No, you're not! I was there and it was awesome. And after 10 years, Timo is still one great live singer, he just learned his limits and now doesn't push his voice to the limits
my friend, i listen to stratovarius for 13 years now and saw them live about 20 times. not to mention that i am a musician myself for about 20 years. tolkki is just playing scales that sometimes fit to be the ones he recorded.
TK singing in Episode Album: "thaaaaaaaat's whaaaaat Iiiiii aaaaaaam aaaaasking now" 15 years ago some live concert: "that's whaat I aam aasking now" In this Video and nowadays: "that's what I am asking now"
Guys stop giving Timo shit hes one of the most talented singers of all time, and hes amazing live, and on this song to, maby not this particular performance, but come on? when you sing like that god your voice is bound to go a little flat some nights
I'm a musician as well and I can tell when Tolkki plays something the same way or not. Every time they played speed of light his solo was the same pretty much, same with Kiss Of Judas for just a few examples. I'm not claiming he's perfect, but underrated.
this is the second time i see kotipelto fucking up one of my favorite power metal melodies/phrases of all time, being the one at 1:02 and being the first one i saw him fucking up the chorus of distant skies..
I was just trying to sing some of Stratovarius' high vocal parts and I think the problem is that they are always pitched at the break between high chest voice and low head voice. It is really difficult to switch between them smoothly and still always have power. The voice often cracks if you're not totally on the ball. Unfortunately, IMHO, in this video, Kotipelto is suffering from not making his mind up which notes to sing in head voice and which to sing in chest voice.
How's that wrong? Improvising is a technique used by most guitarists during solos. Everybody from Joe Satriani, Ritchie Blackmore, Jimi Hendrix, Yngwie Malmsteen to Randy Rhoads, Al Di Meola, Steve Vai, and Glenn Tipton all improvise their solos.
@NeonVomit I've seen Matias last year and god the kid is good, can certainly play......Timo Tolkki at his best is out of his league and out od many other guitarist worlwide, this has to be said.
@empeltdenavelina I've seen some live shows where Kotipelto sings even better thank Kiske...unfortunately not everytime. Kiske is a god by the way, i love is Place Vendome albums

@emiblindside Listen carefully... the drummer is not free from mistakes... and Tolkki's solo is just random notes....
Is too bad that Kotiptelto's voice sounds tired. It's the same thing with Kiske, they are getting older and their voices is going with their live. I hope we can enjoy Stratovarius by much more time.
"anybody here wanna hear some fast tracks? This song is a from, i think, Visions album" ...WTF Visions? lol....someone tell to Kolti, this song from Episode album...haha!!!
it is wrong, because tolkki is improvising ANY solo he ever "wrote". he does not play a single note as it should be. i can not take this as "good playing" :)
Kotipelto is realy strugeling, but then again, he started to strugle before Halford, Geof Tate and maby Kiske. I'm not sure about Kiske cause I've heard him lately and he still can do it. Maby sloppy at warming up. ...
Chorus fail :S I love Stratovarius, but my ears and heart hurts when I see how bad they sometimes played these oldies. Kotipelto's voice is about to shatter. And how about TT's and TK's double vocal harmonies - what the fuck seriously? Well this is pretty damn hard song to play though. And they are doing better now again. Respect!
I love the song on the record, a great and catchy power metal-song. One of my favourite songs from Stratovarius. But I can't stand this performance - really, really horrible. Jörg is doing as good as he can, but Kotipelto sings both higher than his voice can and also totally out of step (especially in the end).
@NeonVomit too bad that guitar skill not goes with the same songwriting skill..........don't get me wrong ...i thought polaris was very good work but not even close to the songs that TT wrote for the band...... i would rather listen to rev renaicense and symfonia instead of the new strato cd
Bull. Listen to the solo in "future shock" and "hands of time" and then go flush your head down the toilet for sheer idiocy. Not too mention Tolkki plays his solos pretty much the same way live as on the album at least most of the time.
Oh man... Kotipelto's voice sounds horrible... It's a shame, I have never seen them live, and now that Tolkki has leave, I have less interest in going to a gig of them, I hope it just happened in that concert...
Have to face the fact. They sound just overally sloppy and disinterested, low point of Strato tbh. Only Lauri at Bass and Jens are performing musically well.
I am the only only one who find this a nice and powerful performance?
No, you're not! I was there and it was awesome. And after 10 years, Timo is still one great live singer, he just learned his limits and now doesn't push his voice to the limits
On vocals Timo was very bad that is wja I think! this is one of my favs.... And I love him. But I forgive him this one 🙄
yes
Yes
Timmu Tolky preserve much their voice, this rusults in medium performance, you will be able to notice in 1:36
Kotipelto's face turning red every time when chorus comes lol
my friend, i listen to stratovarius for 13 years now and saw them live about 20 times. not to mention that i am a musician myself for about 20 years.
tolkki is just playing scales that sometimes fit to be the ones he recorded.

