    TONGBEI practioner myself good to see to practical application shown. through my years of practice notice many that practice their art don't understand how to apply or not taught the fighting aspect of their art. thank you.

    I learned this form in one of Shi Guolin's schools in NYC when I was in high school never knowing any of the applications. Thanks for finally satisfying my curiosity.

    Very cool, I am from Brazil and here kung fu is banalized, I have visited more than 30 kung fu schools, and people without qualification teach this art superficially, teaching only taolu in a robotic way and without teaching their applications, thank you.

    • @Bj-yf3im
      @Bj-yf3im 6 років тому +1

      Fabricio Vargas This is unfortunately the norm. Most Kungfu schools only teach routines which the teachers expect students to perform with speed, power and accuracy, much like gymnastics, without teaching applications, fighting principles and sparring. When they do teach sparring, it is often a mish mash of kickboxing and other martial arts, but taught in a very haphazard, unprofessional way. The best way to learn real Kungfu is to learn Sanshou or learn traditional Kungfu from a good teacher, which the gentleman performing in this video clearly did. Good luck! 😊

      a decir verdad yo hago lo mismo el practicante muestra interes y sobre todo es una persona que controla su emociones se le enseña de manera privada las aplicaciones luego el practicante solo puede leer las demas tecnicas de otras formas pero el punto es que no se comparte libremente a todos por razones de mal uso

      @blockmasterscott Рік тому

      Yeah, it's the same here in the States, it's really hard to find someone that knows the applications.

    Superb work. I better understand why the solar plexus is such an important target in Kung fu (probably works better as a followup technique) and hand grabbing techniques seem more practical now. Looking forward to more videos. You might consider breaking them up into the patterns within the form as shorter videos for easier review.

    I trained shaolin gong fu for 5 years and i can say that he gives good advices but i still think there are too many moves not practical in real life combat. Too much focus on long movements. Jeet kune do is the way to go. All arts have good techniques but its very important to stick to simplicity in terms of application. This is no hatred he rly knows his art! Ps: Shaolin kung fu moves work better when you shorten the range of motion. But to train your body, you practise them long arm, fully extended legs

    I appreciate your dedication to Shaolin, and I like your videos, but I do have one small problem... Your Chinese needs a bit of work. You're performing "Through the arm fist", but the video clearly has the title written as "Through the back fist". This is a common mistake, as 'arm' (bi4) is sometimes pronounced the same as 'back' (bei4), but the two styles are VERY different both in their applications and training methods (not to mention that Tongbei is much softer and is a much younger style than Tongbi). Fix that and you have a great video!
