I had the immense pleasure of meeting Telly Savalas in New York City. I was a police officer walking on post along Park Avenue when I heard someone calling me. When I turned around the window of a limousine lowered and much to my surprise it was Telly Savalas. He told me he was trying get crosstown to make a curtain (lingo for trying to get to the theater) and beloved he was going to be late because of the heavy traffic. I did what I could to reassure him he had ample time to make it there considering the time and volume of traffic. He was relieved and said, "Who loves you baby" and then processed to ask me if I could use a lollipop. I accepted the lollipop and he said thank you and was on his way. He was friendly and kind and larger than life. Haven't seen able to forget that short moment in time and it's been nearly fifty years. RIP Telly
I love his cool, natural confidence and masculinity. You can tell he's been through a lot but enjoying where he is, yet he maintains a healthy respect & balance of his prior life experiences.

There is an interview on UA-cam with his brother George. They look nothing alike, but they sound alike. George Savalas also has a strong presence.
I disagree he has his brother's face, in Kojak if you had him trim down and shaved his head they'd look alike.
