Nathan, I applaud your work, not because I am a big modifier, but because I think these things translate directly to making the TU-250X a better round the world motorcycle. All one has to do is think about south east asia, parts of austrailia or south America, or rural china.. and all this stuff probably works better than standard road trim. I am glad you showed the crossover from other Suzuki models. The tu-250x group is so worthwhile for owners. Cheers !
Capt Larry - I feel the same way! My wife and I recently went to Costa Rica and Equador and in both countries the vast majority of bikes we saw were classic UJM style small displacement single cylinder thumpers with dual sport tires, they figured it out a long time ago you can have form and function without riding a dirt bike.
I might be getting a very fresh 2011 myself and might use it for work, which would be offroad and bringing stuff with. Love the thinking behind the mods on yours 👌🏻 Cheers from the other side of the world 🇲🇺✌🏻
That’s awesome!! They are fantastic bikes! More than the same of their parts for sure! They make a great platform for customization too! You can see my full story at tu250riders.com which is in my opinion one of the best and friendliest online forums on the internet and a great resource for your bike!
Thanks man! They have saved me a bunch of times! If they ever get too tore up I can replace the can for $10 plus a few coats of paint. Would 100% recommend them!
As an update I did wind up changing the rear tire to a more aggressive knobby from Kenda called a Trakmaster II and was able to fit a 120/100-18 on the rear with about 1/16” to spare! Still love the 241 up front, great tire has never let me down!
Hello. Would you say a tu250x is capable to drive a 5 hour trip. Say 2.5 hours on highway and 2.5 hours on roads with 55 m p.h. speed limit. I'm 200 lbs with say 45 lbs of camping gear. I would stop a couple times to take break. Would you say it's able to do without breaking motor. I would be looking to go say 60 on highway. Thanks
Ok. So there is a lot to unload here, first of all I will address the “will the motor blow up” comment. Heck NO! This bike has the Suzuki flagship motor in it. They put this motor in three wheeled dump bed pick-up trucks in China, this motor is absolutely bullet proof bomb proof and will never die if you keep the oil changed. But, the real question is how will you be on the trip? This bike will absolutely carry you and 100lbs of luggage and I’m sure you will average 60 mph unless there are lots of hills. Hills will kill you. My TUX will do over 60 in 4th gear with big huge knobby tires on but I did drop a tooth in the front sprocket. If you hit a hill with luggage you are gonna be in 4 th a lot. I don’t know many highways that are only 60 that people don’t drive 70 so in general I try to avoid highways at all cost. Not because the bike won’t do it, but because it’s no fun to have a semi truck 18 wheeler blow past you doing 75 when you have it pinned at 60. Downhill the tux can do 70-75 but uphill she runs out of torque in high gears. Absolutely great bike but if touring is in your blood and it’s what you love a bigger bike probably would make you happier. Back road driving you will be hard pressed to find a bike that’s more fun than a tux!
@@nathandalleave252 thanks for responding. The highway trips would only be two times a year. One 5-hour trip during year and a 3-hour trip. I will think about it. Thanks
I love the look of this bike. The Suzuki van van model is supposed to be the more off-road bike but I prefer the look of this one. Do you know if your bike is as capable or more so than the van van for off road?
Hey Doug! I actually was a big fan of the van van, I had a Yamaha TW 200 which is similar and I can say this TU250x is waaaaay more than the TW or the van van, it was heavily modified though, the TW200 you can just pick up and ride. The TU250x will do 60 in 4th gear and 70 in 5th on flat ground even with those big knobby tires, the van van and TW are breathing hard at 50.
Little Bitty Customs I cut the pipe where the exhaust sensor was and fitted it between the header and muffler so it’s still factory but now it’s nicely tucked away so you don’t see it, works perfectly!
Just got an old tu and I love the scrambler build.. Im definetly gonna change the tires and maybe the exhaust... Did the muffler shop bend it for you??
Yeah, I brought them the pipe and showed them where I wanted it to run below the ammo boxes and they did everything else! It wasn’t 100% exactly the way I had pictured it, but I’m happy with it!
Hey nathan love the bike man. I also have the tu250x and have been wanting to make it into a scrambler. Where did you source the exhaust from? i cant seem to find it anywhere online.
Alex Garcia, I got it from the XF250 dealer, I was able to order it offline directly from CSC shipped to my house for $75 then paid a muffler shop $50 to make a few bends/welds to get the shape. It was a painted pipe so not very pretty so I wrapped it with heat wrap. Hope this helps!
Rad little tux man! I've been looking into going scrambler with my own 2012 tux, lovin the mods you have done to yours, would you mind if i used some screenshots of your bike as an example to source parts for mine?
Heck yeah man! I am so glad someone else out there is going for it! There is a forum tu250riders.com that are awesome and I have a thread on there with very specific specs and walk through of how I did everything!
Jose Manuel the stock suspension really did not do too well. I bought new springs for the front shocks from racetech.com for a Suzuki GN250 that fit like a glove at a thickness made for my weight 0.95 thickness that I cannot say enough good things about the upgraded springs, makes the bike handle like a dirt bike off-road and nearly eliminated most of the nose dive when braking on road. Best money I spent on the bike!
Well..... I think it would if it had light street tires and a skinny driver, I’m 6’2” and just under 300lbs so she prefers to stay around 65. She can pull 60 in 4th up steep hills but 5th isn’t great at highway speed uphill with those big knobby tires and my fat butt!
The only place you can get one is from the CSC company, contact a dealer and they will mail it to you! It was very inexpensive, can’t remember now how much it was but be aware it is painted black from the company that’s why I wrapped mine 👍
Hello mate. Can you do me a favour and check the part number for the header pipe? From my research I've found A00006-10-00. It'd be great if you could confirm. Thanks.
Actually I bought it used and the guy before me took them all off and was trying to make a cafe’ racer with clubman bar grips etc. I did a complete 180 on that! Hahaha
thanks! and I'm not really sure, Suzuki did make some other models that are similar in other countries that have 4 valve double exhaust that might be what you're thinking of, but all the TU's in America are just fuel injected 250 thumpers, very basic but bullet proof engine easy to work on!
I buy mine on eBay from a seller called chaparral... something, maybe powersports? Anyway just look for chaparral- never been disappointed! Cheap prices and fast shipping.
Clint Weldon I have to say I really love having a street oriented transmission for off-road, the gears are so long that you don’t have to change gears halfway up the hill, I have had that tux almost standing straight up a hill in first no problem. Have a good tire on the back helps a lot, I’m currently running a Kenda Trackmaster on the back and it’s unstoppable.
@@nathandalleave252 That's great to hear! I'm 95% sold on the TU250X but I was concerned about the power going up hill and over bridges. The price is so good that it's almost a no-brainer, thought it might be too good to be true! Thanks for the info :-)

Great job Nathan! I know you love that T100 muffler, but had you looked into mounting the stock TU250X muffler on the end of that new pipe? Would if even have been possible, or is it too large?
It would definitely be possible but I was shocked to see how heavy the stock pipes were, I think I dropped at least 10-12 lbs changing it to the new pipe and muffler

It’s super easy, it’s that round plate on the right side of the engine so the pipe does not block it. Could not be easier to work on these bikes!
