Your reaction is why God said let there be light. I can tell your heart is that flicker that turned into a flame. Hope your life is as beautiful as you are.
Brings back so many GREAT memories of my childhood. My mom and sister playing this song in our house🥰🥹 The 70’s 80’s songs were AMAZING💯 Wish that time could go back to those days😔
Beautiful song, beautifully sung. Those of us that grew up in the 70s were musically spoiled as songs like this were taken for granted. These artists set the bar very high for both composition and performance.
Yeah, when a 'normal' day is listening on the radio to the magic some like Angela are just discovering, you can easily underappreciate it. Even the music variations going into the 80's seemed at least somewhat organic and linear at the time. But I think looking back, the 50's and 60's innovation bled perfectly into the masterful 70's, where music fully peaked.
You have discovered one of the hidden gems of the 1970’s. This song was written as a rockabilly tune by Bob Montgomery, and was recorded by several artists, from country to pop to R&B. Even the great Etta James! But nobody, and I mean NOBODY can touch Dorothy Moore’s version. It’s a classic! Your reaction, as usual, is priceless. Such a great and timeless song! 😢
I remember hearing this song on the radio when it came out. I was about 13. It was amazing then and it is still amazing now. One of the greatest singles of the 70s.
Every time I hear that song it makes me pay attention with every fiber of my body, it is sung and played so beautifully and the lyrics are awesome. I mean nobody can do the song the way Dorothy sang it, it is still to this day my favorite song along with Woman to Woman, those two songs are absolute classics in every sense of the word. Soul at its best.
Sis, it was the loss of my mother and childhood. It takes me back home, my grandparents, good times. Dorothy Moore is one of the soul legends from down south. Check out I Believe You and Funny How Time Slips Away by her. She is a soul survivor. Happy listening!
I’m glad you use the term back up singers. For some reason a lot of these young reactors who are not used to old-school music refers to the singers as backing vocals which drives me nuts. It’s nice seeing a young person using the correct terminology.
OMG this is the first time I've heard this song I can stop playing I lost some one I love 💕 so much I think of him every time of the day I will never forget him he died 3 years ago miss D Moore song is so true my life never the same her voice I love it so much best singer just like David ruffin ✌️👍👍👍❤️🍊🍊😄😁😁
From the first time I heard this song on the radio back when I was 19 years old, and even still today at 65 years old my eyes leak and my heart aches for her. Stay safe and take care.
This is when all genres of music were responsible respectful and so beautiful.WE had it all all the way up to 1999. Then it was few and far between for the best singers say nothing about the best songs. We had it all and we could tell the singers apart and make it tell who they were by the second or third note of the introduction. We had good taste.
Before I was born when my dad had done some wrong to my mom and she was feeling alone, I am told she played this song over and over and over. It speaks to the hurt of missing some loved person so beautifully.
This song reminds me of my freshman year in college when I was 18. Now a grandfather at the age of 64 I'm about to watch one of my grandkids head off to that very same college. My god where did my youth go.
She got to you, and left you speechless! This how oldshool soul artists sang back in the day. I remember seeing her live singing this song and there wasn't a dry eye in the building. The audience wanted her to sing it twice. Dorothy sang from her heart and soul that's why she old. School soul.
Thank you for sharing and reacting to this beautiful song. It brings back memories of my mom listening to this song on weekends as we cleaned. RIP mom. It's beautiful watching a younger generation appreciating the pre-2k music. God Bless.
That was a Hit back in the Day. It’s such a beautiful song. I always loved this song. It first came out when I was dating my husband. I use to sing it to him with serious emotions. He would just blush. Everytime I hear Misty Blue it takes me back to those special moments.
Another song I've not heard in ages. I easily remember in 1976 when she came out with this song - everyone loved it. And, to this day, we still do. So glad that you had the opportunity to hear Dorothy. She's a treasure.
I like how back then they were able to express genuine sadness in songs. Today, especially with female artists it seems, any breakup songs are driven by anger. I find the lack of anger to be refreshing. A song with a similar vocal style that I love is a duet from Jerry Butler and Brenda Lee Eager "Ain't Understanding Mellow" from 1972.
I like your intro A Taste Of Honey, Boogie Oogie Oogie! Misty Blue is an off the charts, meaningful and profound song! Where did all the good times go?
Blue Magic - Sideshow is a beautiful song unique sounding voice. ❤️ Similar sound Chi-lites - " Time for Love " also Stylistics - " Betcha by Golly Wow " all 3 acts have unique falsetto voiced frontmen ❤️❤️❤️
Now listen young lady you are not supposed to let these heartbreak songs get to you.Actually at 62 I'm not supposed to get torn up lol. i can tell you she is from Jackson Mississippi. Being from Memphis I am partial to the voices of these areas like Al Green, Tina Turner,Elvis,Morgan Freeman.thank you for for showing emotion but don't cry to much
This is why your channel is compelling. You link the power of usually great music to real life. The lyrics, the beat, the voices - you absorb them and convert them into showing your emotions and interpreting what it all means to you in a genuine way. It’s not just about the music, although that is clearly the most important thing. Cheers, Angela.
Beautiful words and gorgeous lady delivering them with such feeling that you get wrapped up in this performance !Lol Loved Loved Loved it ! Thank you !
1976 was the beginning of the Disco Era. I don't remember hearing this song but it sounded familiar and found out it had been recorded by other artists before she did. The beginning of the song reminds me of the song Shining Star by the Manhattans released in 1980. I thought that song was older than 1980.
Your reaction was absolutely amazing, so accurate. Ditto to everything you said, Ashley. That song is beautiful. It got me and still gets me. So many heart breaks.
One of my all time favorite songs. Anytime that I need a good cry I listen to this song. You should also listen to her version of He Thinks I Still Care, a Willie Nelson song. It's equally as heart wrenching.
Music is made to be felt, ...not listened to. What a meaningful, heartfelt reaction. This is what a listening experience should do to a person. Transport them. 2 suggestions (since you asked for them!): Dorothy Moore..."With Pen In Hand" Randy Crawford..."Unwounded" And...you've got a new subscriber! 🤗
It's extremely difficult not to be moved by this song her voice and the melody
This young woman gets it! You've nailed it one 100 percent
Only in the70,s sadly never to be repeated
Your reaction is why God said let there be light. I can tell your heart is that flicker that turned into a flame. Hope your life is as beautiful as you are.
Brings back so many GREAT memories of my childhood. My mom and sister playing this song in our house🥰🥹 The 70’s 80’s songs were AMAZING💯 Wish that time could go back to those days😔
This song is definitely heart wrenching. I love it for a whole different reason than the intentional message.
Beautiful song, beautifully sung. Those of us that grew up in the 70s were musically spoiled as songs like this were taken for granted. These artists set the bar very high for both composition and performance.