15 years ago some live concert: "that's whaat I aam aasking now"

nowadays he still cuts out the words and doesn't even pronounce them completely. something like: "that'- what i am askin- now" (even in low songs)
rockl
the best song , this is the pioner of the power metal style!!
Father time❤❤
Great!
He still have a great voice.
Sublime :P Excelente! sin palabras
Anthem for a distant world !!
very very good ㅠ

geniallllllllllllll

@schieese yep , he's getting much better again ! :)

I think your wrong. The one hand problem is that there is no pause between the verses. Same probleme for iron maiden
1:37 Kotipelto : Where have all the yeeeeeeeeeeeee...... is gone?
The drummer...
Damn, Tolkki is a Guitar Monster
timo was saving power for that AWESOME scream on 4:00. thats why he failed chorus

it's funny how TT has 2 engl special edition amps there and his guitar plugged into the fireball 60 :)
La voz de kotipelto agudicima
@NeonVomit I've seen Matias last year and god the kid is good, can certainly play......Timo Tolkki at his best is out of his league and out od many other guitarist worlwide, this has to be said.
This is a really hard song to play and especially to sing. I think if somebody has ever tried to sing this properly knows what i mean.
@Judezki92 really hurts if u don't prepare for it hurt my throat one day playing it
Did he say this song is from Visions? It's from Episode! What the heck?
@jakobo88
Black Diamond in Wacken 2005 is probably the best Stratovarius live performance ever ;) search for it
1:52 Tolkki: ''please someone kill me now''
@markbrutal Agreed, don't understand why there are so many power metal vocalists who can't sustain light notes. It's not that hard
@empeltdenavelina I've seen some live shows where Kotipelto sings even better thank Kiske...unfortunately not everytime. Kiske is a god by the way, i love is Place Vendome albums
@emiblindside

Gamay !!

I love Strato, but compare this to the Vision years... well
Is too bad that Kotiptelto's voice sounds tired. It's the same thing with Kiske, they are getting older and their voices is going with their live. I hope we can enjoy Stratovarius by much more time.
What are you talking about, you think kiske is getting tired?? Kiske is on a total different lever than Timo
"anybody here wanna hear some fast tracks? This song is a from, i think, Visions album" ...WTF Visions? lol....someone tell to Kolti, this song from Episode album...haha!!!
Jorg is best =)

@Corrosive1 I agree, i was thinking what that fuck is Timo singing???
@mateo2711ify oh really? but every one say he is the best.. very weird
@rikkertje89 hey, remember I said the same long ago.. thats a fact!

the stratovarius fan girls are hot!
lol faltou voz no kotipelto.... 1:39 a 1:42

@awarcry seems like it...they all got that kind of "what the fuck are we doing" face.
Yeah! and he had to fix the TK mistakes twice!
Chorus fail?..pfft hardly.. apparently, you're forgetting Stratovarius' ability to pull progression out of nothing...
wwwooowww TK fuck the chorus two times! But funny! Cool singer!
Kotipelto shucks...
Cuando aún Stratovarius valía la pena
No tolkki no Stratovarius
Like: Stratovarius tolkki
Comenta: stratovarius Johansson
4:14 wtf ?? xD
mistakes came from kotipelto only
Kotipelto perdido en la cancion xD
Oh lord..... wtf with Kotipelto and the Drummer... And Tolkki...
