I just randomly came across this video and I’m mesmerized. I never knew people could do anything close to that. Absolutely beautiful and scary at the same time. Bravo!
I can’t stop watching it over and over again, and listening to that beautiful music that is perfectly chosen to this video…Alenka is surely a gifted and inspiring person, for me it is incredible to see what are people capable of, where are the limits, who is in control of our body and mind….surely it’s only us ♥️ beautiful dive and an experience that I can enjoy even here, on a youtube channel
The way she even slows down on the way to the surface shows how much control she has over her body and over the situation. This is amazing in every way!!
That is incredible, Alenka! Congratulations. I would love to see one of these videos but instead of the music you talking about the experience. It would be fascinating to hear your thoughts. I cant wait to see how deep you go!
I keep watching it over again. It is undoubtedly the perfect dive ever. Smooth equalisation, perfect technique, control, relaxation and an amazing out of water freshness!! What a dive! Would you be able to tell how deep is your first charge and if you carry out any re-fill? I have seen you bending your chin very deep…70ish don’t know if you were adjusting your mouthfill or what. Thanks for sharing it.
i am so amazed by these video of deep freedive, it look so good, so much control, so much peacefulnes, its really appnea beating scuba dives, and 3min37 is not an incredible apnea time but just by thinking how much air you need to EQ and how much lactic acid you should have on the first kicking after reaching the bottom, men thats amazing
No matter how graceful we may attempt to be, we are not made for the water, and we don’t look comfortable in it. Incredible feat, you don’t care about my congratulations, but you have it nonetheless. Amazing.
I completely disagree with the comment about not looking comfortable. I think she looked incredibly comfortable, relaxed and graceful. Admittedly I'm someone who's always felt very comfortable in the water and who's done a bit of freediving and discovered how it takes you to a level of peace and relaxation unlike anything else, so maybe I view this from a different perspective to some people, but I'm sure there are many, many people who would agree with me.
@@michaelmccluskey2044 perhaps you misunderstand me, Friend. I’m sorry if I didn’t communicate well. It was a compliment to the subject and the work to make the body appear so effortless. A bit like when you see a superlative athlete (Sh’Carri or Ian Thorpe for eg, sorry for the probable sp mistake there). They make it all seem so effortless, but you know immense work and maximised potential went into making it look that beautiful and efficient. As for feeling/being comfortable, that is entirely different than looking comfortable. Compared to sea animals, humans are in general ungainly in the water, being that we are not marine creatures. Thus, my respectful nod to the subject of this video. It’s cool that people can make careers these ways. Hope that clears it up :)
I watched on go to 93 m with fins this one used this mermaid tail thing .30m each way but the time was similar. Do those tail like fins make that much difference? Like how much of that exta 30m is gear and how much is just better conditioning?
The same diver has done 109m with bi fins, so that should give you some idea. That said, they’re still high end carbon fibre long bi fins, so still very efficient. With a decent pair of short fins I think she’d probably be getting close to 100m. In no fins the top women are around 75m.
Question: why aren't there people at given depths in case the diver passes out? I guess it is unlikely it will happen on the way down, but I guess, it would going up. I would assume that at every x-Meter, there would be a diver, but I could not see any.
They can't. It would be too lengthy to explain it in detail here, but in a nutshell: You can't have scuba divers waiting at these depths for various reasons. One reason is breathing gas mixture. Another reason is decompression time. So even if they would have safety scuba divers at these depths, they wouldn't be able to help. However, the divers are attached to the line with a lanyard. If something goes wrong below the point where the safety divers could reach you (usually around 50-40m) they can pull up the whole sled as a last resort.
@@nuclearping you could have them every 5 meters, a ascent of 5 meters each woudnt cause decompression sickness (so they pass the person on upwards) but would be expensive.
In his profile it still says "Freediving World Record holder -105m deep". I see that Alenka does not wear diving goggles, I guess she will go with her eyes closed.
Think about the moments of fear her parents suffer every time she is risking her live. We should give a bit more of value to the effort every mom and dad did to bring us here.
@@aliw8162 hes saying she probably had wonderful parents that helped push her & provide for her the right tools when she was younger to crushing world record feats lol
so you are telling me if a group of people who does this every day starts having kids with each other and then their kids would do it every day and so on, eventually there will be people who can dive for 5 minutes under water?
Ussually we are diving in areas without current, like for ex. in Dean's blue hole, where the video was taken. There's zero current. But surely it is a very important condition and we have to consider it 👌

This is amazing....BUT.... how deep can she go without modern technology working for her. Technology is in every sport today creating fake results. Get rid of the flippers. Humans dont have flippers. Better golf clubs done make the person a better golfer.they will get a better score. But they didnt change their ability. Moto gp racers have hundreds of thousands of dollars in tec on their bikes. Doesnt give them more skill. Cars have wider and stickier tires, ground affects but that doesnt increase the skill of the drivers. What if the care had thinner tires. The driver with the most skill would win sliding all over the place. Weight lifters are the worst. They need 2 people to help them squeez into compression suits so they can lift more weights. Its stupid. Why not just get a chainfall and claim you lift it. You did the work. Its all out of control Go back to people competing against people and leave technology out of it
I don't understand your desire to diminish the achievement. Should runners run without shoes? Technology is part of humanity, and we should embrace it as we go forward. I'm not well versed in the free diving community, but I'd imagine there is a category for what you are suggesting. This dive is a massive accomplishment. Go Alenka!
What if you didn't have a computer or the internet. You wouldn't be able to troll and diminish other people that actually have done something usefull with their lives. Go back to your cave and smash some stones toghether. Altough, humans don't have stones so just go sit in the cold and dark and let the rest of us appreciate this wonderful achievement in peace.
This take is laughable. Youre suggesting racing cars should just be people running around? Or that golfers should just throw the ball with their hands instead, or maybe whack the ball with a random branch found in the woods?
life is just like a diving in the ocean where there is no life and human. Chasing the end point and going up the stairs are all we can probably do in our lifetime. there would be your friend, family, co-workers. But they couldn't be ourselves.
The control you have over your mind and body is amazing. This was so beautiful to watch.
