast locations, so next year may be somewhere in the east, which might be easier for you.

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  4 місяці тому

      It's really variable depending on whether you have to fly, if you share a room, etc. The host hotel this time was probably $250+ a night if you stay by yourself but I know people who had 4 to a room. If you are close enough to drive that saves a lot. But yeah I think if you have to fly and want a private room it's going to be $2500+ minimum.

  • @leslijenkins3661

    I'm surprised that they don't price the registration according to the tables. Like if you're in a VIP tier you get to sit at one of the more well-funded tables. And I say that as someone who would definitely not be able to afford that VIP tier. (Actually, I would name the tiers "Daily planners, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, Five-year Planner) That way it could be more fair and planned out and maybe they could even do secret "lotteries" so that if you paid for a lower tier they could "surprise" a few people with a higher tier seat or something extra, to add some spontaneity to it. But I would have definitely expected food to be available and ample break times to get it and eat. That would be like a work meeting without donuts and muffins. I am currently trying not to give in to the temptation to order another Laurel Denise Planner but your video isn't making that easy. LOL I want all the planner stuff and of course I need a new planner. Although I will say this, as much as I liked EC and adore my Laurel Denise...the one I use the most is my HB90, you really should have been there as a speaker!

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  4 місяці тому +1

  • @meloncitacrafts

    The table choice is one of the reasons why I am hesitant to attend. The price itself is pretty high and like you said, I'd be very grateful with whatever table I am sitting at but maybe a lottery would be helpful? I think the Chicago Planner Conference does it differently where before the conference, you list your top choices of which sponsored table you would like to sit at and they assign a seat to everyone based on those choices. I thought that was a fair way of doing it! Plus no water or coffee or food?? That sounds like the days would be even longer! But thank you for sharing your haul, the memories and friends are truly priceless 🧡

    You're right about the tables. People rush to the tables that are overflowing with swag and those of us at the end of the line get the picked over ones. I sat at an Erin Condren table and it was nice, but the table to our right and left had $$$$ stuff at each seat, which were of course filled by the time I got there. I hate I missed you, I bet we passed each other during the chaos!

    Cute but… So. Much. Plastic. That’s one of the things that bothers me about our stationery hobby. 😟 We’ve all got plastic in our bodies now & it’s so disturbing! I also see the complaint from Go Wild attendees about the tables & food/water issues. With those prices?! Seems an exhausting & expensive conference. Surely they can do better…?

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  4 місяці тому +1

      Overall it was a great experience but just a few things to improve for sure, if they can. There's always logistical things at any conference that could be better, I feel like but I also know it's a ton of work to plan something for 2000 people. And yes it really is so much plastic with everything we buy these days!

    I haven’t been to one yet- but I always thought the same thing about the first people in- and the table choices. When I see the pics of the tables, I always wondered why they didn’t have a set value for everyone. I have heard some smaller shops “team up” to give more value but yea it does seem uneven.

    32:19 They went into your room while you were out? Oh, that would make me very uncomfortable. I'm OK with room services as obviously that's their job, but I don't know who's in there 'dropping off surprise packages' 😅
    Edit; let me clarify. The event itself sound pretty crowded and overwhelming for someone like me who's neurodivergent. So at the end of the day I would likely be exhausted, wanting to go to my room as a place where I can withdraw and rest, only to find someone's been in there while I was out. I wouldn't be able to rest in there.

    There are other conferences that don't do the mad rush. SGS you pick a table and you get the sponsor that you get, no choosing. West Coast Planners - you get to pick your top 3 choices. It's so stressful to do the mad rush, and I"m not a fan of that.
