I think they really did love each other. Beyond “first love” they seem like soul mates. I reckon Nina expected Ian to wait and I think Ian thought Nina would give him what he wanted. So they both ended things mutually but quickly ... then Ian got a bit desperate cause he just wanted a family so he did with Nikki cause obv she was available. I’m sure they love each other but not in the way he loved Nina. I think he settled for Nikki because he couldn’t get Nina ...
That’s the truth, but I feel like he doesn’t want to tell himself that otherwise he’d feel guilty. But you can see how much they loved each other.

He just doesn’t seem so In love with Nikki like Paul Wesley is with his wife and other people are with their partners. He only posts her on mother days or Valentine’s Day that’s it

@@peggyclaes9041 idk why people keep saying stuff like this. he’s over ten years older than her and their relationship ended because they were in different stages of life. she wanted to focus on her career (rightfully so, she was in her twenties), while he wanted to start a family because he was in his thirties. also, it’s easy to ship people together after watching them in a show or seeing the front they put on for cameras but in reality nobody in our position knows what the relationship was really like. also, he’s doing great with nikki and the family they started is beautiful. yes, I like do when he was with nina too but im glad that he’s happy now and nina is happy with her boyfriend too

Sometimes actors start to feel the way their characters feel, especially younger actors in long term roles. Ian and Nina were in roles where their characters had a passionate all-consuming love. Maybe a little of that rubbed off on their IRL relationship. He certainly seemed more playful with Nina than he does with his wife. Perhaps he just has a more mature relationship with her than he did with Nina.

I quickly need to add that there was a clear 10 year age gap. This is beyond crucial for multiple reasons which i wont get in to. One of those was Nina being in her early 20's and had only begun to flap her wings so to speak. I cant speak on personal issues or differences of opinion which im sure there were plenty. I can say that she had her 20's ahead of her and a lot left to explore. Despite most believing this isnt necessarily true, the reality is that it is. I could write a legitimate essay on this topic and its surrounding variables.