Yes is it is so true, we were spoiled, we didn't realize we were living in a golden age of music.
We people born in the 60s were privileged to be able to enjoy music of this calibre. 💕💕
@@impudentdomain Yes. I certainly didn’t appreciate this in 76, but now I think it’s one of the best pieces of music I’ve ever heard 🙏
The best decade - soft rock, R&B soul, Disco
This is a childhood favorite. It takes me there everytime. So many memories.
Your are a wonderful young lady honey, you have a wonderful heart, lift your head high, and walk straight ahead !!, GOD Bless !!
Classic soul at its finest ✌🏾
One of the best songs ever!
My favourite version of this classic song. Wonderful arrangement and beautifully sung by Dorothy.
And you got me Angela!
Ah!, you found Dorothy, wish i could give a million thumbs up!!
This is one of the most beautiful songs of the era..Nobody sang it like Dorothy..Mesmerizing...

I absolutely adore this song and never thought it could be bettered until i heard David McAlmont sing it ***swoons** ❤❤
I've loved this song forever!, and I'm 74.

Big one.. Great song
Bit of a 60s doo wop throwback..
Back in the sixty and seventy man it was great to fall in love and comforting when you broke up.
The greater the love, the greater is feeling of loss of that love. To turn such hurt into this beautiful song, is real soul and heart.
Your reaction is worth listening to the song several times. I can tell you prepared yourself for this song. Her voice cuts to the bone and soul.
I’m glad you use the term back up singers. For some reason a lot of these young reactors who are not used to old-school music refers to the singers as backing vocals which drives me nuts.

Thanks for your sentiments what a great reaction, fantastic!
love this song

I remember as a little kid them playing this at the Elks home in Newark on Clinton Ave🎼
Omg this brings back memories. Such a talented woman. Your right a true relationship that breaks up is like a death in the family.
My brother plays guitar on this album. Dino Z
Great lady great album
Yes soul with a 50s, 60s touch, but with a full flavor of a 70s song. A masterpiece. 😍
She got us ALL way back when💜 Priceless to see your reaction😁👍
From the first time I heard this song on the radio back when I was 19 years old, and even still today at 65 years old my eyes leak and my heart aches for her. Stay safe and take care.
This is absolute GOLD DUST what a singer
Back when men and women could sing…..70’s had some amazing music! ❤️🙏🏻
Men and women can still sing beautifully. You just have to keep your heart open and not let it harden as you get older.
@@bsharp6856with enhancements yes, not naturally like in the past
70 's was the musical era and still is☝️

This is one of my all time favorite songs! My father used to play this song all the time and it would get to me even as a kid.
I’ve been listening to this since it came out and uh, it’s so beautiful and I know and feel each note and she just does it so beautifully.
I danced to this song many times back in the 1970's, perfect slow dancing song.
This song is so damn good. I love her

Absolutely one of my all time favorites.
She recorded that song in Jackson Mississippi Beautiful song ❤️
A poetic song with so much soul
Always loved her soul in this song 🎵
Incredible song. It's really a throwback to the '50s or early '60s, but there was some nostalgia for that sound in the mid and late '70s.
I believe this was originally a country song.
Now, this is good. Love it and remember when it first came out. I have the single.
Oh what an incredible voice, such a gift. It was a treat just to hear her sing !
Loved this song n having to slow dance to it, in the '70's.
So beautiful, gets to heart and soul,I think it was originally made by Etta james
Written by Bob Montgomery who played in the 1st group of the legendary Buddy Holly
You are killin me lady! This is my era...Another great song! keep em comin!
Class ,and they never had to resort to the crude stuff of today ,just great songs and great voices.
This always been one of my favored songs takes me back in time ❤❤
A sizzling piece of heartache soul.

Absolutely one of my favourite songs. Fantastic request. Thank you.
Still a fantastic song. And Dorothy sings the hell out of it.
What a voice!
Great singer and song. I haven't heard this song in years.
I like her, she sings her feeling and I think is really great , even though the song is sad.
Such a beautiful voice.

Dorthy said she did this in one take. And it set on the shelf or two years before it was released.
I love you energy and your channel you can see your a real music lover you know great music 😊
