The USS George Washington (CVN-73), a Nimitz-class supercarrier of the United States Navy, has embarked on a significant deployment from Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia. The carrier is set to operate in the United States Southern Command area of operations as part of the Southern Seas 2024 exercise, making stops in South American countries, including Brazil, Chile, and Peru.
This deployment serves as a precursor to the aircraft carrier's role as the forward-deployed naval forces (FDNF) in Japan, replacing the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76).

I PRAY WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL THERE IS NO MORE HEARTACHE AND DESPAIR ABORD. I HAD NO IDEA, THERE WERE SAILORS A BOARD IN PORT. HOW? WHY CAN THE UNITED STATES NAVY ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN. THIS IS SHAMEFUL AND WITHOUT CONSEQUENCES TO STAND IDLY BY? GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. I HOPE SO MUCH, YOU ALL HAVE SOME EXCITEMENT AND WONDER IN YOUR TRAVELS. I WAS ONCE IN SPAIN AND SO BEYOND INTRIGUED WITH THE VESSEL IN PORT AND WANTING TO QUIZ AND CHAT WITH THE SAILORS. INNOCENTLY MIND YOU. I LOVE SOUTH AMERICA. YOU'RE SO FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO VISIT JAPAN. SO VERY FAR AWAY. ALL THE BEST AND G-D SPEED. SAFE AND SOUND WATERS AND FEW BAD STORMS. MAY THE LORD WATCH OVER AND PROTECT YOU FROM ALL FOREIGN ADVERSARIES, KNOWN AND UNKNOWN. AMEN and Amen.

The first time the USS George Washington made this trip they suffered an at sea ship fire. Hopefully this one is less eventful. Fair winds and following seas shipmates

Will there be F35 squadron on this carrier? The Reagan does not have it.

Apparently not; they sail along with CVW-7, which consisted of F/A-18E Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler, E-2D Hawkeye, MH-60S Seahawk, and C-2A Greyhound.

Sexual abuse is going unchecked on the 73, makes me sad and also makes me wonder how many of the suicides were from just that?

6:45 "Manning the rails". Navy tradition. Not at battle stations. They even called it out.
