Just a great guy, a great musician, a grounded man that has not let fame screw his brain, like the fall of countless others... it's not just his superb music, but how he represents himself, shares his world and relates to others without the need to be ego-supreme. I have so much respect for this guy. Damn, I'd love to have a coffee with him...wouldn't we all?

What makes Mark Knopfler more amazing today than he was back in our day is his consistency. He hasn't changed his style or even his voice in over 40 years. His guitar playing remains consistent. He's been consistently unique since I first heard "Sultans Of Swing" when it first played on the radio, I was only 11 then, but it was one of my favorite songs that year and he has amazed me with every album. But with that said, Making Movies remains my favorite album of his.

Making Movies is the best DS album. Get Lucky and Sailing to Philadelphia are my favorite MK albums. All together, I'm with you Making Movies was the one that showed just what he could do. I saw him in Dallas 1980, in a very small place for Making Movies tour. I sat at a table 5 ft from MK. What a show. But I have seen 11 or 12 others. All great,

What I love about Mark's songs is that many of them get to your emotions in one way or another. Whether it's the pain and regret of a lost love brought to mind by Romeo and Juliet, or the peace of Why Worry, the uplifting nature of Love Over Gold, the sadness of Brothers in Arms or the sweet sorrow of If This Is Goodbye, I'm sure many of us have Knofler songs that have special meaning to us, and I hope this new album adds more entries to our "Best Songs" playlists. I was at the Dire Straits concert at Wembley Arena in 1985 - one of the best I've ever been too - and the music Mark was producing then was magical, and it's still as magical today.

What a treasure this man is. I'm 66. Been a pro musician for almost 50 years. I am in total awe of Mark. A legend who truly deserves the love and respect of his fans. I love reading all the comments from his international fans. Gotta also love Glen Worf his incredible bass player!

I saw him live in 2015 and I'm gonna see him again next year. It was def worth the money it was such an amazing experience the energy in the room just grabbed your soul and gave it a tight hug. Most underrated guitar player. His stories in between songs were awesome too! He def still has the magic and I think he always will. Wish he wasn't getting older so he can always be around. But through his music he always will be.

Beautiful, Mark has a distinctive sound that is timeless..
That trademark lead guitar and stylish vocals unlike anyone! He hits the notes like Stewart Copeland hits his drums!!! There is a surprise factor that keeps a listener glued to his stuff!

What sets him apart is that his songs are about something. Not just "I lost my lover " like today's manufactured stars.
He's in a rare category. Guitarists know who it is after the first two notes. Just brilliant.
Mark is on my top 3 male vocalists of all time. His voice is precious.

Ok Mr. Knopfler, it is incumbent upon you to have one more tour so I can see you before either you or I die. At the very least, please keep cranking out the albums & beautiful stories for us to share, with the God given guitar abilities you have, for as long as the good Lord will allow.
I just read a Mark's interview for the Guitarist magazine when he says something like "playing less notes on a solo usualy says more". Well... He can do anything he wants and feels better about it, but I really miss his mighty solos like in the final part of Planet of New Orleans in live versions. Anyway, is aways good to see Mark making new stuff. Love you Mark.

@@scottrichard5792 No, but it's had to name a favorite. If pushed, I'd say it's the version of "Going Home" that was performed during "A Night in London" (1996). "Long Journey", "You and Your Friend", "We're in Trouble Now", "Romeo and Juliet", "Monteleone" ... and so many more.
